Book Could the Millennials Generation Be the Greatest Ever

Download or read book Could the Millennials Generation Be the Greatest Ever written by Ramon Kleier and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2020-11-09 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Could The Millennials Generation Be The Greatest Ever? By: Raymond Kleier About the Author When Mr. Kleier was six years old, and his brother was four years old, the motto, or the culture was: “Kids should be seen and not heard.” Every Tuesday evening, their Paw-Paw would bring two of his sons with him to play Pinochle with their dad. The siblings respected his wishes and beliefs. So, they sat with their backs up against the wall, their legs laying flat on the floor, under their chairs (very small area). They had a school tablet and #2 pencils and wrote notes to each other, making fun of their conversations. They had more fun, choking back laughter, than the card players. Evidently it was at that time, that Mr. Kleier got the itch to write stories. In 2007, he wrote a book about his three brothers growing up in Schnitzelburg, a town with a very heavy population of German immigrants. Mr. Kleier befriended a historian professor at the University of Louisville. The professor helped him with the history of Schnitzelburg and told Mr. Kleier to let him see the finished copy of the book, The Four Kleier Boys of Schnitzelburg. That book, a hardback coffee table book, is now sitting on the shelf at the Special Records and Archives of the University of Louisville's Ecstrum Library. Mr. Kleier then contacted the powers at The Louisville Free Public Library. A copy of that same book is now sitting on a shelf at The Louisville Free Public Library. In 2018, Mr. Kleier wrote another book, What has happened to MY world living in Schnitzelburg?

Imprisoned in her own home, Vanora Willis waits for her Surge: an excruciating event all Sirens must live through in order to determine their lifelong duty. Those that are good shall guide a pure soul to Heaven. Those that are bad damn evil souls, immortal until they pursue their convicts to Hell. But Vanora is only half a Siren. Her family expects her to be nothing less than good, but afraid she'll never have a purpose in life, why should she follow the rules? Then she meets Cal, a bad Siren with a knack for defying them. Impulsive and head over heels, Cal dreads to plague Vanora's traditions with his evil deeds, but it's a risk he's willing to take. Across an ocean, her father hides a secret that could mean the death of an entire species. Defying every expectation, vicious becomes virtue's teacher. A Siren is helpless if she is unable to sing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Passed in June 1940, the Smith Act was a peacetime anti-sedition law that marked a dramatic shift in the legal definition of free speech protection in America by criminalizing the advocacy of disloyalty to the government by force. It also criminalized the acts of printing, publishing, or distributing anything advocating such sedition and made it illegal to organize or belong to any association that did the same. It was first brought to trial in July 1941, when a federal grand jury in Minneapolis indicted twenty-nine Socialist Workers Party members, fifteen of whom also belonged to the militant Teamsters Local 544. Eighteen of the defendants were convicted of conspiring to overthrow the government. Examining the social, political, and legal history of the first Smith Act case, this book focuses on the tension between the nation’s cherished principle of free political expression and the demands of national security on the eve of America’s entry into World War II. Based on newly declassified government documents and recently opened archival sources, Trotskyists on Trial explores the implications of the case for organized labor and civil liberties in wartime and postwar America. The central issue of how Americans have tolerated or suppressed dissent during moments of national crisis is not only important to our understanding of the past, but also remains a pressing concern in the post-9/11 world. This volume traces some of the implications of the compromise between rights and security that was made in the mid-twentieth century, offering historical context for some of the consequences of similar bargains struck today.

Book Only by True Repentance and Reform

Download or read book Only by True Repentance and Reform written by Donald P. Long and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-05-16 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book you will come to know my upbringing that details aspects of your son(s), brother(s) and nephew(s) life. An upbringing that maybe similar if not identical. This book tells the journey of a young teenager growing up on the eastside of Detroit. Poor, drug addicted Mother, an absent of a Father. Like so many of our Black youth today. An upbringing that pressured me into a life of drug selling. Then eventually an assault with intent to rob and assault with intent to murder. I was later captured and sent to the Michigan Department of Correction for 18.7 years of my life. This book will allow you into my 18.7 year journey as a prisoner. It will allow you to see the ups and downs and the good and bad that I had to struggle and cope with beginning at the age of 22. In the midst of a dark period in my life. I was able to find a life giving teaching that lead to my repentance from a criminal way of thinking. And the reformation of a criminal way of acting. The reader will see that there is an answer to the pain and struggles within our youth today. And that committing a crime, going in and out of prison, neither dying a premature death is not worth the value of their lives. If you are in prison then this book will let you see how I made it 18.7 years trouble free. I am one of those who was fortunate to make it out alive, well and with a sound mind. To let my young brothers and the world know. That its never too late to repent and reform, and to be a blessing to yourself, your Mother, your family and the world! --DONALD P. LONG
