Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have written the stories of this book for my personal pleasure, to recreate experiences that I would like to have lived, but did not have the good fortune to do so. However, each one has been generated by a grain of reality perhaps just from a fleeting glance or a situation never fully resolved. The subject matter of each of these stories is erotic. From a young age I have been a voracious reader, and the erotic genre has always interested me. The percentage of time devoted to these readings, has been increasing over time, and is now overwhelmingly dominant for me. However, more importantly, I have come to appreciate the powerful role of sex in human behavior in general and in myself in particular. As long as our fundamental needs for food and water are met, the desire for the erotic prevail over, or at least color, all other concerns. The survival of the species after all depends on this drive. Sex is at the crossroads between survival and extinction. There is a strong component that was suppressed in my childhood for social and cultural reasons. Over time this restraint has be released. I believe that a certain kind of physical sex is much more important for men than for women. For women, a primary drive and source of satisfaction is the protection and welfare of offspring. Male sex, on the other hand, is linked to power relations. Usually a man by his nature wants many partners, and may seek them indiscriminately. This might include homosexual contacts. For those who have found the latter, they have also discovered a liberating freedom to pursue sex in its pure an unadulterated form unfettered by responsibilities or consequences. Sex with like-minded males is pure and hard. The stories I write must first be exciting for me and also, I hope, the reader. They are in that sense, stories to be read with only one hand. I realize that not everyone has the same sensitivity; indeed each one of us is unique. However, it is very important for me to know that someone gets pleasure by reading my stories. The knowledge that another person has been touched and excited with the images that I created, makes me feel an intimate contact with them. As situations and feeling are described, I hope they evoke responses in others as they did myself. This contact through words and images may be more profound and exciting than direct physical contact itself. Sex, like many other things, lies in the complex and wonderful organ that is our brain. It excites me to think that someone masturbates with my stories, and that I am the one who is providing him pleasure even though my hands never touch him. I sought to create sensual scenes that may be both delicate and powerful as well as representing profound truths. In the stories that follow some situations and emotions reoccur. Some might say in a obsessive way. So be it. They include first times experiences, but predominantly they are predator-prey relationship, dominant and submissive roles, initiator and initiated situations, master and apprentice associations, and relationships with marked age differences. All the younger characters are of legal age. I also like the play of light and shadow, between desire and fear. My stories depict the dualities of sex, smooth and rough, curve and edge, cold and heat, resistance and surrender. The relationship between pleasure and pain are also explored. Whether they are derived from biology or culture, I believe they lie within all. Active and passive roles are traditionally stated as those of the male and the female, but I submit they are present in all of us to a greater or lesser degree. I recognize both types of sensations in myself and I presume readers will too. The position between the two poles depends on the person, but the two are inseparable and cannot exist without each other. In these stories, the staging sketches are intentionally cinematographic. To accompany the images I attempt to create, I suggest background music to your own taste.

Download or read book The Voyeur s Motel written by Gay Talese and published by Grove/Atlantic, Inc.. This book was released on 2016-07-12 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The controversial chronicle of a motel owner who secretly studied the sex lives of his guests by the renowned journalist and author of Thy Neighbor’s Wife. On January 7, 1980, in the run-up to the publication of his landmark bestseller Thy Neighbor’s Wife, Gay Talese received an anonymous letter from a man in Colorado. “Since learning of your long-awaited study of coast-to-coast sex in America,” the letter began, “I feel I have important information that I could contribute to its contents or to contents of a future book.” The man—Gerald Foos—hen divulged an astonishing secret: he had bought a motel outside Denver for the express purpose of satisfying his voyeuristic desires. Underneath its peaked roof, he had built an “observation platform” through which he could peer down on his unwitting guests. Over the years, Foos sent Talese hundreds of pages of notes on his guests, work that Foos believed made him a pioneering researcher into American society and sexuality. Through his Voyeur’s motel, he witnessed and recorded the harsh effects of the war in Vietnam, the upheaval in gender roles, the decline of segregation, and much more. In The Voyeur’s Motel. “the reader observes Talese observing Foos observing his guests.” An extraordinary work of narrative journalism, it is at once an examination of one unsettling man and a portrait of the secret life of the American heartland over the latter half of the twentieth century (Daily Mail, UK). “This is a weird book about weird people doing weird things, and I wouldn’t have put it down if the house were on fire.” —John Greenya, Washington Times

Book excerpt: **Named One of Book Riot’s BEST QUEER BOOKS OF 2017** “Packed with story and drama … If Tennessee Williams’s ‘Suddenly Last Summer’ could be transposed to the 21st-century South, where queer liberation co-exists alongside the stubborn remains of fire and brimstone, it might read something like this juicy, moving hot mess of a novel.” –Tim Murphy, The Washington Post A searing debut novel centering around a gay-to-straight conversion camp in Mississippi and a man's reckoning with the trauma he faced there as a teen. Camp Levi, nestled in the Mississippi countryside, is designed to “cure” young teenage boys of their budding homosexuality. Will Dillard, a midwestern graduate student, spent a summer at the camp as a teenager, and has since tried to erase the experience from his mind. But when a fellow student alerts him that a slasher movie based on the camp is being released, he is forced to confront his troubled history and possible culpability in the death of a fellow camper. As past and present are woven together, Will recounts his “rehabilitation,” eventually returning to the abandoned campgrounds to solve the mysteries of that pivotal summer, and to reclaim his story from those who have stolen it. With a masterful confluence of sensibility and place, How to Survive a Summer is a searing, unforgettable novel that introduces an exciting new literary voice. “Clear and moving, revealing White’s talent in evoking the complexities of the rural South.” —Publishers Weekly

Book excerpt: The Sweet's Price for Edenville and Other Stories of Black Gay Males consists of eight short stories about black gay males in the Southeastern United States and the ways they try to define their sexuality within a culture that can love them just as much as it can attempt to conscript them in a narrow definition of blackness and manhood in a long war against racism. Often the first casualty is the heart. From the very young who may not know the word "gay" to the older who may run from that same word or try to define themselves within it, each is trying to make a space for an authentic expression of their humanity in loving and sometimes hostile personal worlds.
