Book We Want to Go to School

Download or read book We Want to Go to School written by Maryann Cocca-Leffler and published by Albert Whitman & Company. This book was released on 2021-09-15 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Junior Library Guild Selection February 2022 The true story of the people who helped make every public school a more inclusive place. There was a time in the United States when millions of children with disabilities weren't allowed to go to public school. But in 1971, seven kids and their families wanted to do something about it. They knew that every child had a right to an equal education, so they went to court to fight for that right. The case Mills v. Board of Education of the District of Columbia led to laws ensuring children with disabilities would receive a free, appropriate public education. Told in the voice of Janine Leffler, one of the millions of kids who went to school because of these laws, this book shares the true story of this landmark case.

Book Handbook of Behavior Therapy in Education

Download or read book Handbook of Behavior Therapy in Education written by S.N. Elliott and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 832 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do we know about behavioral analysis and intervention in educational settings? Given that educational institutions were among the first to embrace the new technology of behavior change in the late 1950s and early 1960s, it is apparent that we have had the opportunity to learn a great deal. The evolution of the field of behavior therapy has witnessed a change in the behavior therapist from an adolescent fascination with repeatedly demonstrating the effectiveness of the new technology to a mature recognition of the complex implications of the behav ioral paradigm for individuals, systems, and society. Many "facts" now taken for granted were considered impossibilities a mere two decades ago. In her 1986 presidential address to Division 25 of the American Psychological Association, Beth Sulzer-Azaroff reviewed a number of changes in attitude in education that were strongly influenced by behavior therapy. Most educators now agree that (a) everyone can learn, (b) complex skills can be taught, (c) precise, general, and durable performance can be taught, and (d) barriers to learning can be overcome. In addition, we would add that behavior therapy is being applied to increasingly more complex human problems, such as social skill deficits, internalizing disorders, and dysfunctional systems and organizations.

Book Legal Methods

  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 904 pages

Download or read book Legal Methods written by Peter L. Strauss and published by Thomson West. This book was released on 2005 with total page 904 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How should students begin their legal education? Professor Peter Strauss's innovative materials build on a Columbia Law School commitment reaching back to Karl Llewellyn's Bramble Bush -- that legal education should start with orientation to the materials lawyers use and the institutions they deal with. Professor Strauss focuses on the skills beginning law students need for using cases, statutes, and secondary materials in their education. He does so by following the development across time of American legal doctrines about product liability and workplace injury, caselaw and statutory, and of the institutions that created those doctrines, judicial and legislative. Along the way, students encounter not only the appellate opinions typical of law school teaching materials, but also lawyers' arguments and briefs, considerable stretches of legislative history materials, and a good deal of secondary literature -- largely, excerpts bearing on the continuing controversies over statutory interpretation.
