Download or read book The Complete Guide to the Great Dane written by Mal Lee and published by LP Media Inc. This book was released on 2020-03-26 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once you have been lucky enough to welcome a Dane into your family, there is no going back. These gentle giants need lots of affection and socialization. They are perfect family pets, and are fiercely protective of the young. Great with kids of all ages, they are patient, loving, and make great playmates. Whether you are selecting a new Great Dane puppy from a breeder or adopting a Great Dane from a rescue, The Complete Guide to Great Danes will help you successfully find, raise, and train your new puppy. Chapter topics include: Finding your Great Dane Preparing for your New Arrival Welcoming your Great Dane Home Successful Great Dane Parenting Nutrition and Diet Grooming and Care An Introduction to Training Raising Multiple Pets Socializing with Dogs and Humans outside the Family Traveling with a Giant Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Advanced Great Dane Training Dealing with Unacceptable Behavior Advanced Health and Senior Dane Care A Great Dane is as happy in a condo as it is in a castle; all it needs is love and attention. Remember, though, this breed’s huge size means it takes up a lot of physical space - on your bed, on your sofa, on your lap, and especially in your heart – which is where he or she will always want to be! What's more, raise a Great Dane alongside other animals, and you will have no problem. They crave company regardless of whether their ‘brother’ or ‘sister’ is a Pug or a Pointer. Like all big dogs, though, they need to be trained as puppies and learn how not to throw their considerable weight around! Great Danes love to range, meaning they need space to move around freely rather than intense exercise. So if you are welcoming a Dane into a small-size home, be ready to go out on regular walks. If you are thinking about making a Great Dane a part of your family or are already a Dane owner, then be aware, a Great Dane is a huge commitment. From choosing your Great Dane to managing his or her final journey across the Rainbow Bridge, read on and discover everything you need to know about these big-hearted hounds.

Book See It Feelingly

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ralph James Savarese
  • Publisher : Duke University Press
  • Release : 2018-10-26
  • ISBN : 1478002735
  • Pages : 194 pages

Download or read book See It Feelingly written by Ralph James Savarese and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2018-10-26 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “We each have Skype accounts and use them to discuss [Moby-Dick] face to face. Once a week, we spread the worded whale out in front of us; we dissect its head, eyes, and bones, careful not to hurt or kill it. The Professor and I are not whale hunters. We are not letting the whale die. We are shaping it, letting it swim through the Web with a new and polished look.”—Tito Mukhopadhyay Since the 1940s researchers have been repeating claims about autistic people's limited ability to understand language, to partake in imaginative play, and to generate the complex theory of mind necessary to appreciate literature. In See It Feelingly Ralph James Savarese, an English professor whose son is one of the first nonspeaking autistics to graduate from college, challenges this view. Discussing fictional works over a period of years with readers from across the autism spectrum, Savarese was stunned by the readers' ability to expand his understanding of texts he knew intimately. Their startling insights emerged not only from the way their different bodies and brains lined up with a story but also from their experiences of stigma and exclusion. For Mukhopadhyay Moby-Dick is an allegory of revenge against autism, the frantic quest for a cure. The white whale represents the autist's baffling, because wordless, immersion in the sensory. Computer programmer and cyberpunk author Dora Raymaker skewers the empathetic failings of the bounty hunters in Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Autistics, some studies suggest, offer instruction in embracing the nonhuman. Encountering a short story about a lonely marine biologist in Antarctica, Temple Grandin remembers her past with an uncharacteristic emotional intensity, and she reminds the reader of the myriad ways in which people can relate to fiction. Why must there be a norm? Mixing memoir with current research in autism and cognitive literary studies, Savarese celebrates how literature springs to life through the contrasting responses of unique individuals, while helping people both on and off the spectrum to engage more richly with the world.

Book Bent Larsen s Best Games

Download or read book Bent Larsen s Best Games written by Bent Larsen and published by New In Chess. This book was released on 2015-01-10 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bent Larsen (1935-2010) was one of the greatest fighters chess has ever seen. In his rich career the great Dane defeated all World Champions from Botvinnik to Karpov. He was a Candidate for the World Championship four times and became one of the most successful tournament players of his time. His uncompromising style and his unorthodox thinking made him popular with chess players all around the globe. In 1967/1968 Larsen won five international elite events in a row, a truly spectacular achievement. His successes were such that Bobby Fischer let him play first board in the legendary match Soviet Union vs. the World in 1970 in Belgrade. Bent Larsen also was a highly original chess writer and an extremely productive chess journalist. Not surprisingly the first chess book that Magnus Carlsen ever studied was written by the strongest Scandinavian player before him. This collection brings together more than 120 of Bent Larsen’s best games, annotated by himself. His comments are lucid, to the point, instructive and humorous. Together, these games are a tribute to his genius and a continuous joy to read and play through. ,

Book MEMORIES OF WORLD WAR II VETS

Download or read book MEMORIES OF WORLD WAR II VETS written by A. J. BROWN and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-10-11 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of the vets I interviewed asked me why I was interested in World War II. I never forgot when Pearl Harbor was attacked. I was five years old and standing at the end of the kitchen counter next to the black art deco style radio. The announcer was very loud and excited but I didn’t know what he was talking about. My mother was at the other end of the counter standing in front of the kitchen sink washing a dish. All of a sudden she turned off the water and came over to stand in front of the radio. I had never seen a look on her face like that before. She called my dad to come here. Both of them stood in front of the radio with these shocked and unbelieving faces! I never forgot that experience. We next went to Sunday school and church and I remember all of the adults were talking to each other in low tones with stunned looks on their faces.
