Download or read book Cat Fear No Evil written by Shirley Rousseau Murphy and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-10-13 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A feline P.I. and his four-legged friends investigate murder, robbery, and an evil cat in California in this cozy mystery. When antiques and valuables begin to disappear from residents’ homes, Joe Grey knows that something is very wrong in sleepy Molena Point, California. Could the thief be a local or, even worse, is it the old crook who may be connected to Azrael, the sinister, yellow-eyed cat who terrorized Joe and Dulcie years ago, and whose return has Joe’s fur standing on edge? Even seasoned tomcat like Joe isn’t prepared for the shock that awaits Molena Point residents at the opening for artist Charlie Harper. While guests are dining on hors d’oeuvres and fine wine at the celebration, a young, healthy waiter drops dead at Charlie’s feet. Meanwhile, just north of Molena Point, in San Francisco, the cats’ friend Kate, a woman with a troubling secret, is followed by a stranger and robbed. Her apartment is then gutted, with claw marks and black cat hair leading her to suspect the vicious tomcat Azrael. In the most dramatic investigation of their lives, Joe Grey, Dulcie, and Kit, following diverse leads, scratch out the truth and, with cunning feline skills, restore a distraught village to its usual cozy tranquility. Praise for Cat Fear No Evil “[A] superior cat cozy. . . . As usual, the relationships between the lively human characters and the talking cats in whom they confide their problems provide as much interest as the crime solving. The intricate and absorbing plot keeps the reader in suspense throughout.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review “The fast-paced story involves sophisticated burglary, murder, and the bizarre secret of Kate's own nature. Once again the delightful mix of humans, sentient cats, mystery, and humor remains true to the preceding books in the series, only this time with a larger dollop of fantasy, which should extend the audience beyond the usual cat-mystery buffs.” —Booklist

Download or read book Marvelous Crochet Motifs written by Ellen Gormley and published by Annie's. This book was released on 2014-07-01 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 48 motifs in this book are squares or hexagons that can be tiled together to make a fabric. Also included are half motifs, which keep the integrity of the design but are only pieces of the motif. These are used to neatly fill in spaces and add shape, and they give more flexibility when building a project. Motifs in themselves can be complete projects, such as coasters or washcloths. Or multiple motifs can be added together to make something larger, including a scarf or a placemat. By stitching even more motifs together, you can even create a wrap or an afghan. The designs that can be made using motifs are limitless. As an extra bonus, the book contains symbol crochet for each motif and design. The four designs are a scarf, a hat, a cowl, and a blanket. All motifs and projects can be made using Plymouth Encore worsted-weight yarn.
Download or read book Geometry and Algebra in Ancient Civilizations written by Bartel L. van der Waerden and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally, my intention was to write a "History of Algebra", in two or three volumes. In preparing the first volume I saw that in ancient civiliza tions geometry and algebra cannot well be separated: more and more sec tions on ancient geometry were added. Hence the new title of the book: "Geometry and Algebra in Ancient Civilizations". A subsequent volume on the history of modem algebra is in preparation. It will deal mainly with field theory, Galois theory and theory of groups. I want to express my deeply felt gratitude to all those who helped me in shaping this volume. In particular, I want to thank Donald Blackmore Wagner (Berkeley) who put at my disposal his English translation of the most interesting parts of the Chinese "Nine Chapters of the Art of Arith metic" and of Liu Hui's commentary to this classic, and also Jacques Se siano (Geneva), who kindly allowed me to use his translation of the re cently discovered Arabic text of four books of Diophantos not extant in Greek. Warm thanks are also due to Wyllis Bandler (Colchester, England) who read my English text very carefully and suggested several improve ments, and to Annemarie Fellmann (Frankfurt) and Erwin Neuenschwan der (Zurich) who helped me in correcting the proof sheets. Miss Fellmann also typed the manuscript and drew the figures. I also want to thank the editorial staff and production department of Springer-Verlag for their nice cooperation.
