Book God s Mimic

Download or read book God s Mimic written by Carol Ferguson and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2005 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Mommy, the angels are coming for me," toddler Hazel Page cried out as she drifted between life and death, the result of a ruptured appendix. Her parents prayed fervently. "Lord, if you have a plan for Hazel's life, please spare her." "Mommy, the angels have gone away to heaven again." God did have a plan for her life and this was only the first of several encounters Hazel would have with angels throughout her life. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Hazel attended Saskatoon Bible College and trained as a midwife at Bethany Hospital in Saskatoon. While attending the Summer Institute of Linguistics sponsored by Wycliffe Bible Translators it was revealed to Hazel that she could mimic anything she heard and write it down phonetically. She was God's Mimic. Yes, she did translation work but she also pulled teeth, delivered babies, set broken legs and dug graves. Hazel's missionary career took her to Mexico with Wycliffe, then China and the Philippines with China Inland Mission/Overseas Missionary Fellowship. For many years her home was a thatched hut in a jungle village. Her goal in life was to introduce people to Christ and then put God's Word in their hands so they would know His will. This is the story of a unique woman, sold out to God.

Book excerpt: The Discord of Gods marks the epic conclusion to Jenn Lyons's Chorus of Dragons series, closing out the saga that began with The Ruin of Kings, for fans of Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss. THEIR CONFLICT COULD END THEM ALL. Relos Var's final plans to enslave the universe are on the cusp of fruition. He believes there's only one being in existence that might be able to stop him: the demon Xaltorath. As these two masterminds circle each other, neither is paying attention to the third player on the board, Kihrin. Unfortunately, keeping himself classified in the 'pawn' category means Kihrin must pretend to be everything the prophecies threatened he'd become: the destroyer of all, the sun eater, a mindless, remorseless plague upon the land. It also means finding an excuse to not destroy the people he loves (or any of the remaining Immortals) without arousing suspicion. Kihrin's goals are complicated by the fact that not all of his 'act' is one. His intentions may be sincere, but he's still being forced to grapple with the aftereffects of the corrupted magic ritual that twisted both him and the dragons. Worse, he's now tied to a body that is the literal avatar of a star — a form that is becoming increasingly, catastrophically unstable. All of which means he's running out of time. After all, some stars fade — but others explode. At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

Book A Commentary on Ephesians

Download or read book A Commentary on Ephesians written by David Pawson and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2016-03-21 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike Paul’s other letters, this one is not addressed to particular churches or individuals, with their own needs and problems (even “Ephesians” is not in all the early copies). It is a circular despatch, covering general matters of belief (chapters 1–3) and behaviour (chapters 4–6), applicable to all churches and Christians everywhere. It is one of the clearest statements in the New Testament of God’s purpose in saving us and is as practically challenging as it is spiritually inspiring. Perhaps that is why it is such a popular choice for preachers.

Book Jonah An Earth Bible Commentary

Download or read book Jonah An Earth Bible Commentary written by Jione Havea and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-04-16 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jione Havea analyses the Book of Jonah through the lens of climate change, using this present situation to reconsider the significance of Jonah for contemporary struggles and contexts, and tapping into traditional practices of commentary to draw out the meaning of the biblical text. Havea takes Jonah 3:10 as a starting point, in which God repents and rethinks (decides not to destroy), taking this as a challenge and an opportunity for biblical scholars to reflect on the realities of climate change. Havea builds on this opportunity in two ways: first, by reading Jonah forward, giving special attention to the orientation of the narrative toward the sea and Nineveh, and then backward, highlighting the significance of sea and (is)land lives to the flow of the narrative. Second, by looking at the other figures in the narrative, rather than focusing on the narrator's obsession with Jonah and his God. Havea reminds readers that the fish, plant, worm and other beasts are also crucial in this narrative, and considers how this can change our reading of the text.

Book Walking in the Spirit

Download or read book Walking in the Spirit written by Warren Muller and published by Andrew J. Lamont-Turner. This book was released on with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the journey of faith, there exists a profound invitation—to walk not merely by human effort but in the dynamic presence of the Holy Spirit. Walking in the Spirit unveils the transformative power and indispensable role of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer. Galatians 5:16 emphasises this vital truth: "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won't fulfil the lust of the flesh." This scripture highlights the fundamental principle that the Christian walk is not just about adhering to rules but about an intimate partnership with the Spirit of God. Drawing from Romans 8:14, the author underscores how the Spirit leads us: "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God." Here lies the heart of the believer's identity—a child of God guided by the Spirit into the abundant life Christ promised. Through compelling narratives and biblical insights, Walking in the Spirit unveils the practicality of this divine partnership. Explore how the Spirit empowers prayer (Ephesians 6:18), imparts spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-7), and instils love, joy, and peace (Galatians 5:22-23). This book beckons every believer to journey beyond surface-level Christianity into a life marked by vibrant spiritual communion. Whether you seek a deeper prayer life, desire to discern God's voice, or long for victory over persistent struggles, Walking in the Spirit offers a roadmap to a fulfilled relationship with God. Discover the joy of walking in step with the Spirit and embark on a journey of true spiritual vitality.

Book God s People Count

Download or read book God s People Count written by Carl Barrett and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-10-17 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are undoubtedly living in a society and culture that is growing stranger by the day--creating more distance between others, minute by minute. It seems that people are living in their own little bubbles and silos more than ever--with no interest in connecting with people effectively. And it is evident that the rise of the digital age is affecting people mentally and emotionally, leading to voidness and isolation and a sense of hopelessness and helplessness. Billions of people are connecting with an unproductive device in their hands when it should be the word of God! There is no spiritual value when we allow the things of this world to consume our lives more than God's divine nature. Do we really think anything will improve in our homes, communities, churches, schools, country, and globally if we're not grounded and connected in the Truths of his word? We must realize that connecting with humans physically, emotionally, and spiritually is how God designed us. Just like our Creator wants a relationship with you and me, he wants us to bond with others so they can also see the experience of his abundant blessings and goodness in our lives. We cannot afford to be on the sidelines because it's all about cultivating genuine care for God's creation and putting it into practice for the sake of ourselves and others, now more than ever.

Book A Lost God in a Lost World

Download or read book A Lost God in a Lost World written by Melvin Tinker and published by EP BOOKS. This book was released on 2015-10-12 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Foreword by David F Wells: I welcome this fine book. I appreciate the fact that Melvin Tinker has gone to the heart of the matter, to the very center of our faith. Evangelical faith is never going to be renewed by better marketing techniques, or more cultural accommodations, slicker presentations, or better business acumen. It will be renewed only when our knowledge of God is deepened, our walk with him becomes more genuine, our faith more authentic, and our churches more biblical. This is exactly what this book calls for. It sets up the doctrinal structure of Christian faith and lays out with great clarity the truth that these doctrines declare. And he shows that as pressing, and sometimes as novel as our challenges seem to be today, they are actually the recurring challenges that God's people have faced in every generation. Here, though, he deals with those challenges from within the biblical period and lays out the biblical answers. If we would but listen we might be quite surprised at the results! We would see the gospel making inroads into our Western world, the Church finding new life, and Christians living with greater confidence and more hope. May it indeed be so!
