Book Benefit Cost Analysis

Download or read book Benefit Cost Analysis written by Harry F. Campbell and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-06-16 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Benefit-Cost Analysis offers the perfect introduction to benefit–cost analysis. The book closely integrates the theory and practice of benefit–cost analysis using a spreadsheet framework. The spreadsheet model is constructed in a truly original way which contributes to transparency, provides a check on the accuracy of the analysis, and facilitates sensitivity, risk and alternative scenario assessment. A case study incorporating the various issues is progressively developed on a spreadsheet with the links between each stage thoroughly explained. The complete case study spreadsheet can serve as a template for the reader's own appraisal of projects in the field. In addition to the worked examples in the text some exercises are appended at the end of each chapter. For further information please visit http://www.uq.edu.au/economics/bca

Book Cost Benefit Analysis for Development

Download or read book Cost Benefit Analysis for Development written by Asian Development Bank and published by Asian Development Bank. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been continuously undertaking measures to enhance the effectiveness of its operations. To improve projects both at the preparation and implementation stages, ADB issued the Guidelines for Economic Analysis of Projects in 1997 as a means to enhancing project quality at entry. The conduct of proper economic analysis helps ensure the efficient use of development funds and public resources and thereby increase aid effectiveness. This practical guide is a supplement to the Guidelines for the Economic Analysis of Projects. It provides an overview of recent methodological developments in cost-benefit analysis as well as suggested improvements in the economic analysis of projects in selected sectors through case studies. These case studies illustrate the application of suggested methodologies, taking into account sector-specific needs, as well as difficulties faced by practitioners in terms of data and time constraints during project processing. It also aims to contribute to ADB’s capacity building initiatives as this will be the main reference material for conduct of economic analysis.

This book was released on 1995 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Canada's federal regulatory policy contains mandatory requirements that departments and agencies, before sponsoring a regulation, must show that regulation is the best alternative and that the regulatory program is structured to maximise the gains to beneficiaries in relation to costs to Canadians. This document is a guide to the use of cost benefit analysis for demonstrating that a proposed regulation maximises net benefit. It reviews how cost benefit analysis fits into the regulatory process, provides a framework for choosing regulatory and non-regulatory alternatives, and describes the type and level of analysis that must be completed before preparing Regulatory Impact Analysis Statements. Book Multiple Account Benefit Cost Analysis

Download or read book Multiple Account Benefit Cost Analysis written by Marvin Shaffer and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2010-10-16 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most commonly used in economic and public policy decisions, benefit-cost analysis traditionally attempts to calculate a bottom line by assigning monetary values to all factors associated with a proposed project or action. By contrast, multiple account benefit-cost analysis recognizes that all values are complex and that not all consequences can be expressed in monetary terms or incorporated into one summary measure of net benefit. In this textbook, designed for practitioners as well as for intermediate or advanced students, Marvin Shaffer illustrates how the basic principles and concepts of a benefit-cost analysis can be applied in a multiple account framework, in the process developing a systematic approach to the evaluation of project and policy alternatives. Though retaining the basic principles of benefit-cost analysis, Shaffer focuses more on identifying the advantages and disadvantages of key project alternatives and assessing their necessary trade-offs in order to better inform public policy debates.

Book Cost Benefit Analysis

Download or read book Cost Benefit Analysis written by Tevfik F. Nas and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on the principles of welfare economics and public finance, this second edition of Cost-Benefit Analysis: Theory and Application provides the theoretical foundation for a general framework within which costs and benefits are identified and assessed from a societal perspective. With a thorough coverage of cost-benefit concepts and their underlying theory, the volumecarries the reader through the steps of a typical evaluation process, including the identification, measurement, and comparison of costs and benefits, and project selection. Topics include alternative measures of welfare change, such as the concepts of consumer surplus and compensating and equivalent variation measures, shadow pricing, nonmarket valuation techniques of contingent valuation and discrete choice experiment, perspectives on what constitutes a theoretically acceptable discount rate, the social rate of time preference, income distribution, and much more. The book also focuses on real-world applications of cost-benefit analysis in two closely related areas—environment and health care—followed by an examination of the current state of the art in cost-benefit analysis as practiced by international agencies.
