Book Too Busy with Busyness to Hear God

Download or read book Too Busy with Busyness to Hear God written by Roy D. Beaird and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In light of September 11, 2001, we have all come to realize that our world can change in the blink of an eye. In a time of tragedy we tend to turn to the Spiritual and God. It is sometimes frustrating to find that in our most desperate hour we find no solace because we do not recognize His voice. It is to our detriment that we have allowed our busyness to replace a developed relationship with God. The church of today is attempting to accommodate, entertain and retain people rather than providing real answers to real problems. I believe that this is why the church has not progressed to a greater degree toward the mark of "Gloriousness", which Jesus foretold. Why? The church of this age is so BUSY with the BUSYNESS OF DOING; we cannot hear what God is saying. We have become Human "doings" rather than Human "beings". We have lost the art of LISTENING as well as the courage to simply, DO what God is DOING and SAY what God is SAYING. Two household chores "washing" and "ironing" depict what I'm speaking of in a remarkable manner. How do you remove "spots" and "wrinkles" from clothing? Washing and ironing. But, since the art of doing laundry is a thing of the past we miss this analogy. How do you remove "wrinkles" from clothing? You iron them out. What is ironing? It is the application of heat and pressure, which smoothes out the wrinkles. As we move this into the human arena we are confronted with vehement resistance. We do not like "heat" or "pressure". We live in a push button society and a microwave world. Everything is instant! God instructed Israel during the wilderness journey to not erect permanent structures. Why? They were simply passing through to their ultimate destination. They dwelled in temporary structures and did not amass hordes of things or obligations in life. Many of us are stuck where we are today because we have allowed ourselves to become overly encumbered by possessions and obligations. We are so enslaved to this world that we can neither hear God nor follow Him completely. It is God's desire to take each believer into His laundry room and prepare us for service. He wants us to realize that just because we are busy at religious things it does not mean that we are spiritual. We need to learn the four causes of burnout and avoid them. It is imperative that we develop "Ears to Hear" in our relationship with God. As we learn the secret of relationship and God's provisions through His covenant we will find restoration to what He designed us to be. It is my desire to see each person free from the bondage of performance so they can enjoy the freedom of relationship.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have been interested in writing since the second grade, but it was only after I trusted in God and began a close walk with Him that I have written this book. God truly has spoken to my heart and allowed me to write the poetry and prose found in When God Speaks. This is a book that has been written from life experiences and deep meditation. I write about many joys and sorrows that come straight from the heart. Many of the words are the way I perceive life in and through others. People are a blessing and are meant to be encouraged and filled with love and happiness. It is with joy that I share my thoughts, poetry, and prose with family and friends and, yes, with strangers yet to become friends. I hope you find this book a joy and an encouragement to read again and again. --Frances Ann Spillers

Book He Speaks in the Silence

Download or read book He Speaks in the Silence written by Diane Comer and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2016-01-05 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He Speaks in the Silence is about Diane Comer’s search for the kind of intimacy with God every woman longs for. It is a story of trying to be a good girl, of following the rules, of longing for a satisfaction that eludes us. Disappointed with all Diane had been told was supposed to fulfill her, she begged God in desperation to give her more. And He did. But first He took her through a trial so debilitating it almost destroyed what little faith she had. He let her go deaf. Using vivid parallels between her deafness and every woman’s struggle to hear God, this book shows women not only how Diane, as a deaf woman, hears in everyday life, but also how she can learn to listen to God in the midst of her own loud life, finding intimacy with God and the deep soul satisfaction she longs for.

Download or read book The Listening Life written by Adam S. McHugh and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 2015-11-09 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christianity Today's Book of the Year Award Logos Association Bookstore Award Bookwi.se's Favorite Books of the Year Outreach Magazine Resource of the Year "Be quick to listen, slow to speak." —James 1:19 How would our lives change if we approached every experience with the intention of listening first? In this noisy, distracting world, it is difficult to truly hear. People talk past each other, eager to be heard but somehow deaf to what is being said. Listening is an essential skill for healthy relationships, both with God and with other people. But it is more than that: listening is a way of life. Adam McHugh places listening at the heart of our spirituality, our relationships and our mission in the world. God himself is the God who hears, and we too can learn to hear what God may be saying through creation, through Scripture, through people. By cultivating a posture of listening, we become more attentive and engaged with those around us. Listening shapes us and equips us to be more attuned to people in pain and more able to minister to those in distress. Our lives are qualitatively different—indeed, better—when we become listeners. Heed the call to the listening life, and hear what God is doing in you and the world.

Book excerpt: Do you long for something more in your relationship with God? The good news is that “something more” does not mean “doing more.” God is not waiting for you to get your spiritual life “right.” He wants to be with you right where you are. The real question is not “What does God want from you?” but “What does God want for you?” Sharon Jaynes understands what it’s like to have a “glory ache”—a longing to experience God’s presence on a daily basis. She also knows how easily working for God can get in the way of intimacy with God. And she’s discovered that we tend to make our faith journey much too hard. In A Sudden Glory, Sharon uses Scripture and story to help you erase the line between your “spiritual life” and your “daily life” as you enter the sanctuary of God’s presence even in the middle of your busy, messy day. Here you will find your eyes opened to moments of sudden glory in which the Creator assures you of His love as you live and move and have your being in Him.
