Will they forgive him, and will he be able to reestablish those relationships? Will Russell find happiness, love, and family again? About the Author Christine Roy currently lives in Wisconsin with her fiancé and writing partner, Andrew Tessari. A Gift from an Angel was inspired by an idea from Drew, who collaborated with Roy on parts of the story. Christine is the mother of four grown boys and has four grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family, along with her loving and loyal golden retriever. She worked as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse for seventeen years before leaving the field in order to start writing full-time. In her free time, she enjoys doing crafts of every kind. One of Roy’s sons was born with Spina Bifida and was paralyzed from the waist down. This led to the family’s involvement in adaptive wheelchair sports. Over the years, Christine developed a passion for helping other kids have the life-changing experience that wheelchair sports can bring to their lives. For this reason, she created the Trey Roy Foundation, which raises money to help purchase adaptive sports equipment for kids and families that may not be able to afford it and to also send these kids to sports camps in the summer. A portion of all of the proceeds from her book sales will go to her foundation. For more information about the foundation please visit www.tessarigroup.com and click on Trey Roy Foundation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This inspiring picture book retells the story of Nobel Peace Prize nominee Greta Thunberg—the Swedish teenager who has led a global movement to raise awareness about the world’s climate crisis—using allegory to make this important topic accessible to young children. Greta is a little girl who lives in a beautiful forest threatened by Giants. When the Giants first came to the forest, they chopped down trees to make houses. Then they chopped down more trees and made even bigger homes. The houses grew into towns and the towns grew into cities, until now there is hardly any forest left. Greta knows she has to help the animals who live in the forest, but how? Luckily, Greta has an idea… A section at the back explains that, in reality, the fight against the “giants” isn’t over and explains how you can help Greta in her fight. Download or read book The Gift and its Paradoxes written by Olli Pyyhtinen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-03 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing social theory and philosophy to bear on popular movies, novels, myths, and fairy tales, The Gift and its Paradoxes explores the ambiguity of the gift: it is at once both a relation and a thing, alienable and inalienable, present and poison. Challenging the nature of giving as reciprocal, the book engages critically with the work of Mauss and develops a new theory of the gift according to which the gift cannot be reduced to a model of exchange, but must instead entail a loss or sacrifice. Ultimately, the gift is examined in the book as the impossible occurrence of gratuitous giving. In addition to exploring the conditions of possibility and impossibility of the gift, the book draws on the thought of figures such as Derrida, Serres, Simmel, Cixous, Irigaray and Heidegger to argue for the relevance of the phenomenon of the gift to broader issues in contemporary social sciences. It takes up questions concerning the constitution of community and the processes by which people are included in or excluded from it, gender relations, materiality, the economy, and the possibility that death itself could be a gift, in the form of euthanasia or self-sacrifice. A rigorous yet accessible examination of the phenomenon of the gift in relation to a range of contemporary concerns, The Gift and its Paradoxes will appeal to scholars and students within sociology, philosophy, anthropology, political theory and film and literature studies.
