Truth or Dare Gwyn has her hands full these days trying to help save the family business--a quirky hotel on the Jersey Shore. She has no time for romance. But when the two men with whom she once spent a drunken ménage weekend show up with a sexy proposition, how can she resist? Berke and Cam might have broken her heart seven years ago, but Gwyn is older now and wiser. She’s not looking for forever. She just wants a good time. And, after all, it is Valentine’s Day. For Berke and Cam, the weekend isn’t just about fun, or adding some spice to their marriage; it’s about winning back the woman who got away, and convincing her to give a committed three-way relationship a shot. They each have skills that could help make the hotel a success—and they’re not above bartering to get what they want. but first they have to get past the walls Gwyn’s built to keep them out. But while Cam’s biggest concern is making sure Gwyn doesn’t break Berke’s heart a second time, Berke is worried about what Cam will think if he learns about Berke’s part in screwing things up the last time around. Never Have I Ever Kristy loves Luke but if anything was clear to her back when they were kids, it was that gawky, awkward, tomboys didn’t stand a chance with the king of the schoolyard. She watched her older brothers set their caps for Luke’s glamorous cousins, and get shot down. So she did what she had to in order to salvage her friendship with Luke. She hid her true feelings and her need for him to take control. Luke wants Kristy in the worst way--actually, in all the worst ways: tied up, held down, bitten, whipped. But he knows he has no chance of ever having her. They’d been childhood friends and sweethearts, until she friend-zoned him in the fifth grade. He knows he can either keep her as a friend, or take her to bed and lose her forever. His biggest mistake--so far--was in hiring her to work alongside him in the bar he and his cousins inherited from their grandmother. He knows Kristy needs the money and the job, but Luke’s self-control can’t take the constant contact with the girl he wants to dominate--both in and out of the bedroom. Something has to give--and soon! Two Truths and a Lie All work and no play has been the story of Brenda Donovan’s life for the past few months. Concerned about the future of her family’s inn, she’s been searching for a buyer for the business--without her cousins finding out what she’s up to. She has no time for relationships. But pretending to date sexy Max Murphy, the hotel scout who’s there to assess the property? That’s totally doable. Especially when games, role-playing, and light bondage are part of the package. Falling in love was never supposed to be part of the package, however, and now her heart’s in play. Max has no problem with hiding his true identity from Brenda’s cousins. But are they the only ones he’s deceiving? When all is finally revealed will the cousins lose the Wild Geese Inn? Or will they add another member to their growing family? Note: All of the stories in this set were previously released as single titles.

Book Performativity in Art Literature and Videogames

Download or read book Performativity in Art Literature and Videogames written by Darshana Jayemanne and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-12 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book modifies the concept of performativity with media theory in order to build a rigorous method for analyzing videogame performances. Beginning with an interdisciplinary exploration of performative motifs in Western art and literary history, the book shows the importance of framing devices in orienting audiences’ experience of art. The frame, as a site of paradox, links the book’s discussion of theory with close readings of texts, which include artworks, books and videogames. The resulting method is interdisciplinary in scope and will be of use to researchers interested in the performative aspects of gaming, art, digital storytelling and nonlinear narrative.

  • ISBN : 1630873845
  • Pages : 360 pages

Download or read book The Games People Play written by Robert Ellis and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-04-21 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Games People Play, Robert Ellis constructs a theology around the global cultural phenomenon of modern sport, paying particular attention to its British and American manifestations. Using historical narrative and social analysis to enter the debate on sport as religion, Ellis shows that modern sport may be said to have taken on some of the functions previously vested in organized religion. Through biblical and theological reflection, he presents a practical theology of sport's appeal and value, with special attention to the theological concept of transcendence. Throughout, he draws on original empirical work with sports participants and spectators. The Games People Play addresses issues often considered problematic in theological discussions of sport such as gender, race, consumerism, and the role of the modern media, as well as problems associated with excessive competition and performance-enhancing substances. As Ellis explains, "Sporting journalists often use religious language in covering sports events. Salvation features in many a headline, and talk of moments of redemption is not uncommon. Perhaps, somewhere beyond the cliched hyperbole, there is some theological truth in all this after all."

Book Science Culture and the Reconciliation of Knowledge and Understanding

Download or read book Science Culture and the Reconciliation of Knowledge and Understanding written by Arthur Pontynen and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2024-07-05 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In daily life we consciously attempt to reconcile what with why, factual knowledge with understanding. Currently, it is commonplace to presume that understanding is limited to the production of facts, which we place into narratives of understanding. We exist in a world of facts with no why to find, living in a culture that vacillates between identity and tolerance, authoritarianism and anarchism. Neglected is the importance of seeking good judgments in daily life, that is, of being wise. This book analyzes the millennial shift from seeking Truth to asserting subjective meanings, so that we can escape that sordid condition. It is necessary to challenge current dominant modes of thought and interpretation in order to live intelligently and peacefully. Western Civilization and the Enlightenment are historically associated with seeking to understand, with the goal of being right with an intelligible and therefore meaningful reality. That goal remains worthy of our efforts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soft Cover: Second Edition. This book was originally published in England in 1921, and is the fifth of a five volume set. The first half of the book covers how children learn and teach themselves. Then the second part of the book deals with the borderlands. These are the planes just outside the "real" hells. It would appear that the Law of Attraction is somewhat elastic, as there are many cases of spirits travelling further than their condition really would befit them. There are also some anecdotes of how they handle massacres, where not surprisingly the dead guys want to rush back and get their revenge. There is one story of how Wolfhere (a woman with several centuries of experience here) handles on her own 10,000 guys who don't want their "leader" to be a woman, and are about, so they think, to make some changes. The third part of this book comes from "Paul and Albert" previously published separately. It is their detailed first-hand account of the hells.

Book excerpt: Beyond an occasional sports-inspired sermon illustration, sports are generally regarded as having little relevance to the Christian faith. More often, they are viewed as a welcome and safe reprieve from politics and religion. Quietly, however, as they avoid the discerning eye of the church, sports are slowly overtaking families and overwhelming parents. Under the labels "elite," "select," and "travel," a new experience of sports has taken root in American culture demanding financial burdens, time commitments, and heightened pressures never before seen. Community leaders from various public sectors have criticized many recent trends in youth sports, but, alas, where has the church been? This new "elite" expression of youth sports is quickly building an intimidating front against the church. As church attendance declines, "elite" youth sports participation is on the rise. This book ventures into the challenging, controversial, and powerful world of youth sports. Young people participate in sports more than just about any other activity, and the church has neglected its role in providing a voice of discernment for what participating in sports should look like. Christians are desperately in need of a manifesto for helping them wrestle with the complex, exciting, and often exhausting world of youth sports.

Eventually, she met and fell in love with a handsome young man, the love of her lifeor so she thought. She was relieved, with more confidence; life was good, and it seems like there was a bright light at the end of the tunnel. For a moment, everything was going well, until dilemma stroke. The secrets she had to keep almost took her life because she could not share it.
