Book Turn Your Talents Into Profits

Download or read book Turn Your Talents Into Profits written by Darcie Sanders and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 1998 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There seems to be no dearth of suggestions for making money at home, as the growing number of books devoted to the topic proves. But how many of these ideas are practical and creative at the same time? The experienced team of Sanders and Bullen not only describes more than 100 of the more unusual business vocations, but also interviews quite a few practitioners and lists specific resources to consult. Each entry includes a lengthy explanation of the job, and its duties and responsibilities, along with a top tip (e.g., for aspiring dog or cat breeders, it's suggested as an adjunct to other pet-related businesses, not as a solo venture), getting started, and the going rate. Sure to provoke chuckles are some of the recommendations, albeit all bona fide, such as a garden goosewear designer (yes, for concrete birds) and a beekeeper (no stings in this thought). Good information, well presented.

The book is structured to give its readers the exact steps to follow as they are written in the book. It is very important to follow these steps in the order that they appear. This book is to give those with very little to no knowledge of business, let alone the medical equipment and supply field. Its intent is give the reader an insight of starting and successfully operating a medical equipment and supply company. Our goal is to teach everyone (who is interested in starting a business in the medical field) the same knowledge as those who have been in the business for years. This book gives you the same information that the large corporations had when they started out as a small one person operation, just as you are today. On each page there are different topics, which cover information necessary for the growth of your business. It also gives the reader contact information on where you will go to complete whatever it is that that section may call for. For example; the zoning section (called zoning requirement), this will have directly under it location of where to go to register. This book also list medical supply and equipment companies with phone numbers and web addresses of each company. This book is very user friendly, and very informative. This book also covers what products to sell, who do you sell to, and finding the person you need to contact when calling on these businesses. Book The Role of Telehealth in an Evolving Health Care Environment

Download or read book The Role of Telehealth in an Evolving Health Care Environment written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2012-12-20 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1996, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released its report Telemedicine: A Guide to Assessing Telecommunications for Health Care. In that report, the IOM Committee on Evaluating Clinical Applications of Telemedicine found telemedicine is similar in most respects to other technologies for which better evidence of effectiveness is also being demanded. Telemedicine, however, has some special characteristics-shared with information technologies generally-that warrant particular notice from evaluators and decision makers. Since that time, attention to telehealth has continued to grow in both the public and private sectors. Peer-reviewed journals and professional societies are devoted to telehealth, the federal government provides grant funding to promote the use of telehealth, and the private technology industry continues to develop new applications for telehealth. However, barriers remain to the use of telehealth modalities, including issues related to reimbursement, licensure, workforce, and costs. Also, some areas of telehealth have developed a stronger evidence base than others. The Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) sponsored the IOM in holding a workshop in Washington, DC, on August 8-9 2012, to examine how the use of telehealth technology can fit into the U.S. health care system. HRSA asked the IOM to focus on the potential for telehealth to serve geographically isolated individuals and extend the reach of scarce resources while also emphasizing the quality and value in the delivery of health care services. This workshop summary discusses the evolution of telehealth since 1996, including the increasing role of the private sector, policies that have promoted or delayed the use of telehealth, and consumer acceptance of telehealth. The Role of Telehealth in an Evolving Health Care Environment: Workshop Summary discusses the current evidence base for telehealth, including available data and gaps in data; discuss how technological developments, including mobile telehealth, electronic intensive care units, remote monitoring, social networking, and wearable devices, in conjunction with the push for electronic health records, is changing the delivery of health care in rural and urban environments. This report also summarizes actions that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) can undertake to further the use of telehealth to improve health care outcomes while controlling costs in the current health care environment.

Book Health Care Computing

Download or read book Health Care Computing written by Philip Burnard and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most health professionals have to use computers - at least some of the time. Frequently, those computers are personal computers -the generic name for the ones that are variously known as 'IBM compatible' or 'IBM clones' or just PCs. This separates them out from certain other makes such as the Apple Macintosh, the Amstrad dedicated word processor, the Atari, Amiga and a number of others. This book is about PCs. When you need information about your computer when you are busy, you don't want to have to wade through piles of manuals to find what you need. You often need a fairly straightforward piece of information - now. Computers can be infuriating. When they are up and running properly, they can save time and help you to be more productive. When something goes wrong, they can be extremely frustrating. Once you have called in someone else to fix your problem, it is often apparent that the answer to your problem was only a few keystrokes away. This book aims at supplying you with small chunks of information that can aid your productivity, get you out of awkward corners and help you to become more at home with your Pc. It has been my experience - as a health care lecturer and as a regular com puter user - that you need to develop a certain baseline of confidence in working with them.
