Book Air Force One Has Vanished

Download or read book Air Force One Has Vanished written by F. Lee Chambers and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-10-06 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Air Force One Has Vanished is a suspense novel about the newly elected president of the United States and what appeared to be his family boarding the plane on a beautiful night in April and then disappearing in flight. He was bound from Washington to Los Angeles to make a speech. Most people felt that all the indications led to the plane having crashed near Denver, where it was last seen. But did it? No trace was found after much searching. Then the smoking sight of the ruins of a large airplane in the Rockies got everyones attention. A secret from an old man (who later disappears) leads them to a hidden cavern. The cavern was found to be guarded by unidentifiable paramilitary people who didnt recognize the FBI as an authority. Much mystery surrounded the cavern, and the FBI agents Ben Harper and Wilson Trapper intended to find out if it was real or if it was all a plot of terrorists. Meanwhile, war seemed to be coming about in the Middle East between Iran and Israel, which both now appeared to have nuclear weapons, and the world was tense about being drawn into something that may lead to the end of mankind. Most countries were on full alert when the very bold vice president, acting as president, sent nuclear-armed warplanes to the area, hoping to defuse the situation. But he had his own personal problems, and the people wanted the elected president found. A suspicious waitress in Denver had secrets about the vice president and solicited one of his aides in her schemes, which would lead to turmoil. Then an assassination attempt happened when the vice president had his hands full of problems already. It appeared that his suspicious aide committed suicide, but something looked suspicious. Ben Harpers sexy dream about the waitress led him to cold sweats. Was he right about her? He wanted to find a new wife after a life-jolting divorce but not with this woman. He must keep on searching. Ben and Wilson were led through one deception after another and then to an isolated location where they suspected the president could be held, if he was still alive. They were at wits end when they suspected that a coup to take over control from the president may be happening. Then they found out that something important was missing, which made them even more suspicious. They must find out the truth. But their search created even more mystery, and everything led them further astray. The surprise ending brought all the unusual, unanswered happenings to an end.

Book Air National Guard at 60

Download or read book Air National Guard at 60 written by Susan Rosenfeld and published by Department of the Air Force. This book was released on 2007 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Air National Guard's role within the Air Force has matured and changed enormously since its establishment as a separate reserve component September 18, 1947. Air National Guard members have served around the world and their military experience and civilian skills have proven invaluable as our nation prosecuted conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. They also served during several major contingencies including the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Berlin Crisis if 1961 and 1962. In addition, Air Guard members made major contributions in a host of other operations in Panama, the Balkans, Somalia, Rwanda, Haiti, and the Iraq no-fly zones instituted after Operation Desert Strom. In the United States, the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts brought into sharp focus the Air Guard's well-established role as America's hometown Air Force. The Air National Guard flew over 3,000 sorties, moved over 30,000 passengers, and hauled over 11,000 tons of desperately needed supplies into Gulf Coast airfields, some of which Guard personnel opened and operated. Air National Guard members rescued 1,443 people--heroically saving people stranded by the flood. At eight sites along the Gulf Coast, Air National Guard medical units treated more than 15,000 patients, combining expert medical care with compassion.

Book Defending Air Bases in an Age of Insurgency

Download or read book Defending Air Bases in an Age of Insurgency written by Shannon Caudill and published by Military Bookshop. This book was released on 2014-08 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This anthology discusses the converging operational issues of air base defense and counterinsurgency. It explores the diverse challenges associated with defending air assets and joint personnel in a counterinsurgency environment. The authors are primarily Air Force officers from security forces, intelligence, and the office of special investigations, but works are included from a US Air Force pilot and a Canadian air force officer. The authors examine lessons from Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and other conflicts as they relate to securing air bases and sustaining air operations in a high-threat counterinsurgency environment. The essays review the capabilities, doctrine, tactics, and training needed in base defense operations and recommend ways in which to build a strong, synchronized ground defense partnership with joint and combined forces. The authors offer recommendations on the development of combat leaders with the depth of knowledge, tactical and operational skill sets, and counterinsurgency mind set necessary to be effective in the modern asymmetric battlefield.

Book Strategic Analysis of Air National Guard Combat Support and Reachback Functions

Download or read book Strategic Analysis of Air National Guard Combat Support and Reachback Functions written by Robert S. Tripp and published by Rand Corporation. This book was released on 2006 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: VANGUARD is the Air National Guard (ANG) long-range transformation program. It calls for the ANG to evaluate new concepts, prepare for new missions, and adopt a new culture that capitalizes on ANG strengths and ensures that the ANG continues to add value as warfighters and to warfighters in the future while remaining ready, reliable and accessible. One way to support warfighting and warfighters is to continue to support the Air and Space Expeditionary Force (AEF), a concept developed by the Air Force to allow quick response, when appropriate, to national security interests with a tailored, sustainable force. The ANG already plays an important role in the AEF during wartime operations. This monograph evaluates options for Air National Guard combat support and reachback missions in four Air Force mission areas to support the AEF, investigates transformational opportunities for the ANG that would add the most value in achieving the desired operational effects, and considers how changes in unit and above-unit policies are likely to affect Total Force capabilities. It should be of interest to logisticians, operators, and mobility planners throughout the Department of Defense, especially those in the Air National Guard and active Air Force.

Book Air Force One

Download or read book Air Force One written by Von Hardesty and published by Creative Publishing International. This book was released on 2005-09 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New in Paperback! In the 1940s, FDR was the first airborne president, flying several times in a C-54 nicknamed the "Sacred Cow." In the 1950s, it was aircraft known as "Independence", "Columbine II" and "Columbine III" that transported Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower on occasion. But it was not until after the Korean War, with the United States becoming the leader of the free world, that presidential air travel entered the modern age. The jet-age mobility of the American presidency beginning in the 1960s corresponds directly to the nation's emergence as a super power. Air Force One: The Aircraft that Shaped the Modern Presidency is the story of the planes, the Presidents, their staff and, their many trips across the nation and around the globe. But it's also more than that, it is a vehicle for better understanding the activities and dealings of each presidential administration in the second half of the twentieth century. Through vibrant photography, this book communicates the story of a unique set of planes and the presidents who made them a vital national asset. Now all of these planes and their famous passengers have been captured. Written by Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum curator Von Hardesty and featuring over 200 illustrations, including new photos of the airplane's interiors, this book takes you on a memorable flight through history. Through insider accounts and from a unique vantage point on well-known political events, Hardesty shows how the presidency was transformed by the remarkable advances in aviation technology.
