Book Hockey Gods

Download or read book Hockey Gods written by Nicholas J. Cotsonika and published by Triumph Books (IL). This book was released on 2002 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the tradition of John Feinstein's best-selling A Season on the Brink, Nick Cotsonika will draw back the curtain on one of the most compelling stories in the history of sports. Never before has an NHL team brought together such a dazzling number of big names. Chris Chelios. Sergei Fedorov. Dominik Hasek. Brett Hull. Igor Larionov. Nicklas Lidstrom. Luc Robitaille. Brendan Shanahan. Steve Yzerman. And, of course, legendary coach Scotty Bowman. With this unprecedented talent comes the potential of unprecedented problems: competition for playing time and limelight, the burden of expectations in a Stanley Cup-crazy place like Detroit, a city that calls itself Hockeytown. With access to the players and coaches, Cotsonika will be witness to it all, how the players deal with themselves, how they clash with the mercurial Bowman, how they handle being part of the richest payroll in the sport's history, thanks to deep-pocketed, aggressive owner Mike Ilitch. Cotsonika will provide, in sharply engaging fashion, many details of a season in the NHL usually hidden from view.

For those caught up in the busyness of work, family, and church, it often feels like time with God is just another thing on a crowded “to-do’ list. Ken explains how the time-tested spiritual practice of the “rule of life” can help bring busy people into a closer relationship with God. He shows how a personal rule of life can fit almost any vocation or life situation. In God in My Everything, you will discover how to create and practice a life-giving, sustainable rhythm in the midst of your demanding life. If you long for a deeper spirituality but often feel that the busyness of life makes a close relationship with God challenging—and, at times, seemingly impossible—this book is for you.

The book contains thousands of inspiring, life changing, worshipful and humorous thoughts. There are nearly 700 pages with almost 500 different topics categorized alphabetically. Some of the book's topics are God and the Bible, character, faith, fullness, the family and home, leadership, patriotic thoughts, prayer and victorious living. The book even contains great seasonal thoughts for thanksgiving, Christmas and the Resurrection. As a young man, the author began collecting life-changing thoughts for his own personal use. It was not long until he was using the thoughts and poems within his own writings and sermons. Over a thirty-five year period, the collection of inspiring thoughts grew from only a few to number into the thousands. As the collection grew so did the author's ability to compose and write his own thoughts and poems. Many of these are included within this book. The book is a great resource for pastors, teachers, speechmakers, communicators and leaders. You will find the life-changing thoughts beneficial for your own edification and enjoyment. In addition, the book provides you with a wealth of inspiring and motivating thoughts to share with other people. The author hopes you are blessed by reading and sharing these thoughts, as he has been from compiling and writing them. Book Skip Jordan and the Angels of Light Book 2

Download or read book Skip Jordan and the Angels of Light Book 2 written by Christopher Shennan and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Skip Jordan and his friends have faced the powers of darkness before; they have confronted the deceptions of witchcraft, and done battle with demonic entities. They have seen The Veil of Deception, and prevailed against seemingly impossible odds, but what they are called to face now is more ominous than anything they have known before. Skip Jordan is dreaming again. Their former friend Roger Wilson, missing for almost a year, appears in the dream. He also sees Ntambo, the African preacher who had saved Skip from death when he was only four years old. Against the backdrop of Victoria Falls in Africa, or, as the locals know it, The Smoke That Thunders, he sees his black friend hounded over the edge into the gorge below. Skip has no doubt the dream is a call for he and his friends to launch a rescue mission to save Roger, and others, from the clutches of witchcraft. Only two months short of his fifteenth birthday, they leave for Africa on an adventure that could very well be their last. They face attacks from demons, lying wonders, and end up in a secret place known as The Lion s Den. In this evil place no escape is possible; only death awaits them. Will their faith be sufficient to carry them through? Will their youth and inexperience cause them to fail? Or is there help on the way, both human and divine, that will lead them to final victory? This second volume in the SKIP JORDAN series, told with a blend of fantasy, drama and adventure, cannot fail to excite, challenge, and bless all who read it

Book God Isn t Mad at You

    Book Details:
  • Author : Georgina Packer
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2008-10-22
  • ISBN : 1469105764
  • Pages : 176 pages

Download or read book God Isn t Mad at You written by Georgina Packer and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-10-22 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:13: You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. This is such a simple invitation to a relationship that will only bring life and peace into ones life. However, too many times today we find people seeking after men or women instead of the One who can supply their every need. It is good to listen to good teaching from Gods Word but in the end, it is we who must decide for ourselves about our lives. Any other way will certainly lead us in a path away from God. He wants a personal relationship with each and every one of us. He wants to bless and deliver us from situations which are pulling us down. He wants to pick us up when we fall and restore us into a right relationship with Him. He is the God Who is more than able to supply all that we could ever ask for or desire. It is His purpose for us to realize the love He has for us above all else. Many of the things which come into our lives are of our own doing and have nothing to do with God. It is our poor choices or a wrong path that we have taken which leads us into situations which it seems that there is no deliverance from. But God is the God Who is bigger than any situation and He is more powerful than any bad choice that we have made. The only requirement is for us to trust Him and surrender all to Him. In 1 Peter 5:7 it reads: casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. I heard someone say once I dont know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future. We can rest in the promises of God and learn of Him and we will have success even when it seems an impossibility for a situation to turn around. So when we seek Him, we can claim the promise in Jeremiah 29:11-13: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. So lets believe in a Father whose grace will carry us through any obstacle and lets believe in a Saviour Who wants to perform miracles the same way He did when He walked this earth. He is as near as the mention of His Name, Jesus.
