Book JFK Jr George Me

Download or read book JFK Jr George Me written by Matt Berman and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Kennedy Jr.’s creative director for George magazine presents “a vivid portrait of JFK Jr. that only a select few have ever seen, offering a touching and honest tribute to John’s legacy” (BookReporter.com). If George magazine was about “not just politics as usual,” a day at the office with John F. Kennedy Jr. was not just business as usual. John handpicked Creative Director Matt Berman to bring his vision for a new political magazine to life. Through marathon nights leading up to George’s launch; extraordinary meetings with celebrities including Barbra Streisand, Robert De Niro, and Demi Moore; and jokes at each other’s expense, Matt developed a wonderfully collaborative and fun-loving relationship with America’s favorite son. They were an unlikely team: the poised, charismatic scion of a beloved political family and the shy, self-deprecating, artistic kid. Yet they became close friends and confidants. In this warm, funny, and intimate book, Matt remembers his brilliant friend and colleague—John’s approach to work, life, and fame, and most of all, his ease and grace, which charmed those around him. More than any book before it, JFK Jr., George, & Me reveals the friendly, witty, down-to-earth guy the paparazzi could never capture. Matt opens the doors of John’s messy office to share previously untold stories, personal notes, and never-before-seen photos from the trenches of a startup magazine that was the brainchild of a superstar. John helped Matt navigate a world filled with celebrities, artists, beauty, style, competition, and stunningly tender egos. In turn, Matt shares the invaluable lessons about business and life that he learned from John. What emerges is a portrait of JFK Jr. as a true friend and mentor.

  • Pages : 26 pages

Download or read book Max and Mila at the Beach written by Amalyn Persohn Martin and published by Children's Melanoma Education Book. This book was released on 2013-04 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to educate your little one on sun safety and most importantly to continue to use these principles in your everyday lives. Melanoma is thought to occur rarely in children. However, a number ... of recent publications and our own experience clearly indicate that a profound change in the natural history of melanoma is now occurring and that melanoma, indeed, is occurring much more frequently in children and teenagers. Teaching children healthy habits at a young age and making it as common as teeth brushing and eating three healthy meals a day is imperative. The best way to prevent melanoma is to minimize exposure of your children's skin to sunlight; the younger they are when they start practicing sun-safe behavior the greater the benefit. A single bad sunburn under the age of 20 may double the risk of melanoma; three blistering sunburns multiplies the risk by five. Minimize exposure from 10 am to 4 pm when the sun is strongest, make sure they wear protective clothing including a wide-brim hat. Sunscreens prevent less serious skin cancers but they won't prevent melanoma if your child stays in the sun for a long time. If you use sunscreen, make sure it is waterproof, has an SPF rating of 30 or more for both UVA and UVB, is applied heavily and is reapplied every 90 minutes or less. Now is the time to take action to prevent the tragedy of melanoma from affecting your children. The first step is to learn more about it yourself. Please visit www.milesagainstmelanoma5k.org to view their resources and learn more about decreasing your family's risk. Please tell your friends and family about this book. 10% of each book sale goes towards melanoma research!

Book Play and playfulness for public health and wellbeing

Download or read book Play and playfulness for public health and wellbeing written by Alison Tonkin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-03-22 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The role of play in human and animal development is well established, and its educational and therapeutic value is widely supported in the literature. This innovative book extends the play debate by assembling and examining the many pieces of the play puzzle from the perspective of public health. It tackles the dual aspects of art and science which inform both play theory and public health policy, and advocates for a ‘playful’ pursuit of public health, through the integration of evidence from parallel scientific and creative endeavors. Drawing on international research evidence, the book addresses some of the major public health concerns of the 21st century – obesity, inactivity, loneliness and mental health – advocating for creative solutions to social disparities in health and wellbeing. From attachment at the start of life to detachment at life’s ending, in the home and in the workplace, and across virtual and physical environments, play is presented as vital to the creation of a new ‘culture of health’. This book represents a valuable resource for students, academics, practitioners and policy-makers across a range of fields of interest including play, health, the creative arts and digital and environmental design.
