Download or read book Handbook of the Infrared Optical Properties of Al2O3 Carbon MGO and ZrO2 written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 1 of this handbook presents the compiled results of a comprehensive survey of the open literature relevant to the infrared optical properties of aluminum oxide, carbon, magnesium oxide, and zirconium dioxide. Literature data were critically reviewed and representative data chosen on mathematically constructed for refractive and extinction indices, spectral and total emissivities, reflectance, and transmittance over the 1 to 1000 micrometer spectral range. All data are presented in both graphic and tabular format, and a cross-referenced bibliography is included.

Book Handbook of Optical Constants of Solids

Download or read book Handbook of Optical Constants of Solids written by Edward D. Palik and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1991-03-21 with total page 1117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook--a sequel to the widely used Handbook of Optical Constants of Solids--contains critical reviews and tabulated values of indexes of refraction (n) and extinction coefficients (k) for almost 50 materials that were not covered in the original handbook. For each material, the best known n and k values have been carefully tabulated, from the x-ray to millimeter-wave region of the spectrum by expert optical scientists. In addition, the handbook features thirteen introductory chapters that discuss the determination of n and k by various techniques. * Contributors have decided the best values for n and k * References in each critique allow the reader to go back to the original data to examine and understand where the values have come from * Allows the reader to determine if any data in a spectral region needs to be filled in * Gives a wide and detailed view of experimental techniques for measuring the optical constants n and k * Incorporates and describes crystal structure, space-group symmetry, unit-cell dimensions, number of optic and acoustic modes, frequencies of optic modes, the irreducible representation, band gap, plasma frequency, and static dielectric constant

Book OPTICAL AND INFRARED PROPERTIES OF AL2O3 AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES

Download or read book OPTICAL AND INFRARED PROPERTIES OF AL2O3 AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES written by and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was made of the absorption coefficient and the index refraction as a function of both wavelength and temperature. Samples of single crystals of Al2O3 (sapphire) were heated to various temperatures up to 2020C. The absorption coefficient and index of refraction were measured as a function of wavelength from 0.546 microns to approximately 6 microns. Measurements of the emission of polycrystalline Al2O3, which is a ceramic material made for use in high temperature furnaces, indicates that the general behavior of the emissivity is similar to what one would expect on the basis of the measurements of the absorption coefficient of the single crystal sapphire.

Book Handbook of Optical Materials

Download or read book Handbook of Optical Materials written by Marvin J. Weber and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years scientists turned to the CRC Handbook of Laser Science & Technology for reliable data on optical materials. Out of print for several years, that standard-setting work now has a successor: the Handbook of Optical Materials. This new handbook is an authoritative compilation of the physical properties of materials used in all types of lasers and optical systems. In it, scientist, author, and editor Dr. Marvin J. Weber provides extensive data tabulations and references for the most important optical materials, including crystals, glasses, polymers, metals, liquids, and gases. The properties detailed include both linear and nonlinear optical properties, mechanical properties, thermal properties together with many additional special properties, such as electro-, magneto-, and elasto-optic properties. Using a minimum of narration and logically organized by material properties, the handbook's unique presentation simplifies the process of comparing different materials for their suitability in particular applications. Appendices furnish a wealth of other useful information, including lists of the many abbreviations and acronyms that proliferate in this field. The Handbook of Optical Materials is simply the most complete one-stop source available for materials data essential to lasers and optical systems.

Book Venus II geology Geophysics Atmosphere and Solar Wind Environment

Download or read book Venus II geology Geophysics Atmosphere and Solar Wind Environment written by Stephen Wesley Bougher and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 1997-12 with total page 1384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The final orbit of Venus by the Magellan spacecraft in October 1994 brought to a close an exciting period of Venus reconnaissance and exploration. The scientific studies resulting from data collected by the Magellan, Galileo, and Pioneer missions are unprecedented in their detail for any planet except Earth. Venus II re-evaluates initial assessments of Venus in light of these and other spacecraft missions and ground-based observations conducted over the past 30 years. More than a hundred contributors summarize our current knowledge of the planet, consider points of disagreement in interpretation, and identify priorities for future research. Topics addressed include geology, surface processes, volcanism, tectonism, impact cratering, geodynamics, upper and lower atmospheres, and solar wind environment. The diversity of the coverage reflects the interdisciplinary nature of Venus science and the breadth of knowledge that has contributed to it. A CD-ROM developed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory accompanies the book and incorporates text, graphics, video, software, and various digital products from selected contributors to the text. A multimedia interface allows users to navigate the text and the extensive databases included on the disk. Venus II is the most authoritative single volume available on the second planet. Its contents will not only help shape the goals of future Venus missions but will also enhance our understanding of current Mars explorations.
