Book Green Functors and G sets

Download or read book Green Functors and G sets written by serge Bouc and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a definition of Green functors for a finite group G, and of modules over it, in terms of the category of finite G-sets. Some classical constructions, such as the associated categroy or algebra, have a natural interpretation in that framework. Many notions of ring theory can be extended to Green functors (opposite Green functor, bimodules, Morita theory, simple modules, centres,...). There are moreover connections between Green functors for different groups, given by functors associated to bisets. Intended for researchers and students in representation theory of finite groups it requires only basic algebra and category theory, though knowledge of the classical examples of Mackey functors is probably preferable.

Book Non Additive Exact Functors and Tensor Induction for Mackey Functors

Download or read book Non Additive Exact Functors and Tensor Induction for Mackey Functors written by Serge Bouc and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2000 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First the author introduces a generalization of the notion of (right)-exact functor between abelian categories to the case of non-additive functors. The main result of this section is an extension theorem: any functor defined on a suitable subcategory can be extended uniquely to a right exact functor defined on the whole category. Next those results are used to define various functors of generalized tensor induction, associated to finite bisets, between categories attached to finite groups. This includes a definition of tensor induction for Mackey functors, for cohomological Mackey functors, for p-permutation modules and algebras. This also gives a single formalism of bisets for restriction, inflation, and ordinary tensor induction for modules.

Book Equivariant Homotopy and Cohomology Theory

Download or read book Equivariant Homotopy and Cohomology Theory written by J. Peter May and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume introduces equivariant homotopy, homology, and cohomology theory, along with various related topics in modern algebraic topology. It explains the main ideas behind some of the most striking recent advances in the subject. The works begins with a development of the equivariant algebraic topology of spaces culminating in a discussion of the Sullivan conjecture that emphasizes its relationship with classical Smith theory. The book then introduces equivariant stable homotopy theory, the equivariant stable homotopy category, and the most important examples of equivariant cohomology theories. The basic machinery that is needed to make serious use of equivariant stable homotopy theory is presented next, along with discussions of the Segal conjecture and generalized Tate cohomology. Finally, the book gives an introduction to "brave new algebra", the study of point-set level algebraic structures on spectra and its equivariant applications. Emphasis is placed on equivariant complex cobordism, and related results on that topic are presented in detail.

Book Representation Theory and Higher Algebraic K Theory

Download or read book Representation Theory and Higher Algebraic K Theory written by Aderemi Kuku and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-04-19 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Representation Theory and Higher Algebraic K-Theory is the first book to present higher algebraic K-theory of orders and group rings as well as characterize higher algebraic K-theory as Mackey functors that lead to equivariant higher algebraic K-theory and their relative generalizations. Thus, this book makes computations of higher K-theory of grou

Book Biset Functors for Finite Groups

Download or read book Biset Functors for Finite Groups written by serge Bouc and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-03-10 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume exposes the theory of biset functors for finite groups, which yields a unified framework for operations of induction, restriction, inflation, deflation and transport by isomorphism. The first part recalls the basics on biset categories and biset functors. The second part is concerned with the Burnside functor and the functor of complex characters, together with semisimplicity issues and an overview of Green biset functors. The last part is devoted to biset functors defined over p-groups for a fixed prime number p. This includes the structure of the functor of rational representations and rational p-biset functors. The last two chapters expose three applications of biset functors to long-standing open problems, in particular the structure of the Dade group of an arbitrary finite p-group.This book is intended both to students and researchers, as it gives a didactic exposition of the basics and a rewriting of advanced results in the area, with some new ideas and proofs.

Book Differentiability of Six Operators on Nonsmooth Functions and P Variation

Download or read book Differentiability of Six Operators on Nonsmooth Functions and P Variation written by R. M. Dudley and published by Springer Science & Business. This book was released on 1999-06-21 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is about differentiability of six operators on functions or pairs of functions: composition (f of g), integration (of f dg), multiplication and convolution of two functions, both varying, and the product integral and inverse operators for one function. The operators are differentiable with respect to p-variation norms with optimal remainder bounds. Thus the functions as arguments of the operators can be nonsmooth, possibly discontinuous, but four of the six operators turn out to be analytic (holomorphic) for some p-variation norms. The reader will need to know basic real analysis, including Riemann and Lebesgue integration. The book is intended for analysts, statisticians and probabilists. Analysts and statisticians have each studied the differentiability of some of the operators from different viewpoints, and this volume seeks to unify and expand their results.
