Download or read book The Whole Counsel of God written by Tim Patrick and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2020-02-27 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Expository preaching has been on the rise over the last five decades, with more and more pastors preaching through entire books of the Bible systematically. But few, if any, preachers have a long-term plan to teach through every book of the Bible over a lifetime of ministry. Since the whole Bible is God’s Word to his people, all of Scripture is important in order to grow as Christians. Written to make a case for the necessity of a long-term plan for preaching through the entire Bible instead of just through individual books, this is not just a book on how to preach, but also how to plan and prepare long-range preaching programs through the whole counsel of God.

Book The Immutability of God s Counsel

Download or read book The Immutability of God s Counsel written by Anthony Adefarakan and published by . This book was released on 2020-02-18 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hebrews 6:13-17 (NKJV) says: "For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying 'Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you'. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us."When a promise is made, one may be doubtful as to whether the fellow making the promise will fulfill it or not; but when the fellow backs up the promise with an oath - swearing by someone greater than himself, every form of doubt will disappear because the fellow is now bound to fulfill what he has promised. This was the case with God and Abraham. He gave him a promise, and since there is no one greater than Him, He decided to swear by Himself. He put His Almightiness, Holiness, Righteousness, Most Highness and Sovereignty on the line; and sure enough, He fulfilled what He promised him - He blessed him and greatly multiplied him.The text says God is determined to show to us too being the heirs of the promise He made to our father Abraham the immutability of His counsel so that we can be rest assured that what He has promised us, He will surely fulfill if only we will exhibit faith and patience as our father did - verses 15-17.The word 'immutability' according to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary means something that cannot be changed, something that will never change. That's what God is trying to get across. Since He will never tell a lie (Numbers 23:19), He is saying He will fulfill all He has promised us, without changing any of them. This is because He had sworn by Himself to do so. This book in your hand is a collection of fifty (50) of the promises He had made to all His children; as you read and meditate on them, ask Him to fulfill them in your own life and He will definitely do so

Book Scripture and Counseling

Download or read book Scripture and Counseling written by Bob Kellemen and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2014-10-07 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What role does Scripture play in counseling? Today, we face a weakening of confidence in the Bible. This is just as true for the pastor offering counsel in his office as it is for the person in the pew talking with a struggling friend. We need to regain our confidence in God's living Word as sufficient to address the real-life issues we face today. Scripture and Counseling will help you understand how the Bible equips us to grow in counseling competence as we use it to tackle the complex issues of life. Divided into two sections, Part One develops a robust biblical view of Scripture’s sufficiency for "life and godliness" leading to increased confidence in God's Word. Part Two teaches how to use Scripture in the counseling process. This section demonstrates how a firm grasp of the sufficiency of Scripture leads to increased competence in the ancient art of personally ministering God's Word to others. Part of the Biblical Counseling Coalition series, Scripture and Counseling brings you the wisdom of twenty ministry leaders who write so you can have confidence that God’s Word is sufficient, necessary, and relevant to equip God’s people to address the complex issues of life in a broken world. It blends theological wisdom with practical expertise and is accessible to pastors, church leaders, counseling practitioners, and students, equipping them to minister the truth and power of God’s word in the context of biblical counseling, soul care, spiritual direction, pastoral care, and small group facilitation.

In His Counsel Shall Stand, author Louis E. Murzone taps into the destined glory of the believer's relationship with Jesus. By comparing the relationship of Christ and the Church to that of a marital relationship, the author presents an intimate portrayal of God's love and introduces how to transform your reality into His expectation. Each stage of the relationship process-attraction, courtship, marriage, and divorce-is used to identify God's promises to the believer. He progressively walks you through the blessings and struggles encountered when following God's purpose. This book explains how a wilderness experience, that 'fertile womb of promise', is really the key by which you are able to 'lock into the channel which feeds you God's truth.' His Counsel Shall Stand will leave you 'smothered in grace' as it affirms, encourages, and challenges you to grow in God's love.

Book A Theology of Biblical Counseling

Download or read book A Theology of Biblical Counseling written by Heath Lambert and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2016-04-05 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the beginning of the biblical counseling movement in 1970, biblical counselors have argued that counseling is a ministry of the Word, just like preaching or missions. As a ministry, counseling must be defined according to sound biblical theology rather than secular principles of psychology. For over four decades, biblical theology has been at the core of the biblical counseling movement. Leaders in biblical counseling have emphasized a commitment to teaching doctrine in their counseling courses out of the conviction that good theology leads to good counseling…and bad theology leads to bad counseling. A Theology of Biblical Counseling is a landmark new book that covers the history of the biblical counseling movement, the core convictions that underlie sound counseling, and practical wisdom for counseling today. Dr. Heath Lambert shows how biblical counseling is rooted in the Scriptures while illustrating the real challenges counselors face today through true stories from the counseling room. A substantive textbook written in accessible language, it is an ideal resource for use in training biblical counselors at colleges, seminaries, and training institutes. In each chapter, doctrine comes to life in real ministry to real people, dramatically demonstrating how theology intersects with the lives of actual counselees.

Book Marriage and the Counsel of God Workbook

Download or read book Marriage and the Counsel of God Workbook written by Michael A. Eschelbach and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-08-01 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marriage and the Counsel of God is the product of over twenty-two years of biblical study and pastoral counseling. The text and accompanying workbook have proven themselves an effective means of preparing couples for marriage, of supporting those already married, and of recovering marriages that are failing. The text focuses on the biblical model for marriage found in Genesis and Ephesians while following an outline of basic Christian beliefs (e.g., the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, baptism, Holy Communion, and confession/absolution). The essential elements of these beliefs are considered for their import in the Christian life in general and regarding marriage in particular. Abundant Scripture references are provided, as well as examples from real-life situations. These and other helpful resources are also given in indices for quick reference. The book and workbook are written in clear, nontechnical, and engaging language and so are aimed for students and teachers of counseling, for counseling professionals, for pastors, and for the public in general.
