Book Group Theory And Special Symmetries In Nuclear Physics Proceedings Of The International Symposium

Download or read book Group Theory And Special Symmetries In Nuclear Physics Proceedings Of The International Symposium written by Joachim W Janecke and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992-06-16 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organized in honor of K T Hecht, Professor of Physics at the University of Michigan, for his frontier research in group theory and nuclear physics, this symposium features papers by principal researchers who have contributed to the development and use of algebraic methods in nuclear physics. The symposium aims to make a critical assessment of what has been accomplished since the seminal work of J P Elliott on the SU(3) model, and to identify significant challenges and opportunities that lie in the future. Topics include the SU(3) model and its noncompact Sp(3, R) extension, boson and fermion dynamical symmetry schemes, pseudo-spin and superdeformation, cluster model configurations and calculations, recent advances in vector coherent state theories, quark models for subnucleon degrees of freedom in nuclei, and more.

Download or read book GROUP 24 written by J.P Gazeau and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-11-30 with total page 1004 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most enduring elements in theoretical physics has been group theory. GROUP 24: Physical and Mathematical Aspects of Symmetries provides an important selection of informative articles describing recent advances in the field. The applications of group theory presented in this book deal not only with the traditional fields of physics, but also include such disciplines as chemistry and biology. Awarded the Wigner Medal and the Weyl Prize, respectively, H.J. Lipkin and E. Frenkel begin the volume with their contributions. Plenary session contributions are represented by 18 longer articles, followed by nearly 200 shorter articles. The book also presents coherent states, wavelets, and applications and quantum group theory and integrable systems in two separate sections. As a record of an international meeting devoted to the physical and mathematical aspects of group theory, GROUP 24: Physical and Mathematical Aspects of Symmetries constitutes an essential reference for all researchers interested in various current developments related to the important concept of symmetry.

This book was released on 2013-07-26 with total page 665 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume focuses on developments in the field of group theory in its broadest sense and is of interest to theoretical and experimental physicists, mathematicians, and scientists in related disciplines who are interested in the latest methods and applications. In an increasingly ultra-specialized world, this volume will demonstrate the interchange of ideas and methods in theoretical and mathematical physics.

Book Group Theory in Particle Nuclear and Hadron Physics

Download or read book Group Theory in Particle Nuclear and Hadron Physics written by Syed Afsar Abbas and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-08-19 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This user-friendly book on group theory introduces topics in as simple a manner as possible and then gradually develops those topics into more advanced ones, eventually building up to the current state-of-the-art. By using simple examples from physics and mathematics, the advanced topics become logical extensions of ideas already introduced. In addition to being used as a textbook, this book would also be useful as a reference guide for graduates and researchers in particle, nuclear and hadron physics.

Book Group Symmetries in Nuclear Structure

Download or read book Group Symmetries in Nuclear Structure written by J. Parikh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of a graduate-level "special topics" course I gave at the University of Rochester in 1970. The purpose of the course was to discuss as far as possible all known symmetries in nuclei, with special emphasis on dynamical symmetries. Since there was no comprehensive account of this subject in the literature, I was encouraged to write a review based on my lecture notes. The end result is the present volume. Like the course, the book is intended mainly for graduate students and research workers in nuclear physics. The only prior knowledge required to follow the book is graduate-level quantum mechanics and nuclear physics and hence I believe that it can be useful to both experimental and theoretical nuclear physicists. In addition, the book should prepare a student to read the latest literature on the subject and also train him to do group theoretic work in nuclear physics. The organization of the material in the book is described in Chapter 1.

Book Group Theory in Subnuclear Physics

Download or read book Group Theory in Subnuclear Physics written by Fl Stancu and published by Oxford University Press on Demand. This book was released on 1996 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a useful and accessible introduction to symmetry principles in particle physics. Concepts of group theory are clearly explained and their applications to subnuclear physics brought up to date. The book begins with introductions to both the types of symmetries known in physics and to group theory and representation theory. Successive chapters deal with the symmetric groups and their Young diagrams, braid groups, Lie groups and algebras, Cartan's classification of semi-simple groups, and the Lie groups most used in physics are treated in detail. Gauge groups are discussed, and applications to elementary particle physics and multiquark systems introduced throughout the book where appropriate. Many worked examples are also included. There is a growing interest in the quark structure of hadrons and in theories of particle interactions based on the principle of gauge symmetries. Students and researchers on theoretical physics will make great strides in their work with the ideas and applications found here.
