Book Gluten is it making you sick or fat

Download or read book Gluten is it making you sick or fat written by Sandra Cabot MD and published by SCB International. This book was released on with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is it possible that gluten could cause such damage in your body that you become unwell or overweight? Even if you are NOT a celiac, could gluten really make you very ill? The truth is YES ! How can gluten make us fat? We have been taught to think that excess fat and/or sugar makes us fat. But can gluten alone make us overweight or stop us losing weight? You bet it can, I have seen it do this in hundreds of my patients. For many overweight people gluten is an addictive appetite stimulant! How can gluten make us sick? Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, spelt and some types of oats. It is also an additive in a huge number of processed foods. Gluten may cause celiac disease only, or it may provoke severe inflammation throughout the body; it has been linked to many autoimmune diseases, mood disorders, mental illness such as bipolar and schizophrenia, neuro-degenerative diseases (such as multiple sclerosis and dementia), autism and cancer. Modern day wheat is known as dwarf wheat or “FrankenWheat” and contains super gluten which is much more likely to create inflammation in the body. The problems with gluten are very real and scientifically validated and yet many doctors are not interested or have a closed mind. Eliminating gluten may not only make you feel more energetic and lose weight, it could save your life. Many people try a gluten free diet for a few weeks only, and then seeing no huge improvement, they quit. It can take 12 months of a gluten free diet before all the gluten gets out of your body and before the gluten affected cells are fully repaired. There are delicious gluten free recipes and alternatives described in this book. Enquiries Dr Cabot’s Health Advisory Service - Australia 02 4655 8855 or USA 623 334 3232 www.cabothealth.com.au

Book excerpt: An incendiary work of science journalism debunking the myths that dominate the American diet and showing readers how to stop feeling guilty and start loving their food again—sure to ignite controversy over our obsession with what it means to eat right. FREE YOURSELF FROM ANXIETY ABOUT WHAT YOU EAT Gluten. Salt. Sugar. Fat. These are the villains of the American diet—or so a host of doctors and nutritionists would have you believe. But the science is far from settled and we are racing to eliminate wheat and corn syrup from our diets because we’ve been lied to. The truth is that almost all of us can put the buns back on our burgers and be just fine. Remember when butter was the enemy? Now it’s good for you. You may have lived through times when the Atkins Diet was good, then bad, then good again; you may have wondered why all your friends cut down on salt or went Paleo; and you might even be thinking about cutting out wheat products from your own diet. For readers suffering from dietary whiplash, The Gluten Lie is the answer. Scientists and physicians know shockingly little about proper nutrition that they didn’t know a thousand years ago, even though Americans spend billions of dollars and countless hours obsessing over “eating right.” In this groundbreaking work, Alan Levinovitz takes on bestselling physicians and dietitians, exposing the myths behind how we come to believe which foods are good and which are bad—and pointing the way to a truly healthful life, free from anxiety about what we eat.

Download or read book Wheat Belly written by William Davis and published by Rodale Books. This book was released on 2014-06-03 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Includes a sneak peek of Undoctored—the new book from Dr. Davis! In this #1 New York Times bestseller, a renowned cardiologist explains how eliminating wheat from our diets can prevent fat storage, shrink unsightly bulges, and reverse myriad health problems. Every day, over 200 million Americans consume food products made of wheat. As a result, over 100 million of them experience some form of adverse health effect, ranging from minor rashes and high blood sugar to the unattractive stomach bulges that preventive cardiologist William Davis calls "wheat bellies." According to Davis, that excess fat has nothing to do with gluttony, sloth, or too much butter: It's due to the whole grain wraps we eat for lunch. After witnessing over 2,000 patients regain their health after giving up wheat, Davis reached the disturbing conclusion that wheat is the single largest contributor to the nationwide obesity epidemic—and its elimination is key to dramatic weight loss and optimal health. In Wheat Belly, Davis exposes the harmful effects of what is actually a product of genetic tinkering and agribusiness being sold to the American public as "wheat"—and provides readers with a user-friendly, step-by-step plan to navigate a new, wheat-free lifestyle. Informed by cutting-edge science and nutrition, along with case studies from men and women who have experienced life-changing transformations in their health after waving goodbye to wheat, Wheat Belly is an illuminating look at what is truly making Americans sick and an action plan to clear our plates of this seemingly benign ingredient.

Book How to Lose Weight with a Gluten Free Diet

Download or read book How to Lose Weight with a Gluten Free Diet written by Lily McNeil and published by Hyperink Inc. This book was released on 2012-03-02 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABOUT THE BOOK “Gluten-free” seems to be all the rage these days. As diagnoses of gluten sensitivity and the autoimmune disorder Celiac disease have increased, more and more restaurants are offering gluten-free options, some supermarkets have aisles dedicated to the stuff, and even national coffee shop chains have jumped on the gluten-free bandwagon. Even people without allergies have begun to eschew gluten, citing improved digestion, clearer thinking, and better moods. So what’s the deal with “gluten-free”? What does it mean? Is it just a gimmick? Or is it a healthful eating choice? And here’s the big question: can you lose weight by adopting a gluten-free diet? All these questions will be answered in this guide, but let’s get the biggie out of the way: yes, you can lose weight by adopting a gluten-free diet. You can also, however, gain weight on a gluten-free diet. Ditching the gluten is not a dieting “Get Out of Jail Free” card. Switching out wheat and other gluten-containing foods can help your body streamline its fat-burning processes and improve your overall health, but it’s not a magic bullet. Gluten-free foods can contain just as much sugar, fat, artificial preservatives, and other “bad” stuff as their “normal” counterparts. MEET THE AUTHOR Lily is very close to finishing her Ph.D. at the University of Oxford. She also has an utterly non-lucrative Masters of Fine Arts in poetry. "Lily McNeil" is a pseudonym. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK Although Celiac disease affects less than 1% of the population, it is a serious autoimmune condition that is triggered by eating the gluten protein. In response to the protein, the small intestine destroys its own villi, which are responsible for absorbing nutrients from food. Without these nutrients, the body becomes severely malnourished. That’s where a gluten-free diet comes in. Those who have Celiac disease must adhere to a very strict diet of no gluten whatsoever, even in vitamin pills and lip balm. But even if you don’t have Celiac disease or a severe intolerance to gluten, cutting it out of your diet can help you feel better. And if you reduce your consumption of cookie, cake, and bread alternatives and increase the amount of vegetables and fruits you eat, you will lose weight. Fittingly, some doctors are beginning to advocate for not only a gluten-free diet, but for a major reduction in all refined wheat products and other carbohydrates. Cardiologist Dr. William Davis, author of Wheat Belly, argues that wheat and other grain-based carbohydrates are responsible for a whole host of health problems, especially weight gain. In a discussion about our society’s “addiction” to wheat products, Dr. Davis says that wheat... Buy a copy to keep reading!

Download or read book No Grain No Pain written by Peter Osborne and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2016-01-26 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A must-read book for anyone suffering from chronic pain” (Sara Gottfried, MD), No Grain, No Pain demonstrates the proven link between a gluten-heavy diet and chronic pain and discomfort—and offers a groundbreaking, 30-day, grain-free diet to help you heal yourself from the inside out. More than 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain, according to an Institute of Medicine report released in 2011. For many, chronic pain is part of an autoimmune disease, but all too often doctors turn to the same solution: painkilling drugs. But all of this medication simply isn’t helping, and as Dr. Peter Osborne, the leading authority on gluten sensitivity and food allergies has found, the real solution often lies in what you eat. In No Grain, No Pain, Dr. Osborne shows how grains wreak havoc on the body by causing tissue inflammation, creating vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and triggering an autoimmune response that causes the body to attack itself. But he also offers practical steps to find relief. Using his drug-free, easy-to-implement plan, you will be able to eliminate all sources of gluten and gluten-like substances, experience significant improvement in fifteen days, and eliminate pain within thirty days. The first book to identify diet—specifically, grain—as a leading cause of chronic suffering, No Grain, No Pain provides you with the knowledge you need to improve your health. Based on extensive research and examples culled from thousands of his satisfied patients, Dr. Osborne recommends changing your diet to achieve the relief that millions of Americans have been seeking once and for all, leading to a healthier, happier life.
