Book New Visual Perspectives on Fibonacci Numbers

Download or read book New Visual Perspectives on Fibonacci Numbers written by K T Atanassov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-10-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers new ground on Fibonacci sequences and the well-known Fibonacci numbers. It will appeal to research mathematicians wishing to advance the new ideas themselves, and to recreational mathematicians, who will enjoy the various visual approaches and the problems inherent in them. There is a continuing emphasis on diagrams, both geometric and combinatorial, which helps to tie disparate topics together, weaving around the unifying themes of the golden mean and various generalizations of the Fibonacci recurrence relation. Very little prior mathematical knowledge is assumed, other than the rudiments of algebra and geometry, so the book may be used as a source of enrichment material and project work for college students. A chapter on games using goldpoint tiles is included at the end, and it can provide much material for stimulating mathematical activities involving geometric puzzles of a combinatoric nature. Contents:Number Theoretic Perspectives — Coupled Recurrence Relations:Introductory Remarks by the First AuthorThe 2–Fibonacci SequencesExtensions of the Concepts of 2–Fibonacci SequencesOther Ideas for Modification of the Fibonacci SequencesNumber Theoretic Perspectives—Number Trees:Introduction — Turner's Number TreesGeneralizations Using TableauxOn Gray Codes and Coupled Recurrence TreesStudies of Node Sums on Number TreesConnections with Pascal–T TrianglesGeometric Perspectives — Finonacci Vector Geometry:Introduction and Elementary ResultsVector Sequences from Linear RecurrencesThe Fibonacci Honeycomb PlaneFibonacci and Lucas Vector PolygonsTrigonometry in the Honeycomb PlaneVector Sequences Generated in PlanesFibonacci Tracks, Groups, and Plus–Minus SequencesGeometric Perspectives — Goldpoint Geometry:On Goldpoints and Golden-Mean ConstructionsThe Goldpoint Rings of a Line-SegmentSome Fractals in Goldpoint GeometryTriangles and Squares Marked with GoldpointsPlane Tessellations with Goldpoint TrianglesTessellations with Goldpoint SquaresGames with Goldpoint Tiles Readership: Researchers, academics, college teachers and general readers interested in Fibonacci mathematics. Keywords:Reviews:“… the authors explored many applications of the Fibonacci-type sequences that are new and point the way to many additional lines of study. Their ideas were original and well-described and I recommend this book to anyone interested in iterative processes on integers.”MAA Online Book Review “Altogether this is a very stimulating book.”Mathematics Abstracts “… much of the number-theoretical work gains a good deal of interest if the reader has some knowledge of these traditional results and techniques.”New Zealand Mathematical Society Newsletter “Vorobiev's book presents a solid overview, perfectly pitched to undergraduates … it speaks to a more sophisticated audience and reflects the new developments of the intervening years, especially the beautiful role of Fibonacci numbers in Matiyasevich's groundbreaking negative solution of Hilbert's tenth problem.”Choice

Book Real and Complex Singularities

Download or read book Real and Complex Singularities written by James William Bruce and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999-08-26 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The boundaries of singularity theory are broad and vague, connecting the most important applications of mathematics and science with more abstract areas. Optics, robotics, computer vision, Hamiltonian mechanics, bifurcation theory and differential equations are among the variety of topics that benefit from developments in the theory. With singularity theory encompassing more and more applications, Real and Complex Singularities provides insight into the future of this expanding field. Comprising refereed contributions to the Fifth Workshop on Real and Complex Singularities, this volume addresses three important areas related to the broad subject of singularities. The first section deals with questions within singularity theory itself, representing the topics currently being investigated. The second explores applications of singularity theory to differential geometry, robotics, and computer vision. The final section consists of applications to bifurcation theory and dynamical systems. With over two-hundred tables that provide quick access to data, this volume is a complete overview of the most current topics and applications of singularity theory. Real and Complex Singularities creates the opportunity for you to stay up-to-date with recent advances and discover promising directions for future research in the field.

Book Thermal Quantum Field Theory

Download or read book Thermal Quantum Field Theory written by F. C. Khanna and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents recent developments in quantum field theory at finite temperature. By using Lie groups, ideas from thermal theory are considered with concepts of symmetry, allowing for applications not only to quantum field theory but also to transport theory, quantum optics and statistical mechanics. This includes an analysis of geometrical and topological aspects of spatially confined systems with applications to the Casimir effect, superconductivity and phase transitions. Finally, some developments in open systems are also considered. The book provides a unified picture of the fundamental aspects in thermal quantum field theory and their applications, and is important to the field as a result, since it combines several diverse ideas that lead to a better understanding of different areas of physics.

Book First Dooowwwnnn and Life to Go

Download or read book First Dooowwwnnn and Life to Go written by Red Cashion and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Red Cashion is quite possibly the most universally liked referee in NFL history. Fans loved him; coaches respected him; players joked with him; and league executives applauded him for adding flavor with his trademark "first dooowwwnnn" call. Long before he worked three Super Bowls and became the only official ever to be named the All-Madden team, Cashion nearly gave up on his NFL dreams. He began officiating junior high games in 1952 while still a student at Texas A&M, but he was fired by the Southland Conference for being too robotic and dull. Nevertheless, Cashion scheduled a January 1972 trip to New York to meet with Art McNally, the Director of Officiating for the NFL. McNally listened politely and then delicately told Cashion there were no openings. Cashion left that day with a broken heart, believing the dream was officially over. But an NFL official was killed during the summer of '72 and McNally offered Cashion the job because he'd taken such a bold risk by traveling to New York. The rest is NFL history, as Cashion's No. 43 uniform became as familiar to many fans at NFL stadiums as some of the players. Red's feel-good life story packs a powerfully enthusiastic punch.

Book excerpt: The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF or CEFR) was put together by the Council of Europe as a way of standardising the levels of language exams in different regions. It is very widely used internationally and all important exams are mapped to the CEFR. There are six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. A2 Waystage An ability to deal with simple, straightforward information and begin to express oneself in familiar contexts. A2 Flyers, formerly known as Cambridge English: Flyers (YLE Flyers), is one of our Cambridge English Qualifications. It is a fun, activity-based English tests for children. A2 Flyers is the third of three Cambridge English Qualifications designed for young learners. These tests introduce children to everyday written and spoken English and are an excellent way for them to gain confidence and improve their English. A2 Flyers is corresponding with A2 Waystage under CEFR. By referring Cambridge dictionary online and other resource, we collect 1560 Vocabulary for A2 Flyers. We give the English and Chinese explanations. If there are more than one explanations under each phrase, we choose only the ones under A2 classification.
