Book Journey Beyond A Non Dual Approach

Download or read book Journey Beyond A Non Dual Approach written by Acharya Dr. Kuntimaddi Sadananda and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone is searching for everlasting happiness. Yet, none can find it by pursuit; at the same time, none can stop the pursuit. This seems to be the tragedy of human life—nay, the life of every being. Every pursuit is limited space-wise, time-wise and object-wise. Any pursuit that is limited cannot give everlasting happiness. Some promise eternal happiness after death if one follows their path. Yet, no one has returned to claim that they achieved it by following that path. One sage declares that ‘truth is a pathless land’. Vedanta ascertains that the truth is beyond the space-time-object-wise limitations, and you are that truth–tat tvam asi. The journey beyond space and time limitations is the central theme of the discussions in this text.

Book The Four Gods Figurines as Tomb Guardians

Download or read book The Four Gods Figurines as Tomb Guardians written by Lok Man Yang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-29 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book employs a biographical approach to comprehensively study a set of Tang era-tomb guardian figurines, known as the Four Gods (Sishen), comprising a pair of warriors (Dangkuang and Dangye) and a pair of hybrid beasts (Zuming and Dizhou). These objects were exclusively used by officials until 841 AD and were mainly found in capitals then. They disappeared in the 9th century AD. The book is divided into three sections. Part one focuses on their symbolism through names, images, burial contexts, associated ritual regulations, and the interplay of all of these, revealing their dual significance – apotropaic and political, tied to ritual propriety, nuo exorcism, yin-yang divination, and more. Part two explores their connection to other supernatural tomb figurines in the early and middle Tang periods, challenging previous theories and highlighting regional standardization. Additionally, this part delves into the Four Gods’ regulated production, government oversight, and role in funerary processions. Part three examines their disappearance due to shifting views on the afterlife and diminishing national power. It also explores changes in the usage of related tomb objects after the Tang era, focusing on protective functions and spatial concepts.

He shows that none of these arguments is powerful enough to change the minds of reasonable participants in debates on the question of the existence of God. His conclusion is supported by detailed analyses of the arguments as well as by the development of a theory about the purpose of arguments and the criteria that should be used in judging whether or not arguments are successful. Oppy discusses the work of a wide array of philosophers, including Anselm, Aquinas, Descartes, Locke, Leibniz, Kant, Hume and, more recently, Plantinga, Dembski, White, Dawkins, Bergman, Gale and Pruss.

Download or read book Decayed Gods written by Wouter W. Belier and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-09-01 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1930 Dumézil wrote an article in which he defended the Indo-European character of the Indian varnas. In 1986 he was completing his final 25 Esquisses, research proposals the aim of which was to allow his model of the 'idéologie tripartie' of Indo-European traditions to be applied to his 'disciples'. According to this model Indo-European traditions were typified by a threefold division into functions of society, the world of the gods, and the heroic traditions. These were the functions of sovereignty, power and 'fertility'. This theoretical model was elaborated by Dumézil in a large number of books and articles. Between 1930 and 1986 he broadened enormously the amount of data on which his model was based. To do so he had regularly to adapt and reformulate his model. This was not without consequences for the material which he had interpreted earlier on. In this study a detailed description is given of this process of reformulation and reinterpretation and the conclusion is that the totality of the various models does not, despite its aesthetic attraction, satisfy the criteria which should be set for scientific models.
