Ghostly Parallels is a close examination of the heart of his poetic corpus-the eight collections published between 1935 and 1976: Thirty-Six Poems; Eleven Poems on the Same Theme; Promises; You, Emperors, and Others; Tale of Time; Incarnations; Or Else; and Can I See Arcturus from Where I Stand? Ghostly Parallels shows how Warren constructed collections of poems based on common subjects and contexts and also contends that, while the poems are distinctive, taken together they reveal intricate patterns of theme, imagery, and diction within explicit sequences. Runyon demonstrates that Warren's collections are integrated, well-crafted wholes, and each poem references its predecessor-sometimes in intriguingly self-referential ways. Runyon shows that despite the many changes in diction, tone, and subject that Warren underwent in his long career, his concern for writing his poems in such a way that they could reach out beyond themselves to other poems remained remarkably constant. In the arrangement Warren gave them, his poems form “ghostly parallels”-an expression that appears in “The Return: An Elegy,” where they refer to the railroad tracks that bring the poet home to his dying mother. This return to the mother is a persistent leitmotif in the poems and forms the other major theme of this study: Warren's personal poetic myth, in which such images as golden light and mirror images are signs of the mother's presence as both Danae, mother of Perseus, and Medusa, whom Perseus confronted. Through pursuing sequential patterns as well as echoes and myth, GhostlyParallels brings a wealth of insights to the work of this prolific novelist, critic, and essayist. Book excerpt: Arguing that limited nationalist perspectives have circumscribed the critical scope of American Studies scholarship, Virtual Americas advocates a comparative criticism that illuminates the work of well-known literary figures by defamiliarizing it—placing it in unfamiliar contexts. Paul Giles looks at a number of canonical nineteenth- and twentieth-century American writers by focusing on their interactions with British culture. He demonstrates how American authors from Herman Melville to Thomas Pynchon have been compulsively drawn to negotiate with British culture so that their nationalist agendas have emerged, paradoxically, through transatlantic dialogues. Virtual Americas ultimately suggests that conceptions of national identity in both the United States and Britain have emerged through engagement with—and, often, deliberate exclusion of—ideas and imagery emanating from across the Atlantic. Throughout Virtual Americas Giles focuses on specific examples of transatlantic cultural interactions such as Frederick Douglass’s experiences and reputation in England; Herman Melville’s satirizing fictions of U.S. and British nationalism; and Vladimir Nabokov’s critique of European high culture and American popular culture in Lolita. He also reverses his perspective, looking at the representation of San Francisco in the work of British-born poet Thom Gunn and Sylvia Plath’s poetic responses to England. Giles develops his theory about the need to defamiliarize the study of American literature by considering the cultural legacy of Surrealism as an alternative genealogy for American Studies and by examining the transatlantic dimensions of writers such as Henry James and Robert Frost in the context of Surrealism.

Stapleton carefully considers Marlowe's Elegies in the context of his seven known dramatic works and his epyllion, Hero and Leander, and offers a different way to read Marlowe. Stapleton employs Marlowe's rendition of the Amores as a way to read his seven dramatic productions and his narrative poetry while engaging with previous scholarship devoted to the accuracy of the translation and to bibliographical issues. The author focuses on four main principles: the intertextual relationship of the Elegies to the rest of the author's canon; its reflection of the influence of Erasmian humanist pedagogy, imitatio and aemulatio; its status as the standard English Amores until the Glorious Revolution, part of the larger phenomenon of pan-European Renaissance Ovidianism; its participation in the genre of the sonnet sequence. He explores how translating the Amores into the Elegies profited Marlowe as a writer, a kind of literary archaeology that explains why he may have commenced such an undertaking. Marlowe's Ovid adds to the body of scholarly work in a number of subfields, including classical influences in English literature, translation, sexuality in literature, early modern poetry and drama, and Marlowe and his milieu.

Scarlet tells it to Alex and Alex also agrees but, Scarlet’s mom comes in middle and destroys their plan by telling that Scarlet and Alex’s family both are going to Paris next week together for vacation! In Paris, Alex and Scarlet gets a surprise by seeing the beauty of Eifel Tower and other Parisian places. There when Alex was resting on his bed with the excitement to go to the castle museum in the evening, Scarlet comes in and started to have fun with Alex. Soon their having fun turns into a beautiful romance with kisses and cuddling and Alex in main time thinks about taking the romance in next level by taking clothes off. And they are climbing up!!!” Scarlet Jumps on Alex while screaming with fear and suddenly trouble in paradise! Alex’s mom came inside the room for give candles to Alex and Scarlet and again Alex forgot to lock the door and became red with embarrassment while trying to find a word how to describe the current situation while Scarlet is hanging by Alex because of the fear of cockroaches. Days pass more and more cute and embarrassing moments like it happens with our lovers and one day they found out a diary which was written in 1700s by a Austrian traveller who came to Great Britain’s love place and got to know about the Love of Mary and Austin. Alex and Scarlet decides to go in the place and read the diary near the tomb of Mary and Austin. The next day Alex and Scarlet goes there and sat on a bench together and starts to read the diary and they got to know about Mary and Austin’s love story, the love story of 1500s-1600s Great Britain which was sacrificed due to different religions and more hardships. Tears comes out of Scarlet’s eyes while reading about the condition of Austin and Mary but, suddenly in middle of everything Alex notices a beautiful lady wearing white dress is standing near Austin’s tomb and white pigeons are around her and the moon has started to rise. “Who are you?” Alex and Scarlet goes closer to the lady and asked her. “Do you want to know?” The lady asked them back. “Yes” Alex and Scarlet says in unison while being confused. The lady gives her hands towards Alex and Scarlet and Alex and Scarlet touches the lady’s hand and suddenly they both lost their consciousness. Scarlet and Alex started to see everything by their eyes this time, which they were reading in the diary. The Great Britain of 1500s and 1600s, the people, Mary and Austin, Knight David, King and Queen everything! Scarlet and Alex were astonished with seeing that this is all happening in front of their eyes as they are watching a forbidden love story in front of their eyes, which was forbidden because of the social norms of that era and the religious rules. The historical love story was touching Scarlet and Alex’s heart as they were knowing more about it and more but suddenly Alex recognised that Mary is the same lady who told Scarlet and Alex to hold her hands and so is that means?
