Book Oil Field Production Geology

Download or read book Oil Field Production Geology written by Mike Shepherd and published by AAPG. This book was released on 2009-09-20 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book was written for students, new professionals in oil companies, and for anyone with an interest in reservoir geology. It explains the background to production geology in the context of oil field subsurface operations. It also gives practical guidelines as to how a production geologist can analyze the reservoir geology and fluid flow characteristics of an oil field with the aim of improving hydrocarbon recovery. Advice is given on how to search for the remaining oil volumes in a producing field, where these pockets are typically found, and then how to plan wells to target these volumes."--Publisher's description.

Book Geologic Controls on Production

Download or read book Geologic Controls on Production written by Bruce S. Hart and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SEPM Field Trip Guidebook 16 is perhaps best thought of as an exercise in applied stratigraphy and structural geology. The technical goal is to make inter-disciplinary links, to demonstrate how stratigraphic and structural features affect exploration and development activities for unconventional hydrocarbon reservoirs. The outcrops described in this guidebook should help to stimulate discussion on a series of interrelated topics such as: lithology, stratigraphic controls on hydrocarbons, horizontal drilling target, and geosteering challenges.

Book Regional Geology and Tectonics Principles of Geologic Analysis

Download or read book Regional Geology and Tectonics Principles of Geologic Analysis written by Nicola Scarselli and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-06-17 with total page 896 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Regional Geology and Tectonics: Principles of Geologic Analysis, 2nd edition is the first in a three-volume series covering Phanerozoic regional geology and tectonics. The new edition provides updates to the first edition's detailed overview of geologic processes, and includes new sections on plate tectonics, petroleum systems, and new methods of geological analysis. This book provides both professionals and students with the basic principles necessary to grasp the conceptual approaches to hydrocarbon exploration in a wide variety of geological settings globally. - Discusses in detail the principles of regional geological analysis and the main geological and geophysical tools - Captures and identifies the tectonics of the world in detail, through a series of unique geographic maps, allowing quick access to exact tectonic locations - Serves as the ideal introductory overview and complementary reference to the core concepts of regional geology and tectonics offered in volumes 2 and 3 in the series

Book Stratigraphic reservoir characterization for petroleum geologists geophysicists and engineers

Download or read book Stratigraphic reservoir characterization for petroleum geologists geophysicists and engineers written by Roger M. Slatt and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-11-03 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reservoir characterization as a discipline grew out of the recognition that more oil and gas could be extracted from reservoirs if the geology of the reservoir was understood. Prior to that awakening, reservoir development and production were the realm of the petroleum engineer. In fact, geologists of that time would have felt slighted if asked by corporate management to move from an exciting exploration assignment to a more mundane assignment working with an engineer to improve a reservoir's performance. Slowly, reservoir characterization came into its own as a quantitative, multidisciplinary endeavor requiring a vast array of skills and knowledge sets. Perhaps the biggest attractor to becoming a reservoir geologist was the advent of fast computing, followed by visualization programs and theaters, all of which allow young geoscientists to practice their computing skills in a highly technical work environment. Also, the discipline grew in parallel with the evolution of data integration and the advent of asset teams in the petroleum industry. Finally, reservoir characterization flourished with the quantum improvements that have occurred in geophysical acquisition and processing techniques and that allow geophysicists to image internal reservoir complexities.
