Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A God chaser is a person whose passion for God's presence presses him to chase the impossible in hopes that the uncatchable might catch him. A child chases a loving parent until, suddenly, the strong arms of the father enfold the chaser. The pursuer becomes the captive; the pursued the captor. Paul put it this way: "I chase after that I may catch that which apprehended me" (Phil. 3:12). Job was a God chaser. He said, "Oh that I knew where I might find Him!" David was one; he said, "My soul followeth hard after Thee." Paul was one too: "That I may know Him..." The passionate paths of God chasers can be traced across the pages of history from Moses the stutterer, David the singer, and Paul the itinerant preacher, to contemporaries like A.W. Tozer, Leonard Ravenhill, and countless others who share one common bond: an insatiable hunger to know their Lord. These are people whose relentless, passionate pursuit of Christ often made them appear foolish in the eyes of others. Yet, having tasted His goodness and glimpsed the invisible, they could be satisfied with nothing less. Add your name to the list...become a God chaser. Who know? You might be one whom He catches.

Book excerpt: Only One Addiction Can Set You Free Matt Papa was a "professional Christian" in full-time ministry, ready and determined to change the world. All the while he was depressed, addicted to the approval of others, and enslaved to sin. But then everything changed. He encountered the glory of God. All of us live in the tension between where we are and where we ought to be. We try our best to bully our desires into submission. And we all know, this is exhausting. Are you tired? Stuck? Still fighting the same sin you've been fighting for years? The call in these pages is not to work or to strive, but to lift your eyes. You don't need more willpower. You need a vision of greatness that sweeps you off your feet. You need to see glory. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Look and Live. "Matt has helped me see that love for God grows out of an experience of beholding the love of God. We burn only as we behold. . . . This is a fantastic book and I commend it to you with the most enthusiastic support."--from the Foreword by J.D. Greear "Matt Papa cares about the glory of God, and you can sense that zeal on every page of this dynamic book. He also cares about you and me getting to grips with that glory. . . . Matt guides us through these pages with kindness, seriousness, and love--for God's greater glory and our greater good."--Matt Redman, songwriter and worship leader "Making our lives about one unflinching gaze upon the glory of Christ--what a vision Matt Papa has put before us. I encourage everyone to read this book!"--Tony Merida, pastor, professor, and author "Matt Papa's book is a snakebite kit for suffering sinners. Each sentence of Look and Live extracts Satan's deadly venom and resuscitates the soul with the life-giving power of the glory of God!"--Tony Nolan, snakebite survivor, author, and gospel preacher "To journey through this book is to go on a quest that will awaken our souls to the reality of the One who is 'majestic in holiness' and 'awesome in glorious deeds.'"--Dr. Brent Crowe, author, speaker, and vice president of Student Leadership University "I have been wonderfully blessed by Matt Papa's friendship and ministry. I am grateful his reflections on worship are now shared in Look and Live. It is biblically faithful and keeps the focus of worship where it belongs: on our glorious God."--Daniel L. Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary "Matt Papa faithfully points us to the soul-stirring glory of God. Read this book and allow your heart to once again behold the wondrous mystery."--Matt Boswell, founder of Doxology & Theology, and pastor of ministries and worship at Providence Church, Frisco, Texas "This is Matt's life message--that Jesus Christ alone is worth living for, and that when you gaze upon His majesty and glory you will never be the same. This book is theologically robust and practically helpful, packed with Scripture and insight into the person and work of the risen Son of God. . . . This is a true gift to the church."--Clayton King, president of Crossroads Camps and Clayton King Ministries "If C. S. Lewis and David Crowder wrote a book together about worship, you would have the rich theology of the great Christian apologist with the deep passion of worship from the contemporary artist. That's what Matt Papa has given us in Look and Live--a must-read for every worshiper."--Mike Harland, president of LifeWay Worship

Book Bound for Glory

Download or read book Bound for Glory written by Woody Guthrie and published by Penguin. This book was released on 1983-09-15 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1943, this autobiography is also a superb portrait of America's Depression years, by the folk singer, activist, and man who saw it all. Woody Guthrie was born in Oklahoma and traveled this whole country over—not by jet or motorcycle, but by boxcar, thumb, and foot. During the journey of discovery that was his life, he composed and sang words and music that have become a national heritage. His songs, however, are but part of his legacy. Behind him Woody Guthrie left a remarkable autobiography that vividly brings to life both his vibrant personality and a vision of America we cannot afford to let die. “Even readers who never heard Woody or his songs will understand the current esteem in which he’s held after reading just a few pages… Always shockingly immediate and real, as if Woody were telling it out loud… A book to make novelists and sociologists jealous.” —The Nation

Book WHO CARES

Download or read book WHO CARES written by Susan McCaffery and published by Grosvenor House Publishing. This book was released on 2024-01-18 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In thinking about the contents of these books, which I believe God led me to read, then seeking the Lord for inspiration, three booklets grew in quick succession. "The Good News", a testimony of how the Lord has guided me since becoming a "real" Christian. "Where did we go wrong?", how we as Christians and a church have moved far away from God; and "Reformation and the church", about what Christians and the church have neglected and forgotten over the years. To truly know and experienced the full, entirely powerful glory of God, His awesomeness brilliance in appearance and the mighty God, Who performs miracles. In the UK, we have lost and indeed many have never experienced the total magnificence of God and we need to discover this again to fully empower Christians to reveal God to the world. In this book, I have tried to give you a flavour of what the Lord has shown me in the books I've read, and especially in the Bible, God's inspired word to the world, together with the booklets, God inspired me to write. I have called the book "Who Cares" with a subsidiary title "Is there a God who cares for you?" Outlining what I have experienced of God leading me over the 40 years, since I first became a Christian. It has not always been easy, sometimes wondering if God is there, if He is real, but looking back over the years, I realise the answer has to be yes. God is real, because I have met Him and heard from Him. He has guided me in difficult times and healed me of sickness, led me to places I would not have thought to go, brought me to meet some amazing people and on occasions given me a glimpse of His Glory. These things I would like to share with you to encourage you to seek more of God, on your continued walk with Him, so you can have a greater experience of His Majesty but even more, come to know His great love for you. The book is attempting to answer three questions. Firstly "Is there a God who cares?", giving some answers to those who have doubts or disbelieve. And showing through the life of one man, a family then a nation, whom God chose to reveal Himself to, that He exists and has a purpose for him and all mankind. Secondly "a God Who cares for you," in telling of how God has shown in my life how he cares for me, can help you to also know how much God cares for you. Thirdly "How God cares for the people of world, by seeing how the Church began and more specifically how the Church grew in the UK. Finally I try to answer the question "Where have we gone wrong?" and suggested how this might be put right. I used the term Church , because most people have an understanding of what is meant by that, but in fact the word Church is really relating to the people, not building. I pray that as you read this book, it will inspire you and many others to also see the way forward for the Church in the UK, that this nation will again became the people God intended us to be, reaching out to the people of the world with the love God has for us.

Book excerpt: In today's social media-saturated world, the word influence conjures up images of beautifully curated Instagram feeds or women who lead from the stage and have thousands of followers. It's measured by the number of likes and shares and how well we can get people to imitate us. Influence has almost become synonymous with fame and power, and if we're honest, many of us long to have it. But in its purest form, influence is simply the capacity to affect change on someone. It is the ability to impact others for a certain purpose. And from a biblical perspective, influence is the right and responsibility of everyone who follows Christ. Courageous Influence will guide you in the journey of living the impact you were made to have through this six-session study. Let's turn the world's idea of influence on its head and become the courageous women of influence God calls us to be.
