Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Jer kisses his best friend Raven, the feelings they've been avoiding surface—including secrets from the past that might destroy them both. Jeremiah Taylor's responsibilities as the new pack beta are crushing him, especially with the unpredictable mood shifts since his shaman-supplied bipolar meds ran out. It's the combination for doing something stupid, like kissing the one woman he's never let himself pursue—his best friend Raven Takahashi. When Finn left the Red Rock pack, Raven's on and off again fling took her safety net with him—the one barrier keeping her from the raw and real way she feels around Jer. The moment the Pandora's box opens after they kiss, she can no longer deny the sparks between them or hide from the demons of her past. And when one of those demons shows up in Beaver Tavern representing an anti-shifter group to take over their land, Raven's secrets threaten to get dragged into the light, which could cost her everything—her friends, her pack, and her home. However, if she and Jer don't thwart the anti-shifter group's takeover attempts, the entire Red Rock pack might find themselves banished from their own land.

Book Contract as Assumption

    Book Details:
  • Author : Brian Coote
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing
  • Release : 2010-04-02
  • ISBN : 184731578X
  • Pages : 246 pages

Download or read book Contract as Assumption written by Brian Coote and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2010-04-02 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has many times been said that contracts involve assumptions of obligation or liability, but what that means, and what it is that is assumed, have not often been discussed. It is to further such discussion that some of the author's previously published writings around this subject have been brought together in this book. His basic premises are that contractual obligation and liability in this context are two sides to the same coin and that an assumption of one is an assumption of both. Parties are bound not because liability has been imposed upon them by law as a result of their having entered into a contract but because, in the act of assuming, they have imposed it upon themselves. Contract provides a facility the purpose of which is to enable this to be done within the limits prescribed by law. The implication of these premises are much more significant than might be supposed when applied to such areas of contract as formation, consideration, intention to contract, exception clauses, privity and damages. The book concludes with a treatment of the role of assumption in tort. Because of the importance of its subject matter and its wide-ranging treatment, this book should appeal not only to teachers and postgraduate students of contract but also to practitioners in the field and to anyone else with an interest in contract theory.

Book Strategies to Improve Cardiac Arrest Survival

Download or read book Strategies to Improve Cardiac Arrest Survival written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2015-09-29 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cardiac arrest can strike a seemingly healthy individual of any age, race, ethnicity, or gender at any time in any location, often without warning. Cardiac arrest is the third leading cause of death in the United States, following cancer and heart disease. Four out of five cardiac arrests occur in the home, and more than 90 percent of individuals with cardiac arrest die before reaching the hospital. First and foremost, cardiac arrest treatment is a community issue - local resources and personnel must provide appropriate, high-quality care to save the life of a community member. Time between onset of arrest and provision of care is fundamental, and shortening this time is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of death and disability from cardiac arrest. Specific actions can be implemented now to decrease this time, and recent advances in science could lead to new discoveries in the causes of, and treatments for, cardiac arrest. However, specific barriers must first be addressed. Strategies to Improve Cardiac Arrest Survival examines the complete system of response to cardiac arrest in the United States and identifies opportunities within existing and new treatments, strategies, and research that promise to improve the survival and recovery of patients. The recommendations of Strategies to Improve Cardiac Arrest Survival provide high-priority actions to advance the field as a whole. This report will help citizens, government agencies, and private industry to improve health outcomes from sudden cardiac arrest across the United States.
