Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Memoirs of A Standard Bearer' details much of my life's journey and training for spiritual battle that the Lord has been leading me through. It has been a long and arduous journey into moving from salvation to disciple to standard bearer. All though all three phases are intermingled, it took many years to elevate to the level of standard bearer. That is a whole other level of faith that took much discipline and trust to reach. I arrived and lived to tell about it! This is about the truly miraculous transformation of my life from destruction and woundedness to wonderful and deeply grounded in faith in Jesus. Here are the most poignant highlights of that journey, as well as many antidotes that I learned from and was inspired by as I learned to graduate into the much cherished position of standard bearer. It is truly an honor to be called to such heights of faith! My greatest hope for this book is that it will open the hearts and spiritual eyes of many others to dig deeper into their faith and walk with Jesus and to tap into how intentional the Lord is with His beloved people. I also hope and pray that this book inspires others to evaluate their relationship in Jesus or to begin a relationship with the One True God and Savoir of the world. If He can work this kind of miraculous transformation in me, than believe that He can do it for anyone. We must simply be open to His call.

Book Job

    Job

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ronald Hanko
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2021-06-22
  • ISBN : 9781944555825
  • Pages : 162 pages

Download or read book Job written by Ronald Hanko and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-22 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Job is God's commentary on the suffering and trials of his people. God speaks to our trials from the viewpoint, first, of his own interactions with Satan, then from the viewpoint of Job's interactions with his friends and finally as the one who appears to Job and his friends in a tornado. The book describes suffering on a scale seldom seen but shows our weaknesses and the temptations we face when under the hand of God or when called to bring comfort to others who are suffering. For that reason it is instructive and corrective but is also of great comfort, for it points those who are suffering to God's sovereignty in trials and to his faithfulness and saving grace to his own. Those who have read the book of Job often find the book repetitious and difficult to follow, especially the interaction of Job and his friends. This work is not meant to be an exhaustive, verse-by-verse explanation of the book of Job but is an attempt to show how the book fits together and leads up to its grand climax in the appearance of God. It also attempts to show that Job has often been misunderstood and maligned, and though guilty of sin, as we all are in suffering, is nevertheless one whose faith and hope in God are sure. May it be of help to all who love God as Job did, especially when the God they love chastises and corrects them as he does all of his children.

Download or read book Corrupting the Word of God written by Herman Hanko and published by . This book was released on 2016-12-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does the eternal, unchangeable, all-powerful, and sovereign God really have a temporal, changeable and weak desire to save those whom he has unconditionally reprobated (Rom. 9:22), for whom the Son did not die (John 12:31) and whom the Holy Spirit will not regenerate, sanctify or glorify (John 3:8)?Pelagianism, semi-Pelagianism, Roman Catholicism, Lutheranism, Anabaptism, Arminianism, Amyraldism, and Marrowism say yes to the well-meant offer of the gospel. The biblical, Augustinian, Reformed, and creedal position is no!Emeritus professor of church history, Herman Hanko, guides us through fascinating doctrinal controversies in the early, Reformation and modern eras of the church, taking us to North Africa, Switzerland, France, England, Scotland, the Netherlands, and America, and emphasizing the teaching of the great theologians, such as Augustine and John Calvin, on God's particular grace, which is always irresistible and never fails or is frustrated. In dealing with the historical perspective of God's absolutely sovereign grace versus the well-meant offer, this book fills a gap in the literature, and does so in a way that is warm and easily understood.

Book Roman Standards Standard Bearers 1

Download or read book Roman Standards Standard Bearers 1 written by Raffaele D’Amato and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-01-25 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roman unit standards played a important role, both ceremonially and on the battlefield. With the armies of the late Roman Republic and early Empire continually engaged on the frontiers, the soldiers selected for the dangerous honour of carrying them were figures of particular renown and splendour. Standard-bearers wore special armour, with the heads and pelts of animals such as bears, wolves, or even lions draped over their helmets and shoulders. The standards themselves varied greatly, from the legion's Eagle and imperial portrait image to various cohort signa, flags (vexilla) and even dragon 'windsocks' (dracones) copied from barbarian enemies and allies. This first volume of a two-part series by Roman army expert, Rafaele D'Amato uses detailed colour plates and the latest research to examine these vital cogs in the Roman army machine that drove its soldiers to conquer the known world.

Book excerpt: WITH 8 PAGES OF BLACK-AND-WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS How—and why—do we obsess over movie stars? How does fame both reflect and mask the person behind it? How have the image of stardom and our stars’ images altered over a century of cultural and technological change? Do we create celebrities, or do they create us? Ty Burr, film critic for The Boston Globe, answers these questions in this lively and fascinating anecdotal history of stardom, with all its blessings and curses for star and stargazer alike. From Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin to Archie Leach (a.k.a. Cary Grant) and Marion Morrison (a.k.a. John Wayne), Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts, and such no-cal stars of today as the Kardashians and the new online celebrity (i.e., you and me), Burr takes us on an insightful and entertaining journey through the modern fame game at its flashiest, most indulgent, occasionally most tragic, and ultimately, its most revealing.
