Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I did everything society said to be happy. I got the degrees: BA, a Montessori degree, and an MA. I married the “right” men who could “give me respect and boost my confidence.” First an attorney. Had one daughter. The marriage ended after seven years because of his affairs. Eight years later, my second husband was a cardiologist from Virginia. We had a bi-coastal, whirlwind coke-induced love affair for eighteen months. The marriage lasted six months. I did things I thought might help society. I sent women to London for abortions before Roe v. Wade. I was active in the peace movement to stop the Vietnam War. I started NORML (the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) with my first husband. I had the right jobs: I wrote and produced for PBS. I won numerous awards. I wrote screenplays to shine the light on inequities. None of this alleviated my pain, shame, and suffering from the childhood beatings and sexual abuse that led to my self-abuse. My healing journey began with Shhhh!

Book The Way I Saw It and the Way I Wanted It to Be

Download or read book The Way I Saw It and the Way I Wanted It to Be written by Ralph Foley and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-06-03 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first part of the title is how I perceived things in my journey called life. It's the events as I saw them from my eyes and how they impacted me. The second part of the title is what I would have preferred things to have been. Life's experiences are not always what I wanted them to be. It's those experiences that challenged me and made me change some things in my life. I wrote this book to my heirs so that they may learn from my mistakes and give them the lessons that I have learned by the things that I did. It is my hope that they will understand that it's the lessons that I got from each of the chapters that I've written about. If you are like me-with grandchildren and maybe you even have great-grandchildren-you may see the benefit in sharing your life's experience the same way. Your heirs need to hear from you in whatever way you choose to communicate with them. As for me, I wrote it to my heirs as the way I saw it and the way I wanted it to be.

  • Pages : 429 pages

Download or read book My Mountain written by Cami Marie Taylor and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-12-27 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spiritually, mountaintops can represent grandeur, majesty, protection, and a safe place from all storms. But what describes the climb up the mountains? Difficulties, adversities, setbacks, injustices, betrayals, deceit, conspiracies just to name a few. There are hidden complexities for the mountain climber: hidden vice-covered ravines, slippery slopes, crags and crevices, venomous snakes, unstable weather, little to no vegetation to feed upon. Sometimes sprained ankles, broken bones, and being just too tired to go on! Compare that to what can happen when mustard-seed faith collides with adversity time and time again. Thats the story of the journey of Cami Marie Taylor whose blind faith eventually led her to the very footstool of God at the top of her own, personal mountain. You will be wasting your time reading this book if youve never had to face a way out of impossible situations with seemingly no answers. But then again, you just might be interested in how Cami was led and strengthened to climb her mountains of adversity! Inspirational reading intermixed with practical Christianity best describes Cami Marie Taylors journey during the 1970s--1980s while it also records the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit who accompanied her on her unchartered mountain-climbing expedition!
