Book He Was There Even When I Was Unaware and So Was Ms

Download or read book He Was There Even When I Was Unaware and So Was Ms written by Donna Kiel and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-04 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How I was able to find peace and joy in the face of diversity and tribulations. Early in life, I have always had Someone looking after me even when I did not realize it. Later in life, after becoming a true believer, my faith was challenged. Even in the face of this chronic illness called MS, my faith never faltered. I did not revert to asking, "why me?" I know my purpose is to boldly show what Christ has done in my life regardless of any obstacles. Born on Chicago's west side in 1958, I aspired to do better than what was expected. I did the traditional college. I got my Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees. I started my career in Chicago. Working for corporate giants like Merrill Lynch, IBM, and Siemens was what I thought I was supposed to do back then. In 1999 I was blessed with employment at a small, public, non-corporate technology organization. However, in 2001, I experienced a steady decline of my health. Not knowing what to do, I went to my primary physician for help, but the prescribed stress pills did not work. Finally, in 2006, I received a call at a time when most doctors were not working. I was diagnosed with MS.

Book Fantasia of the Unconscious

Download or read book Fantasia of the Unconscious written by David Herbert Lawrence and published by Library of Alexandria. This book was released on 2020-09-28 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ÊPublished: 1922 "I am not a proper archaeologist nor an anthropologist nor an ethnologist. I am no "scholar" of any sort. But I am very grateful to scholars for their sound work. I have found hints, suggestions for what I say here in all kinds of scholarly books, from the Yoga and Plato and St. John the Evangel and the early Greek philosophers like Herakleitos down to Fraser and his "Golden Bough," and even Freud and Frobenius. Even then I only remember hints--and I proceed by intuition. This leaves you quite free to dismiss the whole wordy mass of revolting nonsense, without a qualm."

Book Psychology of the Unconscious

Download or read book Psychology of the Unconscious written by C. G. Jung and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2023-11-14 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book became a landmark, set up on the spot where two ways divided. Because of its imperfections and its incompleteness it laid down the program to be followed for the next few decades of my life." Thus wrote C. G. Jung about his most famous and influential work, the one that marked the beginning of his divergence from the psychoanalytic school of Freud. In this book Jung explores the fantasy system of Frank Miller, the young American woman whose account of her poetic and vivid mental images helped lead him to his redefinition of libido while encouraging his explorations in mythology. Published in 1912 as Wandlungen und Symbole der Libido, this is a key text for the study of the formation of Jung's ideas and for understanding his personal and psychological condition during this crucial time. Miller's fantasies, with their mythological implications, supported Jung's notion that libido is not primarily sexual energy, as Freud had described it, but rather psychic energy in general, which springs from the unconscious and appears in consciousness as symbols. Jung shows how libido organizes itself as a metaphorical "hero," who first battles for deliverance from the "mother," the symbol of the unconscious, in order to become conscious, then returns to the unconscious for renewal. Jung's analytical commentary on these fantasies is a complex study of symbolic parallels derived from mythology, religion, ethnology, art, literature, and psychiatry, and foreshadows his fundamental concept of the collective unconscious and its contents, the archetypes.

Book Psychoanalysis and the Unconscious and Fantasia of the Unconscious

Download or read book Psychoanalysis and the Unconscious and Fantasia of the Unconscious written by D. H. Lawrence and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2012-03-27 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Extraordinary. Certainly a landmark in the history of psychoanalysis."--Kenneth Rexroth This volume features two profound essays by one of the English language's most famous and controversial authors. D. H. Lawrence wrote Psychoanalysis and the Unconscious and Fantasia of the Unconscious in the early 1920s, during his most productive period. Initially intended as a response to psychoanalytic criticism of his novel Sons and Lovers, these works progressed into a counterproposal to the Freudian psychoanalytic theory of the unconscious and the incest motive. They also voice Lawrence's concepts of education, marriage, and social and political action. "This pseudo-philosophy of mine," explained Lawrence, "was deduced from the novels and poems, not the reverse. The absolute need one has for some sort of satisfactory mental attitude towards oneself and things in general makes one try to abstract some definite conclusions from one's experiences as a writer and as a man." With these two essays, the author articulates his insights into the mental struggle to rationalize and reconcile the polarity that exists between emotional and intellectual identities. Critical to understanding Lawrence's other works, they offer a bold synthesis of literary theory and criticism of Freudian psychology.

Book The Recovery of Unconscious Memories

Download or read book The Recovery of Unconscious Memories written by Matthew Hugh Erdelyi and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1998-05-08 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of memory recovery is now more important than ever with the controversy over delayed recall and false memory having spilled over from psychology to the courts and the public media. The Recovery of Unconscious Memories provides a comprehensive scientific treatment of a century of research that integrates for the first time the findings of the clinic and the laboratory. Included are authoritative treatments of hypnotic hypermnesia, free association and forced recall, the recovery of subliminal stimuli in dreams and fantasy, electrical recall, recovery of sensory-motor skills (also symptoms or "sick skills"), and modern mathematical decision theory analyses of true and false memories. Erdelyi's own ground-breaking research is presented, including his recent discovery of striking memory recoveries in long-delayed recall probes administered months after last testing. In a technical appendix, Erdelyi unveils for the first time a methodological solution to the problem of response bias in narrative recall.
