Book Happiness Comes from Small Things

Download or read book Happiness Comes from Small Things written by Madan Arora Ph.D. and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-08-31 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a few simple ideas to be always happy. Does happiness require wealth, material objects-big houses, expensive and fancy cars, expensive diamonds and jewelry-big bank balance, awards and recognitions, and a large, highly recognized social circle of friends and acquaintances? No, the author believes. Quite to the contrary, happiness-in fact, lasting happiness-comes from simple things of life: a good family life, leisurely time spent with family and friends, having time to smell the roses and watch the sunset, doing everyday chores with full interest and dedication, and just by simple everyday living. While big, materialistic objects are transient, simple things are always there, waiting for us to be seen, touched, and enjoyed. This book is timely as we seem to be complicating our lives and, by doing so, feeling stressed and unhappy by wishing more and more than what we really need.

Book The Importance of the Little Things

Download or read book The Importance of the Little Things written by Libroteka and published by . This book was released on 2021-07-27 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometimes we make plans that are expected to bring happiness into our lives, whether it's a vacation, a graduation or a wedding. But it is the simple pleasures in life that can bring us continued joy. When we appreciate and enjoy the simple things, the gratitude we feel extends to other areas as well. Living in the present is important. Having a balanced approach is also important. When you think about the future, make plans to enjoy that time later, because someday the future will be your "in the moment". Don't neglect your planning for the future, but don't let it consume your life in an unhealthy way. Balance is key, and it will help you not feel stressed by focusing too much on one area. Living in the moment is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Happiness is achieved when we choose to live and enjoy the moment we are in, rather than longing for another time and place. If you make the most of the time and life you have been given here and now, you will know true happiness.

Book Ultralearning

Download or read book Ultralearning written by Scott Young and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2019-08-06 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now a Wall Street Journal bestseller. Learn a new talent, stay relevant, reinvent yourself, and adapt to whatever the workplace throws your way. Ultralearning offers nine principles to master hard skills quickly. This is the essential guide to future-proof your career and maximize your competitive advantage through self-education. In these tumultuous times of economic and technological change, staying ahead depends on continual self-education—a lifelong mastery of fresh ideas, subjects, and skills. If you want to accomplish more and stand apart from everyone else, you need to become an ultralearner. The challenge of learning new skills is that you think you already know how best to learn, as you did as a student, so you rerun old routines and old ways of solving problems. To counter that, Ultralearning offers powerful strategies to break you out of those mental ruts and introduces new training methods to help you push through to higher levels of retention. Scott H. Young incorporates the latest research about the most effective learning methods and the stories of other ultralearners like himself—among them Benjamin Franklin, chess grandmaster Judit Polgár, and Nobel laureate physicist Richard Feynman, as well as a host of others, such as little-known modern polymath Nigel Richards, who won the French World Scrabble Championship—without knowing French. Young documents the methods he and others have used to acquire knowledge and shows that, far from being an obscure skill limited to aggressive autodidacts, ultralearning is a powerful tool anyone can use to improve their career, studies, and life. Ultralearning explores this fascinating subculture, shares a proven framework for a successful ultralearning project, and offers insights into how you can organize and exe - cute a plan to learn anything deeply and quickly, without teachers or budget-busting tuition costs. Whether the goal is to be fluent in a language (or ten languages), earn the equivalent of a college degree in a fraction of the time, or master multiple tools to build a product or business from the ground up, the principles in Ultralearning will guide you to success.

Book The Morality of Happiness

Download or read book The Morality of Happiness written by Julia Annas and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1993-08-19 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ancient ethical theories, based on the notions of virtue and happiness, have struck many as an attractive alternative to modern theories. But we cannot find out whether this is true until we understand ancient ethics--and to do this we need to examine the basic structure of ancient ethical theory, not just the details of one or two theories. In this book, Annas brings together the results of a wide-ranging study of ancient ethical philosophy and presents it in a way that is easily accessible to anyone with an interest in ancient or modern ethics. She examines the fundamental notions of happiness and virtue, the role of nature in ethical justification and the relation between concern for self and concern for others. Her careful examination of the ancient debates and arguments shows that many widespread assumptions about ancient ethics are quite mistaken. Ancient ethical theories are not egoistic, and do not depend for their acceptance on metaphysical theories of a teleological kind. Most centrally, they are recognizably theories of morality, and the ancient disputes about the place of virtue in happiness can be seen as akin to modern disputes about the demands of morality.

Book It s a Happy World The Little Things That Make People Happy

Download or read book It s a Happy World The Little Things That Make People Happy written by Jimmy Chua and published by eBookIt.com. This book was released on 2014-10-23 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is going to share with you how to see the world in HAPPY LIGHT. It is about how to always seeing the BRIGHT side of things, for example we need to lose something in order to learn, but as long as we are safe and HAPPY, we can always get it back and more! WHY DO WE NEED TO SEE THE WORLD AS HAPPY? There are people who incurred huge financial debts and when they learned to get out of the debts, they became millionaires and more! The solution they found actually helped them to increase their capacity to have more, even though the initial hardships caused them tremendous pain and suffering. Being HAPPY doesn't mean suppressing your other emotions, it is letting out that, thus by not holding onto the past, you are free to pursue your DREAMS! Why do we always believe that Others are better in this and that, rather accepting that we are all unique and different. We may sing, dance, write better than others, thus there is division of labour where each individual has the choice to choose what you enjoy doing and exchange these "goods" and "services" with others. Goods are known as Goods simply it feels GOOD to US! (Do you want to buy BADS? Hahaha) The other way to see things in a HAPPY WAY is simply accepting that we allow things to unfold in its own timing, like a flower will bloom in spring and wither in autumn. For me, based in Singapore, where it is SUMMER all year round, since I am living on the tropical climate of the Equator that receives lots and lots of Sunshine, I would travel out of Singapore to experience the four seasons! That was the reason that captivated me to stay in UK, where I was based in Manchester, Cambridge and Glasgow. After staying in UK, I realised I missed Sunshine a lot, so it is good to be back! As such, one can always change as we discover what we enjoy and it can remain HAPPY as long as we see the bright side of thing. I love the cold and cloudy "gloomy" like weather because I can sleep lots, stay indoor to read and of course drink lots of HOT Tea that I constantly put on the hot water boiler in my room. And yes room temperature (20 degrees celsius) COKE taste warm and yummy in cold snowy winter (-3 degrees celsius). In a nutshell, we see the world as HAPPY to keep us positive and enthusiastic and appreciate our life for what it is. Only then, can we bring joy and love to those around.

We see and feel the happiness that’s already there, waiting to be accessed and fully lived. #2 Impatience is a major bully to happiness. It pushes happiness out of the neighborhood almost as soon as it shows up. But learning to accept and allow, to go with the flow and relax a bit, is critical to living a happy life. #3 Gratefulness is the ability to notice the good in the midst of the bad, the color against the backdrop of gray, and the lovely even though it’s surrounded by the ugly. #4 Forgiving others is a way to release old pain and open yourself up to new opportunities. It’s time we freed ourselves by letting old pain dissipate into the darkness, so that new opportunities can take us to greater heights of joy.
