Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the culmination of over 30 years in the health and supplement industry. The book was written to illustrate the simplicity of living a healthier lifestyle. Too many books are written on the subject of better health, diet, exercise, supplements, etc. that complicate the issues to the point that the public often finds it overwhelming to attempt to make the changes that seem to be necessary in their lives. This book will take the only three factors that really matter to one's health, namely diet, exercise and supplementation and show how each may be implemented in one's life without major impact, changes or expenses. The number one reason why people don't attempt to live a healthier lifestyle is that they feel it is too difficult or restrictive. This book will show just how few changes are necessary to dramatically improve one's health and the prospest of a longer lifespan.

Book excerpt: The fitness industry has become an unregulated misinformation machine. It is commonplace for well-built "gurus," who lack any formal education, to be given a platform to promote a supplement, product, idea or TV show. Often the results they promise are physiologically impossible - costing you time and money, and ultimately robbing you of precious motivation. However, there is great information out there. Getting and staying fit is a science that has been developing for decades. Research is progressing faster than ever, and there are credentialed professionals working hard to make this information available to you. Not just pretty bodies interested in your wallet, but professionals interested in your well-being. This book contains no gimmicks, fads, myths or misinformation. Instead, more than 600 references are used to bust dozens of myths, and provide dozens more practical suggestions for better results. The book is written in fun, easy-to-understand, plain English so everyone from the novice exerciser to the fitness professional can enjoy. Some of the topics covered: * Dieting Made Simple: You don't have to cut carbohydrates (carbs), or fat, or eat weird combinations of food to lose weight. * The Truth About Supplements: It's time to stop wasting your money on the ones that don't work. * The Myth About Toning-up: You cannot tone, but you can choose exercise that will burn more calories and lead to a leaner, more defined physique. * The Truth About 6-pack Abs: How do you get them, and are they worth the effort. * Muscle Myths: How to get more out of your weight training routine by avoiding the pseudo-science. * Tackling Cardio Confusion: What is the best cardio? * Motivation is not ordained, it's developed: Build a plan toward your goals with help from the latest research. If you keep doing the same things, you will keep looking the same way. It's time to make a change. With the information in this book, you can leave the gimmicks behind and create a personalized fitness program that works. No more misleading diet plans and products that promise unattainable results. You can be your own personal trainer and critically evaluate your options. Stop fighting your body and start working with your body. As an educator for the largest health club chains on the East Coast, I have trained thousands of individuals just like you to not only get fit, but to become personal trainers themselves. I understand how to make the science and research of fitness easy to understand, easy to apply and relevant to you. I know what fitness trends work and which ones don't. Special Thanks: This book is my attempt to a fill a void in fitness. It is a means of bridging the gap between the brightest minds in health and wellness and those pursuing a healthy lifestyle - an attempt to explain health science in simple English without the bias of sponsorship, product placement and profits. Ultimately, I want to help you avoid the nonsense and bring you closer to your goals. I appreciate your support in filling this gap, setting an example and hopefully raising the bar in this unregulated industry.

Download or read book Easy Exercises written by Patrick Barrett and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you been looking for a short, simple exercise routine that you can work into your busy schedule? Do you wish you could enjoy the benefits of regular exercise without rearranging your day around a trip to the gym, and without being forced to skip your workouts because you were just too busy to get it done with work, school, family, and who knows what else? If so, Easy Exercises may be the answer you're looking for. You'll learn a simple, short, stripped-down routine that you can do on a daily basis. You can stick with the core program indefinitely and reap the rewards of daily physical activity, or you can add in some challenging options for better, faster results while still keeping your workouts short and convenient. Can you set aside 3 or 4 minutes each day to exercise? Of course you can, and that means you've got all the time you need to incorporate this simple exercise routine into your life. People like to talk about the "secret" to staying in shape. Well, here it is, free of charge: the secret to staying in shape is not finding the exact, precise exercise or diet that will perform some kind of voodoo and deliver sudden, amazing results. The secret is finding a healthy plan that you can stick to. It can be running, or lifting weights, or bodyweight exercise, or yoga, or dance classes, or a recreational sports league. It can be anything, as long as it means you're being physically active on a regular basis, and as long as you stick to it. You may not see a dramatic transformation in a month, or even in two or three months, but as time passes and you keep it up you will see a big change. You will become one of "those people" who is just in great shape. That's what's so great about the exercise routine you'll learn in this book. It is so simple, so basic that anyone can stick to it. You don't need any special equipment (though there is a variation that uses weights, if you prefer that). But even though it's simple, it's still a full-body routine that's challenging enough to make you stronger, leaner, and healthier if you keep it up. Regular exercise is absolutely crucial to weight-loss and muscle growth. But nowadays it's more important than ever, because modern conveniences allow you to be more sedentary than ever before. Even beyond losing weight and building muscle, exercise and physical activity promote the deep breathing and circulation you need to clean your blood, cells, and organs, and to provide them with the fresh oxygen they need to do their jobs effectively and keep you healthy. Daily physical activity is essential for anyone who hopes to live a long, healthy life--and it's key to promoting your quality of life, too. Easy Exercises will teach you the simple workout program you've been looking for that fits easily into your busy schedule. Pick up a physical or digital copy, and you could be doing you first workout in a few short days, or even as soon as a few hours from now.

Book Educating the Student Body

    Book Details:
  • Author : Committee on Physical Activity and Physical Education in the School Environment
  • Publisher : National Academies Press
  • Release : 2013-11-13
  • ISBN : 0309283140
  • Pages : 503 pages

Download or read book Educating the Student Body written by Committee on Physical Activity and Physical Education in the School Environment and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2013-11-13 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical inactivity is a key determinant of health across the lifespan. A lack of activity increases the risk of heart disease, colon and breast cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, osteoporosis, anxiety and depression and others diseases. Emerging literature has suggested that in terms of mortality, the global population health burden of physical inactivity approaches that of cigarette smoking. The prevalence and substantial disease risk associated with physical inactivity has been described as a pandemic. The prevalence, health impact, and evidence of changeability all have resulted in calls for action to increase physical activity across the lifespan. In response to the need to find ways to make physical activity a health priority for youth, the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Physical Activity and Physical Education in the School Environment was formed. Its purpose was to review the current status of physical activity and physical education in the school environment, including before, during, and after school, and examine the influences of physical activity and physical education on the short and long term physical, cognitive and brain, and psychosocial health and development of children and adolescents. Educating the Student Body makes recommendations about approaches for strengthening and improving programs and policies for physical activity and physical education in the school environment. This report lays out a set of guiding principles to guide its work on these tasks. These included: recognizing the benefits of instilling life-long physical activity habits in children; the value of using systems thinking in improving physical activity and physical education in the school environment; the recognition of current disparities in opportunities and the need to achieve equity in physical activity and physical education; the importance of considering all types of school environments; the need to take into consideration the diversity of students as recommendations are developed. This report will be of interest to local and national policymakers, school officials, teachers, and the education community, researchers, professional organizations, and parents interested in physical activity, physical education, and health for school-aged children and adolescents.
