Download or read book Commercial Dispute Resolution in China written by Beijing Arbitration Commission and published by Wolterskluwer HK. This book was released on 2023-10-14 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2022, with the pandemic continually impacted the world economy, coupled with the ongoing competition among major powers and the ever-changing geopolitical landscape, China’s commercial dispute resolution has adapted to the new economic form, presenting new changes and embracing new development. In the field of commercial arbitration, the amendments to the Arbitration Law were being accelerated, as it has been included in the annual legislative review projects of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. The Arbitration Association of China has been registered, attracting significant attention both within and outside the industry. Arbitration institutions, including the Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Center, have improved systems and rules for online arbitration and hearings, innovated the supply of arbitration services, and promoted the development of arbitration practices. Meanwhile, China’s arbitration judicial review and the opening up of arbitration have also drawn a lot of attention and highlights. In the field of commercial mediation, “headquarters-to-headquarters” online dispute resolution has been comprehensively promoted in response to the call of the times. This has driven the effective linkage of various dispute resolution mechanisms such as litigation, arbitration, and mediation, achieving good results. Various mediation organizations are constantly improving their rules and innovating their service models, which strongly promotes the development of commercial mediation. In key professional sectors, the construction of the rule of law and dispute resolution are continuously adapting to the demands of new economic forms. Since 2013, BAC/BIAC has been continuously organizing industry experts to write the Commercial Dispute Resolution in China: An Annual Review and Preview (hereinafter referred to as the “Annual Review”), which is published globally in both Chinese and English. The Annual Review and the Annual Summit based thereon have become an important window for people at home and abroad to understand the development of China’s commercial dispute resolution, establishing an important platform for dispute resolution professionals at home and abroad to communicate and interact. The Commercial Dispute Resolution in China: An Annual Review and Preview (2023) continues to uphold the concept of being rooted in and serving practice. Through systematic reviews of industry overviews, key legal regulations and policies, analysis of model cases, observations on hot issues, and forecasts for the industry in the coming year, it provides support for market entities in making business decisions and enhancing risk prevention and dispute resolution capabilities.

Book Just Like Us The Politics of Ministerial Promotion in UK Government

Download or read book Just Like Us The Politics of Ministerial Promotion in UK Government written by Bill Jones and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-07-19 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Informed by interviews with key political figures and commentators, this entertaining and enlightening book exposes the influences, processes and motivations behind ministerial promotion in British government. It identifies and analyses the political sinews that have influenced the selection and upward progression of our rulers since the middle of the last century. Given that politics is fuelled by ambition, it provides commentary on how this often-criticised emotional drive can work positively in practice, motivating politicians to strive constantly for advancement in their quest for power and achievement. Drawing upon many biographies, it explains how politics is essentially about the strengths and frailties of the people who occupy positions of power. It illustrates that climbing up that greasy pole is dependent upon a number of key character traits of politicians: their strength of desire; their abilities/skills as communicators, managers and administrators; the ways in which fate throws up opportunities; and the raw courage of politicians in confronting these challenges. Ultimately, the book illuminates the abiding obsessions of that tiny but potent minority in democratic societies who dare to dream they can rule over us. This book will be of key interest to scholars, students and anyone interested in British political history, biography and the politics of executive government.

Book Far Right Newspeak and the Future of Liberal Democracy

Download or read book Far Right Newspeak and the Future of Liberal Democracy written by A. James McAdams and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-04-23 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first systematic, multicountry exploration of far-right Newspeak. The contributors analyze the ways in which contemporary far-right politicians, intellectuals, and pundits use and abuse traditional liberal concepts and ideas to justify positions that threaten democratic institutions and liberal principles. They explore cases of both far-right and right-wing thought in eastern and western Europe, the United States, and Canada. Subjects include well-known figures, such as Marine Le Pen, Tucker Carlson, Peter Thiel, Nick Griffin, Thierry Baudet, Jordan Peterson, Russell Brand, and Viktor Orbán, and lesser-known names, such as the Czech politician Tomio Okamura and the Internet personality "Raw Egg Nationalist." The contributors examine these figures’ claims about hot-button issues, including immigration, Islam, race, Covid-19 policies, feminism, monetary policy, and free speech. The book demonstrates that mainstream politicians and intellectuals are at risk of losing control over the definitions of the very concepts, including equal rights, racial and ethnic diversity, and political tolerance, that undergird their vision of liberal democracy. It will be of interest to scholars, journalists, policymakers, political scientists, historians, political theorists, sociologists, and general audiences concerned about the sophisticated efforts of far-right and right-wing politicians and pundits to undermine the foundations of liberal democracy.
