Book excerpt: I would hope this book would find its way into the halls of Better Covenant Theology teaching. Better Covenant Theology (BCT) is a term and a hermeneutic for understanding the Bible, from a covenant/Kingdom perspective, which incorporates into its system historical context. Historical context causes one to know the difference in what was spoken to the original audience and what is meant for us to understand and gain wisdom from. You and I were not the target or original audience for anything that was written by any of the writers of the old or New Testaments. Each author, who ultimately is the Holy Spirit, had as their target a specific group of people living in a specific time in history. There is certainly application that we gain from the Scriptures, but it is important to understand that we, ourselves, were not the target audience to the things written in the Bible. We have the advantage of living at least 2000 years after it was written, with historical records to connect many things in the Scriptures. Without the advantage of knowing history, the Bible can be a strange book indeed. This is why historical context is key to understanding the Bible. The information in this book should be used for sermons, teachings, classes and any other use that Christians may grow in Christ and understand the Bible in ways they have never understood before. I do not mind if you teach and expand on this material once you understand it. This is a piece of the New Covenant unfolding to us. Another key to understanding the Bible is to understand covenant. Covenant has many facets, from the cutting of the covenant, the blood sacrifice used, the benefits, rules or stipulations associated with the covenant, and the goals of each party involved in the covenant. God is a God of covenant, and He seeks to operate with humanity through covenant. In fact, it can be said of the Bible, that is the written record of the covenant journey of God with mankind.

Download or read book Covenant of the Torch written by Abraham Park and published by Tuttle Publishing. This book was released on 2011-07-05 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Covenant of the Torch made with Abraham is the most significant among all the covenants in the Bible. Why? It's the most detailed yet condensed summary of God's divine administration for redemption that outlines the work of restoration of His godly people and holy land. In this book, Rev. Abraham Park brings to life the Covenant of the Torch and helps us to understand--accurately, and in chronological detail--692 years of redemptive history starting from Abraham, including the great exodus, the wilderness journey and the conquest of Canaan. Just as his best-seller The Genesis Genealogies has helped readers to better understand the time frames and relationships in The Book of Genesis, Rev. Park now helps us to study the books of Exodus up to Joshua carefully and to realize what those events and participants tell us regarding God's larger plan. This book offers: A detailed chronology of 692 years from Abraham to the Israelites' conquest of Canaan. The first-ever map of all 42 campsites in the wilderness. Color photos of the locations in the wilderness journey. A theologically sound method of viewing God's Word through the perspective of God's administration in the history of redemption. Wisdom and insight on how to overcome the spiritual "wilderness" in our lives of faith today. Despite periods of spiritual darkness, unbelief, complaining and grumbling by the people of God as they wandered in the desert, we see God's faithfulness in fulfilling His Word and the Covenant of the Torch. And by understanding the chronological flow of the biblical events in a systematic manner, we gain a much broader and deeper grasp of God's plan of salvation. This title is part of The History of Redemption series which includes: Book 1: The Genesis Genealogies Book 2: The Covenant of the Torch Book 3: The Unquenchable Lamp of the Covenant Book 4: God's Profound and Mysterious Providence Book 5: The Promise of the Eternal Covenant

Book God s Covenant Plan

Download or read book God s Covenant Plan written by Jesse Wright and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why is so little reference made to covenant in the New Testament? What importance does it have to us? If we knew more about how the new covenant operates, might it change the way we relate to God? In this study, the subject of "in Him" takes on a dynamic new meaning when seen diagrammed in the new covenant, becoming the apex of Christian understanding. This subject woven into covenant creates a picture of God's undying relationship to man that cannot be broken. The new covenant of love culminated the development of God's covenants to man. It is beyond man's comprehension as to why a supreme being would venture such an undertaking as man, although it seems that this project was in God's planning all along and is the crowning act that all other creations point to. In God's plan He gives man the freedom of choice as to whether to seek Him or deny Him. Faith in His existence and dedication to Him leads to an eternal relationship. Thoughts in this book deal with creating and deepening that faith. An understanding of these and other subjects has been a historic journey in my life, so now, let your journey begin. Jesse Maurice Wright was born in 1935 in south Texas to a very Bible oriented family. His father, M.A. Wright was an evangelist for the Church of Christ in many locations in the south, west and central U.S. He has been married to Janiece for 55 years and has two children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His working career has been in building contracting which ended in the electrical field. He is an avid private pilot having built three small aircraft. His retirement years have been mainly spent exploring his interest in God's covenants which explains this, his only book. IMPORTANT

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's confused and confusing world, it is good to be shown once more that God is never absent. That is the heartening message of 'Ichabod toward Home'. In this volume one of today's most respected biblical scholars explores the nature of God's glory, using the engaging story of the ark of the covenant to illuminate the meaning of God's presence - not only for the ancient Israelites but for the whole world. Offering a unique entry into Old Testament theology, Walter Brueggemann examines 1 Samuel 4-6, the biblical text in which the ark of God is captured by the Philistines, seen to be a dangerous threat, and finally returned to Israel. In looking anew at what this story reveals about God's glory - or kabod, from which the name Ichabod derives - Brueggemann builds a powerful new theology of God's sovereignty. Additionally, Brueggemann demonstrates that this ancient story of the ark has profound relevance today. The three-day story of the ark's capture, detention, and return is transposed, first, into the three-day Christian story of Easter and, second, into the three days of the modern consumer weekend. In a provocative contemporary application of Old Testament theology, Brueggemann shows that the Ark narrative, in its rendering of God's glory, strongly contradicts the dominant narrative of our own culture, with its strident emphasis on self-indulgence, narcissism, and self-sufficiency.
