Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A pictorial history of the legendary Lockheed spy plane, written by one of its pilots and “filled to the brim with information and revelation” (Seattle Post Intelligencer Travel for Aircraft blog). At the height of the Cold War in 1964, President Johnson announced a new aircraft dedicated to strategic reconnaissance. The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird spy plane flew more than three-and-a-half times the speed of sound, so fast that no other aircraft could catch it. Above 80,000 feet, its pilots had to wear full-pressure flight suits similar to what was used aboard the space shuttle. Developed by the renowned Lockheed Skunk Works, the SR-71 was an awesome aircraft in every respect, and it took the world by storm. The SR-71 was in service with the US Air Force from 1964 to 1998, when it was withdrawn from use, superseded by satellite technology. Twelve of the thirty-two aircraft were destroyed in accidents, but none were ever lost to enemy action. Throughout its thirty-four-year career, the SR-71 was the world’s fastest and highest-flying operational manned aircraft. It set world records for altitude and speed: an absolute altitude record of 85,069 feet on July 28, 1974, and an absolute speed record of 2,193.2 miles per hour on the same day. On September 1, 1974, it set a speed and time record over a recognized course between New York and London (3,508 miles) of 1,435.587 miles per hour and an elapsed time of 1 hour, 54 minutes, 56.4 seconds. SR-71 covers every aspect of the plane’s development, manufacture, modification, and active service from the insider’s perspective of one its pilots—and is lavishly illustrated with more than 200 photos.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Under Attack David Alexander tells the story of the next phase of the continuing war against international terrorist forces. As the book opens, the successors to Al Qaeda are planning a bold new series of terrorist strikes against high-priority military, civilian, government and commercial targets around the world. Under Attack is not only an unforgettable page-turner ... it is also a warning of what might happen tomorrow if America grows careless again. David Alexander -- dubbed "the best damn action writer in the business" -- has a gift for extrapolating tomorrow's history from today's events. As the book opens, the successors to Al Qaeda are planning a bold new series of terrorist strikes against high-priority military, civilian, government and commercial targets around the world. The keystone and culminating event of these phased attacks is to be Strike Day, when an attack on the United States, on U.S. military forces abroad, and on one of America's chief Middle Eastern allies, is planned to strike a hammerblow against the edifice of American global power that will send the U.S. sliding into chaos. Against a backdrop of NATO regional warfare on the Arabian littoral to attack terrorist strongholds before these devastating attacks will occur, an elite U.S. special forces detachment, brought into being by secret presidential finding, spearheads the assault on the center of enemy power. On Strike Day its commander will find himself virtually alone against the surprise attack on America that, if successful, will make both Pearl Harbor and September 11th pale by comparison. Under Attack will not only entertain ... it will inform and it will challenge. And it will be a book few will be able to put down after the first sentence has been read.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "THE PENTAGON IS TAKEN. IF YOU WANT IT BACK, FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS..." When an ousted mogul and his Russian partner team up to take over the US government, America's first woman president tackles the first major strategic challenge of her administration. Threatcon Delta: Assault on the Pentagon tells the story of how terrorism, treason and global organized crime converge to place the most potent symbol of American military power under the control of a determined and ruthless group of heavily armed and extremely dangerous men who can't be stopped, yet who must be stopped. This global superthriller is based both on author David Alexander's extensive and detailed research into the history of the Pentagon, combined with first-hand knowledge of the Pentagon's most closely held secrets by this veteran defense insider, all of which has been artfully woven into a masterpiece of high-concept suspense fiction. In fact, the combined impact of accuracy and authenticity blended with superb storytelling may find some readers asking themselves if perhaps some parts of the story shouldn't have been made public, for fear that terrorists or global criminals might some day use it as a basis for an actual plan of attack. Yet the assault on the Pentagon portrayed in the book is no standard terrorist martyrdom mission either. Those who've taken over the headquarters of the United States military have an exit strategy that has been brilliantly devised to shuttle them to safety and provide for the enjoyment of their ill-gotten profits -- a scam on a global scale that promises to net the Puzzle Palace's hijackers a considerable fortune. By any standard, Threatcon Delta: Assault on the Pentagon is action thriller fiction at its boldest and best. It's one of the achievements that have earned author David Alexander a secure place at the top of the list of the world's masters of the game. Praise for Threatcon Delta: Assault on the Pentagon "If you read no other technothrilller this year, read this awesome action yarn by David Alexander ... it's guaranteed to make you lose sleep." --Arlington Times Threatcon Delta: Assault on the Pentagon tells the story of how terrorism, treason and global organized crime converge to place the most potent symbol of American military power under the control of a determined and ruthless group of heavily armed and extremely dangerous men who can't be stopped, yet who must be stopped. Caught at ground zero is NYPD detective Jack Keller who barely escapes with his life. His longtime friend and former partner is not as lucky. Keller vows to bring the terrorist mastermind behind the strike to justice. He tracks him down in a global manhunt. Yet unknown to Keller time is running out. His quarry is gearing up for the boldest terrorist attack in history. Iran has given terrorists a theater nuclear missile in a bid to out-do the death toll on 911. If successful the doomsday plan will unleash a nuclear nightmare on millions of victims and set the stage for worse to come. In the end everything hinges on a hard-as-nails New York police detective who stakes his life in a global chase after the terrorist chieftain he's determined to bring to justice no matter what or who he has to sacrifice in order to do it. The action scenes in Paris and Venice are gripping and move faster than greased lightning, giving the impression that Alexander knows every back street, hidden ally and public square, every public monument and off-the-beaten-path corner of these European cities, and also knows just which elements to use in his masterfully conceived and boldly executed plot. The dark narrative tapestry of Chain Reaction also places this thriller squarely amid the select ranks of classic hardboiled fiction. This is a contemporary thriller, though, and one in which Alexander manages to mix successfully an intricate plot with exotic locales, a considerable amount of action, and solid characters. Chain reaction is a thriller fan's dream; exciting, involving, thought-provoking. All in all, a first-class tale of intrigue by one of the top authors in the field.
