Book Harmonic Innovation

Download or read book Harmonic Innovation written by Francesco Cicione and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-27 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is aimed at researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovation consultants of the 5.0 era. For many centuries, the dominant paradigm of innovation was based on competition and the protection of the achievements (closed innovation). In the early years of the new millennium, the advent of globalization and the network has made the model evolve towards open and collaborative approaches (open innovation). Both methods corresponded to a different view of the world and society. Today, in a historical phase in which the world needs to become more sustainable and equitable, from the heart of the Mediterranean, the cradle of classical civilization, a group of valuable academics, scholars, and entrepreneurs propose to the world a new and further evolution of the concept of innovation and expression of the era we are living in: the harmonic innovation, an attempt to combine science and wisdom, technique and spirit, scientific research and moral research, technological progress and new humanism, new economy and social impacts, power, and limit. Anybody who aims to discover a fragment of future is welcome to read this book.

Book Innovation in Energy Systems

Download or read book Innovation in Energy Systems written by Taha Selim Ustun and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-11-27 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been a little over a century since the inception of interconnected networks and little has changed in the way that they are operated. Demand-supply balance methods, protection schemes, business models for electric power companies, and future development considerations have remained the same until very recently. Distributed generators, storage devices, and electric vehicles have become widespread and disrupted century-old bulk generation - bulk transmission operation. Distribution networks are no longer passive networks and now contribute to power generation. Old billing and energy trading schemes cannot accommodate this change and need revision. Furthermore, bidirectional power flow is an unprecedented phenomenon in distribution networks and traditional protection schemes require a thorough fix for proper operation. This book aims to cover new technologies, methods, and approaches developed to meet the needs of this changing field.

Book Research and Innovation Forum 2023

Download or read book Research and Innovation Forum 2023 written by Anna Visvizi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2024-01-01 with total page 798 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book features research presented and discussed during the Research & Innovation Forum (Rii Forum) 2023. As such, this book offers a unique insight into emerging topics, issues and developments pertinent to the fields of technology, innovation and education and their social impact. Papers included in this book apply inter- and multi-disciplinary approaches to query such issues as technology-enhanced teaching and learning, smart cities, information systems, cognitive computing and social networking. What brings these threads of the discussion together is the question of how advances in computer science—which are otherwise largely incomprehensible to researchers from other fields—can be effectively translated and capitalized on so as to make them beneficial for society as a whole. In this context, Rii Forum and Rii Forum proceedings offer an essential venue where diverse stakeholders, including academics, the think tank sector and decision-makers, can engage in a meaningful dialogue with a view to improving the applicability of advances in computer science.

  • ISBN : 1351774514
  • Pages : 291 pages

Download or read book Pop Music written by Timothy Warner and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2003.This highly original and accessible book draws on the author’s personal experience as a musician, producer and teacher of popular music to discuss the ways in which audio technology and musical creativity in pop music are inextricably bound together. This relationship, the book argues, is exemplified by the work of Trevor Horn, who is widely acknowledged as the most important, innovative and successful British pop record producer of the early 1980s. In the first part of the book, Timothy Warner presents a definition of pop as distinct from rock music, and goes on to consider the ways technological developments, such as the transition from analogue to digital, transform working practices and, as a result, impact on the creative process of producing pop.

Book Composition Chromaticism and the Developmental Process

Download or read book Composition Chromaticism and the Developmental Process written by Henry Burnett and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Musicology, having been transmitted as a compilation of disparate events and disciplines, has long necessitated a 'magic bullet', a 'unified field theory' so to speak, that can interpret the steady metamorphosis of Western art music from late medieval modality to twentieth-century atonality within a single theoretical construct. Without that magic bullet, discussions of this kind are increasingly complicated and, to make matters worse, the validity of any transformational models and ideas of the natural evolution of styles is questioned and even frowned upon today as epitomizing a grotesque teleological bigotry. Going against current thinking, Henry Burnett and Roy Nitzberg claim that the teleological approach to observing stylistic change is still valid when considered from the purely compositional perspective. The authors challenge the traditional understanding of development, and advance a new theory of eleven-pitch tonality as it relates to the corpus of Western composition. The book plots the evolution of tonality and its bearing on style and the compositional process itself. The theory is not based on the diatonic aspect of the various tonal systems exploited by composers; rather, the theory is chromatically based - the chromatically inflected octave being the source not only of a highly ingenious developmental dialectic, but also encompassing the moment-to-moment progression of the musical narrative itself. Even the most profound teachings of Schenker, and the often startlingly original and worthwhile speculations of Riemann, Tovey, Dahlhaus and others, still provide no theory of development and so are ultimately unable to unite the various tendrils of the compositional organism into a unified whole. Burnett and Nitzberg move beyond existing theory and analysis to base their theory from the standpoint of chromatic 'pitch fields'. These fields are the specific chromatic pitch choices that a composer uses to inform and design a complete composition, utilizing

Book Philosophers on Music

Download or read book Philosophers on Music written by Kathleen Stock and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2010-06-03 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Philosophers on Music: Experience, Meaning, and Work presents significant new contributions to central issues in the philosophy of music, written by leading philosophers working in the analytic tradition. Music is an increasingly popular object of reflection for professional philosophers, as it raises special questions not only of relevance to music practitioners, theorists, and philosophers of art, but also of wider philosophical interest to those working in metaphysics, the philosophy of emotion, and the philosophy of language, among other areas. The wide range of contributors to this volume reflects this level of interest. It includes both well-known philosophers of music drawing on a wealth of reflection to produce new and often startling conclusions, and philosophers relatively new to the philosophy of music yet eminent in other philosophical fields, who are able to bring a fresh perspective, informed by that background, to their topic of choice. The issues tackled in this volume include what sort of thing a work of music is; the nature of the relation between a musical work and versions of it; the nature of musical expression and its contribution to musical experience; the relation of music to metaphor; the nature of musical irony; the musical status of electro-sonic art; and the nature of musical rhythm. Together these papers constitute some of the best new work in what is an exciting field of research, and one which has much to engage philosophers, aestheticians, and musicologists.

A pioneering composer and leader of the Second Viennese School, Arthur Schoenberg was one of the most important figures in twentieth-century classical music. In Schoenberg and His School, composer, conductor, and music theorist René Leibowitz offers an authoritative analysis of Schoenberg’s groundbreaking contributions to composition theory and Western polyphony. In addition to detailing his subject’s major works, Leibowitz also explores Schoenberg’s influence on the works of his two great disciples, Alban Berg and Anton Webern. Leibowitz considers how the influences of all three men have, in turn, created new movements within contemporary music today.
