Download or read book Intellectual Capital as a Management Tool written by Göran Roos and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As technology evolves, it can be difficult to maintain a competitive edge. The management of intangible resources like competence, relationships, brands, processes and systems becomes increasingly important in such a world. Intellectual Capital as a Management Tool reviews the evidence to demonstrate where the intellectual capital view of the firm has made major contributions. The book introduces an updated version of the Intellectual Capital Navigator as an operational tool to help managers maximise value generation from an organisations portfolio of diverse resources. This tool is the only tool that enables organisations to use the resource based view of the firm in an operational way. The book also discusses future developments of the Intellectual Capital Navigator, increasing its precision around the financial aspects of the organisation. The book has broad application across all types of organisations and in all operating environments and is vital reading for managers who want to understand and exploit the importance of managing intellectual capital.
Download or read book Leadership and Organizational Sustainability written by Elia Socorro Díaz Nieto and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-06-27 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents a new type of leadership focused on sustainable human development and organizational sustainability, which is based on the self-realization of the person of the leader, which means the satisfaction of their needs, according to the scale of Abraham Maslow, through integral human development in all aspects of life. Because the term "leader" appears to refer to anyone with the authority to confer a position with subordinates, the reality within organizations has shown that a leader must go further and demonstrate commitment, awareness, and concern for the common good. Which person has these characteristics? People who have had more opportunity to develop in different areas of their being, resulting in them being conceived as more educated. The qualities in a person are the basis of leadership. Education and practice are much more important than all hereditary and genetic codes. This volume explores the various ways of making explicit the dimensions of social, economic, and environmental sustainability through knowledge management that addresses the identification, collection, processing, circulation, use, exchange, and preservation of knowledge within operating systems and the context of organizations, considering issues that contribute to sustainability – human and organizational – where the leader is the main actor and the means is knowledge management.
Download or read book Improving Air Safety through Organizational Learning written by Jose Sanchez-Alarcos Ballesteros and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-13 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The key theme of this book is organizational learning and its consequences for the field of aviation safety. Air safety rates have been improving for a long time, demonstrating the effects of a good learning model at work. However, the pace of improvement has almost come to a standstill. Why is this? Many safety improvements have been embodied in technology. New devices and procedures appear almost daily, yet the rate of air safety improvement has dragged in recent years. Improving Air Safety through Organizational Learning explains this situation as being the consequence of a development model supported chiefly by information technology being introduced as an alternative to human operators. This is not a book about the convenience of including or not including IT in aviation, but an open discussion about the adequacy and risks of some practices in the field. Two different but complementary issues emerge. Firstly, a real improvement in air safety requires a different approach, since the present one seems now to be exhausted. Secondly, the current approach has powerful economic roots, and any new approach must deal with this fact, improving safety rates without becoming financially damaging. Consequently the book is divided into two parts. Part one deals with the issue of the present learning model organizing the conclusions around accident reports that show themselves the existence of a problem: the present use of technology makes the system better at doing things already known, while at the same time it makes the whole system worse at dealing with unplanned situations. Part two suggests a new development model, one that makes strong use of technology but at the same time questions every step: what knowledge will disappear from the system and what is the potential effect of that loss?
Download or read book IMF Glossary written by International Monetary Fund and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2007-05-24 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This seventh, revised edition of the IMF Glossary: English-French-Spanish contains approximately 4,000 records that are believed to be the most useful to translators dealing with IMF material. The main body of the Glossary consists of terms, phraseological units, and institutional titles covering areas such as macroeconomics, money and banking, public finance, taxation, balance of payments, statistics, accounting, and economic development. It contains terminology relating to the IMF's organization and operations, as well as from the Articles of Agreement, By-Laws, Rules and Regulations, and other major IMF publications. Since the Glossary is concept-based, synonyms are consolidated into one single entry. Cross- references refer to the main entry under which the various synonyms are listed ("see") and also draw the user's attention to terms that are related but not synonyms ("see also"). Currency units of countries and monetary unions, an IMF organizational chart in the three languages, and color-coded French and Spanish indexes are provided in appendixes.

Download or read book Cultural Values in Strategy and Organization written by T. K. Das and published by IAP. This book was released on 2021-06-01 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of strategy science has grown in both the diversity of issues it addresses and the increasingly interdisciplinary approaches it adopts in understanding the nature and significance of problems that are continuously emerging in the world of human endeavor. These newer kinds of challenges and opportunities arise in all forms of organizations, encompassing private and public enterprises, and with strategies that experiment with breaking the traditional molds and contours. The field of strategy science is also, perhaps inevitably, being impacted by the proliferation of hybrid organizations such as strategic alliances, the upsurge of approaches that go beyond the customary emphasis on competitiveness and profit making, and the intermixing of time-honored categories of activities such as business, industry, commerce, trade, government, the professions, and so on. The blurring of the boundaries between various areas and types of human activities points to a need for academic research to address the consequential developments in strategic issues. Hence, research and thinking about the nature of issues to be tackled by strategy science should also cultivate requisite variety in issues recognized for research inquiry, including the conceptual foundations of strategy and strategy making, and the examination of the critical roles of strategy makers, strategic thinking, time and temporalities, business and other goal choices, diversity in organizing modes for strategy implementation, and the complexities of managing strategy, to name a few. This book series on Research in Strategy Science aims to provide an outlet for ideas and issues that publications in the field do not provide, either expressly or adequately, especially as regards the comprehensive coverage deserved by certain emerging areas of interest. The topics of the volumes in the series will keep in view this objective to expand the research areas and theoretical approaches routinely found in strategy science, the better to permit expanded and expansive treatments of promising issues that may not sufficiently align with the usual research coverage of publications in the field. Cultural Values in Strategy and Organization contains contributions by leading scholars on the role of cultural values in the field of strategy science research. The 11 chapters in this volume cover the topics of ecological organizing and evolving cultural values, corporate cultural responsibility, cultural integration in mergers and acquisitions, culture and paradoxical frames, cultural values in the fair trade market, national culture and legitimacy, family businesses as values-driven organizations, cultural intelligence of executives, building an alliance culture, personal values of civil engineers and architects, and cultural characteristics of Chilean and Brazilian workforces. The chapters collectively present a wide-ranging review of the noteworthy research perspectives on the role of cultural values in strategy and organization.
