Balakrishnan’s Managerial Accounting 1st edition presents accounting information in the context of business decision making. It combines the traditional topics of managerial accounting with a strategic framework that shows students how to construct decision models and measure information. Book King of Cons

Download or read book King of Cons written by Aaron Tonken and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2004-12-13 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In a LAND of MORAL IMBECILES,I knew I could be KING." He was one of the most prominent producers of fundraising events in the country, throwing monumental charity bashes, securing millions of dollars in donations for the sick and needy. The trouble was, some of the people profiting were greedy politicians, and many of the "charity cases" were really only pampered Hollywood stars. It's a true-life spectacular that only Hollywood could produce. Now, the story that shook the industry will finally shatter the façade of Hollywood's philanthropy and Washington's populism, once and for all exposing how empty are the real lifestyles of many of the rich and famous, and what really happens to charity money meant for the poor. When Aaron Tonken arrived in Los Angeles in the early nineties, he had nothing, not even a high-school education. Yet within just a few years, he was a friend and business associate of the leading lights of Hollywood and the most powerful people in Washington. Tonken produced many of the biggest charitable and political functions ever seen on either coast, honoring former presidents Ford and Clinton, and raising money for the preferred charities of some of the biggest names in showbiz. But hidden behind the glamour of these galas was a sordid tale, as Tonken became the central character in a tragicomedy featuring demanding stars and politicians grasping for big-dollar campaign donations. In King of Cons, you'll read how Aaron Tonken: Helped Hollywood darlings use money from their own charities Was mentored by Peter Paul-ex con, Fabio manager, and business partner of Spider-Man creator Stan Lee Got sucked into the criminal underworld of Los Angeles-the con artists, grifters, and porn kings. Was bullied by the diva behavior of Roseanne, Paula Abdul, Natalie Cole, and members of the cast of Friends Was approached for payments for appearances or performances at charity events by Cher, Sylvester Stallone, Lance Bass of *NSYNC, and the Democratic National Committee Got involved with Denise Rich, ex-wife of fugitive financier Marc Rich, the subject of a controversial last-minute pardon by President Bill Clinton From his bizarre days as a virtual prisoner in the decrepit mansion of Zsa Zsa Gabor to his entanglements with hustlers, con artists, and the Clintons, Aaron tracks the whole sordid story of how he squandered millions of dollars from charities in the world of celebrity politicians and politicking celebrities.

  • Author : Teresa J. Wilkins
  • Publisher : University of Oklahoma Press
  • Release : 2013-03-15

Download or read book Patterns of Exchange written by Teresa J. Wilkins and published by University of Oklahoma Press. This book was released on 2013-03-15 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Navajo rugs and textiles that people admire and buy today are the result of many historical influences, particularly the interaction between Navajo weavers and the traders who guided their production and controlled their sale. John Lorenzo Hubbell and other late-nineteenth-century traders were convinced they knew which patterns and colors would appeal to Anglo-American buyers, and so they heavily encouraged those designs. In Patterns of Exchange, Teresa J. Wilkins traces how the relationships between generations of Navajo weavers and traders affected Navajo weaving. The Navajos valued their relationships with Hubbell and others who operated trading posts on their reservation. As a result, they did not always see themselves as exploited victims of a capitalist system. Rather, because of Navajo cultural traditions of gift-giving and helping others, the artists slowly adapted some of the patterns and colors the traders requested into their own designs. By the 1890s, Hubbell and others commissioned paintings depicting particular weaving styles and encouraged Navajo weavers to copy them, reinforcing public perceptions of traditional Navajo weaving. Even the Navajos came to revere certain designs as “the weaving of the ancestors.” Enhanced by numerous illustrations, including eight color plates, this volume traces the intricate play of cultural and economic pressures and personal relationships between artists and traders that guided Navajo weavers to produce textiles that are today emblems of the Native American Southwest. Book Amazing Arizona

    Book Details:
  • Author : Boye Lafayette De Mente
  • Publisher : Cultural-Insight Books
  • Release : 2010
  • ISBN : 0914778714
  • Pages : 280 pages

Download or read book Amazing Arizona written by Boye Lafayette De Mente and published by Cultural-Insight Books. This book was released on 2010 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arizona is unique among American states, not only in its geography and geology but also in the diversity of its climate, in its indigenous animal and plant life, and in the history of its first inhabitants-communities of Indians whose ancestors arrived on the scene more than 20,000 years ago. Arizona is also the youngest of the contiguous mainland states of America...precisely because of these very same factors. Its climate, geography and Indian tribes were major barriers that prevented the territory from becoming widely populated by the Spanish, Mexicans and early European-Americans, and from being used as a cross-roads by American fur/pelt trappers, gold prospectors and settlers who began pushing west in the mid-1800s. Now, it is exactly these same factors that make Arizona a great place to live as well as a world-famous travel destination. The stories of how Arizona finally became what it is today are as amazing as the lay and the beauty of the land. Great background reading for residents and visitors alike, and an ideal gift.

Book Establish the Work of Our Hands

Download or read book Establish the Work of Our Hands written by Ron Polinder and published by LifeRich Publishing. This book was released on 2022-04-05 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This did not start out to be a memoir; rather a compilation of professional and opinion-writing to one day be read by our children and grandchildren. Early in the process it became clear that some chronology was needed to give background and context. Thus a memoir, plus. Still intended for the extended family, it is full of stories and perspectives from two different cultures and geographies, different decades and histories. This will also be of interest to a general audience who may not read the whole book but will enjoy reading “in” the book. Polinder writes with voice—to know him will be to hear him telling his stories. Honest, insightful, warm and funny—you will learn much about leadership, relationship and partnership, most often with a smile.
