Book Registries for Evaluating Patient Outcomes

Download or read book Registries for Evaluating Patient Outcomes written by Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality/AHRQ and published by Government Printing Office. This book was released on 2014-04-01 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This User’s Guide is intended to support the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and quality evaluation of registries created to increase understanding of patient outcomes. For the purposes of this guide, a patient registry is an organized system that uses observational study methods to collect uniform data (clinical and other) to evaluate specified outcomes for a population defined by a particular disease, condition, or exposure, and that serves one or more predetermined scientific, clinical, or policy purposes. A registry database is a file (or files) derived from the registry. Although registries can serve many purposes, this guide focuses on registries created for one or more of the following purposes: to describe the natural history of disease, to determine clinical effectiveness or cost-effectiveness of health care products and services, to measure or monitor safety and harm, and/or to measure quality of care. Registries are classified according to how their populations are defined. For example, product registries include patients who have been exposed to biopharmaceutical products or medical devices. Health services registries consist of patients who have had a common procedure, clinical encounter, or hospitalization. Disease or condition registries are defined by patients having the same diagnosis, such as cystic fibrosis or heart failure. The User’s Guide was created by researchers affiliated with AHRQ’s Effective Health Care Program, particularly those who participated in AHRQ’s DEcIDE (Developing Evidence to Inform Decisions About Effectiveness) program. Chapters were subject to multiple internal and external independent reviews.

Book Handbook of Research on E Business Standards and Protocols Documents Data and Advanced Web Technologies

Download or read book Handbook of Research on E Business Standards and Protocols Documents Data and Advanced Web Technologies written by Kajan, Ejub and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2012-02-29 with total page 1021 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electronic business is a major force shaping the digital world. Yet, despite of years of research and standardization efforts, many problems persist that prevent e-business from achieving its full potential. Problems arise from different data vocabularies, classification schemas, document names, structures, exchange formats and their varying roles in business processes. Non-standardized business terminology, lack of common acceptable and understandable processes (grammar), and lack of common dialog rules (protocols) create barriers to improving electronic business processes. Handbook of Research on E-Business Standards and Protocols: Documents, Data and Advanced Web Technologies contains an overview of new achievements in the field of e-business standards and protocols, offers in-depth analysis of and research on the development and deployment of cutting-edge applications, and provides insight into future trends. This book unites new research that promotes harmony and agreement in business processes and attempts to choreograph business protocols and orchestrate semantic alignment between their vocabularies and grammar. Additionally, this Handbook of Research discusses new approaches to improving standards and protocols, which include the use of intelligent agents and Semantic Web technology.

Book Information Resource Description

Download or read book Information Resource Description written by Philip Hider and published by Facet Publishing. This book was released on 2012-11-23 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An overview of the field of information organization that examines resource description as both a product and process of the contemporary digital environment. This timely book employs the unifying mechanism of the semantic web and the resource description framework to integrate the various traditions and practices of information and knowledge organization. Uniquely, it covers both the domain-specific traditions and practices and the practices of the ‘metadata movement’ through a single lens – that of resource description in the broadest, semantic web sense. This approach more readily accommodates coverage of the new Resource Description and Access (RDA) standard, which aims to move library cataloguing into the centre of the semantic web. The work surrounding RDA looks set to revolutionise the field of information organization, and this book will bring both the standard and its model and concepts into focus. Key topics include: • information resource attributes • metadata for information retrieval • metadata sources and quality • economics and management of metadata • knowledge organization systems • the semantic web • books and e-books, websites and audiovisual resources • business and government documents • learning resources • the field of information/knowledge organization. Readership: LIS students taking information organization courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, information professionals wishing to specialise in the metadata area, and existing metadata specialists who wish to update their knowledge.

Book Cancer Systems Biology Bioinformatics and Medicine

Download or read book Cancer Systems Biology Bioinformatics and Medicine written by Alfredo Cesario and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-21 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This teaching monograph on systems approaches to cancer research and clinical applications provides a unique synthesis, by world-class scientists and doctors, of laboratory, computational, and clinical methods, thereby establishing the foundations for major advances not possible with current methods. Specifically, the book: 1) Sets the stage by describing the basis of systems biology and bioinformatics approaches, and the clinical background of cancer in a systems context; 2) Summarizes the laboratory, clinical, data systems analysis and bioinformatics tools, along with infrastructure and resources required; 3) Demonstrates the application of these tools to cancer research; 4) Extends these tools and methods to clinical diagnosis, drug development and treatment applications; and 5) Finishes by exploring longer term perspectives and providing conclusions. This book reviews the state-of-the-art, and goes beyond into new applications. It is written and highly referenced as a textbook and practical guide aimed at students, academics, doctors, clinicians, industrialists and managers in cancer research and therapeutic applications. Ideally, it will set the stage for integration of available knowledge to optimize communication between basic and clinical researchers involved in the ultimate fight against cancer, whatever the field of specific interest, whatever the area of activity within translational research.

Book Building Information Modeling

Download or read book Building Information Modeling written by Régine Teulier and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2023-12-22 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents how Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the use of shared representation of built assets facilitate design, construction and operation processes (ISO 19650). The modeling of public works data disrupts the art of construction. Written by both academics and engineers who are heavily involved in the French research project Modélisation des INformations INteropérables pour les INfrastructues Durables (MINnD) as well as in international standardization projects, this book presents the challenges of BIM from theoretical and practical perspectives. It provides knowledge for evolving in an ecosystem of federated models and common data environments, which are the basis of the platforms and data spaces. BIM makes it possible to handle interoperability very concretely, using open standards, which lead to openBIM. The use of a platform allows for the merging of business software and for approaches such as a Geographic Information System (GIS) to be added to the processes. In organizations, BIM meets the life cycles of structures and circular economy. It is not only a technique that reshapes cooperation and trades around a digital twin but can also disrupt organizations and business models.

Book Collaborative Cyber Threat Intelligence

Download or read book Collaborative Cyber Threat Intelligence written by Florian Skopik and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-10-16 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Threat intelligence is a surprisingly complex topic that goes far beyond the obvious technical challenges of collecting, modelling and sharing technical indicators. Most books in this area focus mainly on technical measures to harden a system based on threat intel data and limit their scope to single organizations only. This book provides a unique angle on the topic of national cyber threat intelligence and security information sharing. It also provides a clear view on ongoing works in research laboratories world-wide in order to address current security concerns at national level. It allows practitioners to learn about upcoming trends, researchers to share current results, and decision makers to prepare for future developments.
