Download or read book Life with God for Children written by Lacy Borgo and published by . This book was released on 2015-10-08 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life with God for Children is spiritual formation curriculum for children. It has been used in Sunday school, children's church, small groups, homeschooling and even adapted for Vacation Bible School. Life with God for Children is based on the people profiles in The Renovaré Life with God Bible. While the children are engaging in a life together, they are also engaging in the lives of those in the Bible who have journeyed with God. They learn the ways in which people in the Bible have connected with God, and then practice the same. These ways of connecting with God are called spiritual disciplines. Life with God for Children uses the twelve classic spiritual disciplines written about in Celebration of Discipline, by Richard J. Foster. Over the course of a year, the children will practice all twelve in kid friendly ways. Life with God for Children is moldable to the child. There are portions for nearly every kind of learner. It is available in four volumes, written for individual developmental levels. Each level requires a Bible that is developmentally appropriate. Suggestions are made within the curriculum. The entire curriculum consists of: Preschool and Kindergarten First and Second Grade Third and Fourth Grade Fifth and Sixth Grade A biblical time line, which can be downloaded at www.GoodDirtMinistries.org. A CD of original music with an accompanying songbook, Do Life with Me. Every human ever born receives a spiritual formation. The question becomes just what kind of spiritual formation will we receive. Life with God for Children is based on the premise that children are born with a hunger to be in relationship with God. Right from the womb they search the eyes around them for connection. Children have a natural openness to God, therefore Life with God for Children was written to give children a place and space to experience God. Life with God for Children is about true connection. Entertainment has become the fast and sterile substitute for the hard work of relationships. Children are hungry for relationships. They come into this world looking for connections. They call our names to woo us, they learn to make eye contact, and they cry and giggle, all for connection. Unfortunately our driving desire to be entertained has left us relationally depleted. For this reason, this curriculum has not been written to entertain. Instead it has been written to give children what they need, what they really want, and what they have been asking for if we were listening- relationship. Relationship with the adults who love them and relationship with Jesus who loved them so much he lived and died for them. That's not to say that there won't be fun, or laughter, or the exhilarating sense of celebration. A life with God is full of these emotions. Our focus is connection, both to God and to each other, because that is what we are all seeking no matter how old we are.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Children of the Father: A Manual for the Religious Instruction of Children of Primary Grade This volume is intended for the instruction of pupils eight years of age, and should follow the manual entitled Living Together, prepared by the same author for children of seven. These two books, together with a third for the age of six which is soon to appear, may be used with pupils of the Primary Department in any desired order. The editors believe, however, that the best results will be secured when each is used in the order indicated and for the age for which it is prepared. It will be noted as these manuals in The Beacon Course appear, that with the advance of the pupil in years the lessons are taken from the Bible in increasing numbers. As the children grow older the Biblical mate rial is more likely to become a permanent part of their mental and spiritual equipment. Through the use of separate stories and passages adapted to their present capacities and need, they are being prepared for that connected study of the Bible which begins a little later in the course. In the meantime they are having ethi cal principles and spiritual in uences brought to bear upon their developing lives at the most receptive period. Stories from other sources have been added to the Bible material, in order that they may be taught in early years the universality of God's providence, authority and revelation. Book Teaching the Mystery of God to Children

Download or read book Teaching the Mystery of God to Children written by Judy Gattis Smith and published by CSS Publishing. This book was released on 2005 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book of clues... clues to the awe and immensity of God that will lead children to think about, rather than "learn" about, God. Instead of teaching in the traditional sense, it provides "clues" for a shared journey toward discovering the Divine Mystery at the core of the universe. The recent trend in Christian education has been to emphasize knowledge, and to make church school more fun and entertaining. But in our zeal to pass on the basics of the faith, we have often neglected to guide children into truly experiencing the full wonder of the almighty. We have taught them about religion, but we have not always helped them to establish a deep and meaningful relationship with God. This book approaches the mission from a different perspective - one that identifies and reaffirms the spiritual experiences young people are already having. Each chapter suggest numerous ideas for use in classes, as well as a "Time to Reflect" section for adults to recall and meditate on their own spiritual life as children. Teaching The Mystery Of God To Children is an essential resource for any parent or church school teacher who is interested in the spiritual development of their children. Subjects discussed include: The Bible Art Symbols Music Sounds Movement Words Poetry Nature Sacred Space Koans and Miracles Death Judy Gattis Smith is the author of more than a dozen books, including Teaching to Wonder, Planting Spiritual Seeds, and Developing a Child's Spiritual Growth through the Senses (Abingdon). She has also written three books for grandmothers, and she is a regular contributor to Episcopal Teacher magazine. Smith has led more than 200 workshops and seminars, and has been a keynote speaker at conferences throughout the United States.

Book Big Truths for Young Hearts

Download or read book Big Truths for Young Hearts written by Bruce A. Ware and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2009-03-31 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Equips parents to guide their young children through all major doctrines in an understandable, chapter-a-day format. Sure, it's easy to teach your children the essentials of Christian theology when you're a theology professor. But what about the rest of us? With Big Truths for Young Hearts, Bruce Ware, (you guessed it!) a theology professor, encourages and enables parents of children 6-14 years of age to teach through the whole of systematic theology at a level their children can understand. Parents can teach their children the great truths of the faith and shape their worldviews early, based on these truths. The book covers ten topics of systematic theology, devoting several brief chapters to each subject, making it possible for parents to read one chapter per day with their children. With this non-intimidating format, parents will be emboldened to be their children's primary faith trainers-and perhaps learn a few things themselves along the way.

Download or read book Cold Case Christianity written by J. Warner Wallace and published by David C Cook. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.
