Book Spellman s Standard Handbook for Wastewater Operators

Download or read book Spellman s Standard Handbook for Wastewater Operators written by Frank R. Spellman and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999-08-24 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spellman's Standard Handbook for Wastewater Operators, Volume 2: Intermediate Level provides information and unit process trouble-shooting guidance required on a daily basis, not only by the plant manager, plant superintendent, chief operator, lab technician, maintenance operator, but more importantly by and for the plant operator, and those in preparation for taking the entry-level Class IV/Class III or Grade I/II operator examinations. This handbook was prepared to help operators obtain licensing and to operate wastewater treatment plants properly. It can be used as a textbook in technical training courses in technical schools and at the junior college level. This is the second volume of a new study guide and readily accessible source of information for review in preparing wastewater personnel for operator certification and licensure. These handbooks are resource manuals and troubleshooting guides that contain a compilation of wastewater treatment information, data, operational material, process control procedures and problem solving, safety and health information, new trends in wastewater treatment administration and technology, and numerous sample problem-solving practice sets, many based on actual tests.

Book Methods for Wastewater Characterization in Activated Sludge Modelling

Download or read book Methods for Wastewater Characterization in Activated Sludge Modelling written by Henryk Melcer and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2004-11-01 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical modeling is a useful tool for the design, analysis and control of wastewater treatment systems. The activated sludge process is one of the most common processes used in wastewater treatment, and therefore is a particularly important candidate for the application of mathematical models. In the 1980s, a task group organized by the International Association on Water Quality (IAWQ) developed a conceptual model of the activated sludge process, which has become an industry-wide standard for the development of computer-based activated sludge models. A recent version of the IAWQ model incorporates 19 components, 17 processes, and numerous rate and stoichiometric coefficients. It is difficult and costly to quantify all of the necessary coefficients for any given application of the model; consequently, it is important to identify the most critical wastewater and biomass components and the relevant coefficients to be quantified for the most common uses of the model. It is also important to provide guidance to potential model users on the use of default and/or estimated values for the remaining parameters.

Book Guidelines for Auditing Process Safety Management Systems

Download or read book Guidelines for Auditing Process Safety Management Systems written by CCPS (Center for Chemical Process Safety) and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-11-30 with total page 960 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the fundamental skills, techniques, and tools of auditing, and the characteristics of a good process safety management system. A variety of approaches are given so the reader can select the best methodology for a given audit. This book updates the original CCPS Auditing Guideline project since the implementation of OSHA PSM regulation, and is accompanied by an online download featuring checklists for both the audit program and the audit itself. This package offers a vital resource for process safety and process development personnel, as well as related professionals like insurers.

Book Efficient Redundancy Design Practices

Download or read book Efficient Redundancy Design Practices written by T. M. Palmer and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2003-02-01 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design of wastewater treatment plants with redundancy to assure a quality end product may be in conflict with efforts to assure effectiveness. Redundancy of major system components is to assure compliance with regulations and protection of the environment and the health and safety of the public and treatment plant staff. However, the capital costs and maintenance associated with redundant equipment does not necessarily enhance facility performance. There are a number of forces driving the level of redundancy in plant designs. Federal and state compliance regulations and the design engineer's past experiences will influence the plant design. To some extent the plant staff may also provide input into the plant design and, therefore, contributes to the redundancy. This report determines alternative methods to address treatment plant redundancy, including examples of methods currently in place and, ideally, insight on the premises leading to these applications. A secondary objective is to identify the similarities and differences in redundancy requirements associated with federal and state regulatory agencies. Book Wastewater Treatment

Download or read book Wastewater Treatment written by Glenn M. Tillman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wastewater Treatment is another indispensable work from the author of Water Treatment. Both books are helpful tools for crisis identification and, most importantly, resolution. Tillman writes in a concise, well organized format - perfect for fast reference. This operator's guide presents basic troubleshooting and problem solving information for typical problems that can occur during the operation of processes used at municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. Common problems and the recommended operator responses are listed in tabular form for individual unit processes. Entry level operators will benefit greatly from the problems Tillman addresses, while experienced operators will appreciate it as a handy reference. The information compiled in this volume has been collected from various equipment manfacturers' operation and maintenance manuals, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) technology transfer documents, the authors personal experience as a plant Operations and Maintenance manual writer, and his experience as a plant manager and operator. He includes only the most common wastewater treatment unit processes. He gives an overview of the treatment objective of the unit process, and then provides each with a troubleshooting table divided into Indicators/Observations: Possible Cause; Check or Monitor; Possible Solutions columns. Wastewater Treatment reads like the best of training manuals. Tillman's know-how, combined with his clarity, make this book required occupational reading. The brief, straightforward format and easy-to-read tables make the guide an accessible problem solving reference.
