Book Using Artificial Intelligence to Solve Transportation Problems

Download or read book Using Artificial Intelligence to Solve Transportation Problems written by Aleksander Sładkowski and published by Springer. This book was released on 2024-10-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the role of Artificial Intelligence in solving transportation problems and presents papers from around the world on AI in transportation. Currently, the development of computer technology and software has led to what can be said to be the beginning of a fundamentally new stage in science and technology. This new level is called “Artificial Intelligence (AI).” AI can be used in any area of human activity. One of the broadest uses of AI comes from transportation, broadly understood. Obviously, it is impossible to present all the possibilities of AI in the field of design, production and operation of transport in one book. But the authors of this monothematic monograph tried to describe achievements in their areas. In particular, the use of AI allows you to save energy and fuel when using vehicles, improve the preparation and implementation of transport processes, simplify warehouse operations, analyze and modernize existing transport infrastructure. These and other aspects of the use of AI in the transport industry are discussed in the monograph by specialists from Greece, China, Poland and other countries. This book can be recommended for study by scientists and professionals. It can also be selected by teachers as additional material when preparing relevant courses. Moreover, it can also be recommended for any readers seriously interested in the transportation industry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume tackles a quickly-evolving field of inquiry, mapping the existing discourse as part of a general attempt to place current developments in historical context; at the same time, breaking new ground in taking on novel subjects and pursuing fresh approaches. The term "A.I." is used to refer to a broad range of phenomena, from machine learning and data mining to artificial general intelligence. The recent advent of more sophisticated AI systems, which function with partial or full autonomy and are capable of tasks which require learning and 'intelligence', presents difficult ethical questions, and has drawn concerns from many quarters about individual and societal welfare, democratic decision-making, moral agency, and the prevention of harm. This work ranges from explorations of normative constraints on specific applications of machine learning algorithms today-in everyday medical practice, for instance-to reflections on the (potential) status of AI as a form of consciousness with attendant rights and duties and, more generally still, on the conceptual terms and frameworks necessarily to understand tasks requiring intelligence, whether "human" or "A.I."

Nowadays, AI has begun actions to resemble a person in a real sense, and the idea of human-liked robotics put forward by scientists has started to be realized and will probably complete its development as living machines in the near future. AI has many subsystems and application in various industries, some of which have automation more accurately and are more integrated in modern industries. This book also targets a mixed audience of specialists, analysts, engineers, scholars, researchers, academics, professionals, and students from different communities to share and contribute new ideas, methodologies, technologies, approaches, models, frameworks, theories, and practices to resolve the challenging issues associated with the leveraging of AI and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in green transportation ecosystem.

Book The Intelligent Transport Systems Handbook

Download or read book The Intelligent Transport Systems Handbook written by Permanent International Association of Road Congresses and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intelligent Transport Systems, or ITS, have emerged over the past 15 years as a set of technology-based, but people friendly methods designed to deliver a better road transportation system. ITS embraces a broad range of information technologies (IT), satellite and communications-based information, control and digital technologies. Collectively, these offer new possibilities for solving what seem to be intractable problems of congestion, traffic accidents, inefficient logistics, and the environmental impact of surface transportation. Recognising these new developments in ITS, and with the benefit of recent practical experience in various countries around the world, the World Road Association (PIARC) prepared this Revised Edition of the Intelligent Transport Systems Handbook. The Handbook is intended to guide transport professionals and other people who are interested in implementing ITS in their cities, for their inter-urban highways, long-distance corridors, and rural regions.

Book Introduction to Intelligent Systems in Traffic and Transportation

Download or read book Introduction to Intelligent Systems in Traffic and Transportation written by Ana L.C. Rosenfeld and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urban mobility is not only one of the pillars of modern economic systems, but also a key issue in the quest for equality of opportunity, once it can improve access to other services. Currently, however, there are a number of negative issues related to traffic, especially in mega-cities, such as economical issues (cost of opportunity caused by delays), environmental (externalities related to emissions of pollutants), and social (traffic accidents). Solutions to these issues are more and more closely tied to information and communication technology. Indeed, a search in the technical literature (using the keyword ``urban traffic" to filter out articles on data network traffic) retrieved the following number of articles (as of December 3, 2013): 9,443 (ACM Digital Library), 26,054 (Scopus), and 1,730,000 (Google Scholar). Moreover, articles listed in the ACM query relate to conferences as diverse as MobiCom, CHI, PADS, and AAMAS. This means that there is a big and diverse community of computer scientists and computer engineers who tackle research that is connected to the development of intelligent traffic and transportation systems. It is also possible to see that this community is growing, and that research projects are getting more and more interdisciplinary. To foster the cooperation among the involved communities, this book aims at giving a broad introduction into the basic but relevant concepts related to transportation systems, targeting researchers and practitioners from computer science and information technology. In addition, the second part of the book gives a panorama of some of the most exciting and newest technologies, originating in computer science and computer engineering, that are now being employed in projects related to car-to-car communication, interconnected vehicles, car navigation, platooning, crowd sensing and sensor networks, among others. This material will also be of interest to engineers and researchers from the traffic and transportation community.
