Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is very important to understand the recent advances and basic concepts of veterinary genetics to explore the possibilities for control of diseases in animals. They are also significant for enhancing animal production and reproduction. Our book Trends and Advances in Veterinary Genetics provides a concise introduction and details to the aspects of genetics relevant to animal science and production. This is the first edition of the book so it covers the introductory level of topics which are ideal for veterinary students, classroom use, and practitioners who require more guidance with genetics. The book coverage includes the following main sections: Biotechnology and Reproductive Genetics, Advances in Embryonic Genetics, Conservation and Basic Genetics, and Veterinary Genetics and Future. Each book section comprises two chapters from renowned experts from the area and gives readers a unique opportunity to explore the topic.

Download or read book Mitigation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Livestock Production written by Pierre J. Gerber and published by Food & Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO). This book was released on 2013 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current analysis was conducted to evaluate the potential of nutritional, manure and animal husbandry practices for mitigating methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) - i.e. non-carbon dioxide (CO2) - GHG emissions from livestock production. These practices were categorized into enteric CH4, manure management and animal husbandry mitigation practices. Emphasis was placed on enteric CH4 mitigation practices for ruminant animals (only in vivo studies were considered) and manure mitigation practices for both ruminant and monogastric species. Over 900 references were reviewed; simulation and life cycle assessment analyses were generally excluded

Download or read book China the Livestock Sector written by and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study considers the most efficient means of satisfying the growing demand for pork, poultry and dairy products in China's large municipalities and discusses the major issues hampering the development of the sector. These constraints include difficulties in making the transition from an administered to a market system; price distortions due largely to the scope of consumer and producer subsidies; insufficient reliance on interregional and international trade to solve problems of feed and livestock product supply; lack of functional specialization within the industry; and various weaknesses of support services and the sectoral management structure. The report reviews the recent developments in China's livestock production, the organization of the sector, the emergence of Agricultural Trade Markets (ATMs) in large cities as a result of 1985 policy reforms, and influences determining future growth of urban demand for livestock products. Each component of the industry is examined in detail, including feed supply and processing, livestock and poultry breeding, animal health and veterinary services, alternative production systems and product processing.
Download or read book Milk Production Processing and Marketing written by Khalid Javed and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-07-17 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Milk is considered as a complete diet for an infant and contains essential nutrients for the development of young mammals. The substances in milk provide energy and antibodies that help protect against infection. Most farmers are paid for the quality and composition of their milk. Whole milk, once approved for use, is pumped into storage silos where it undergoes pasteurization, homogenization, separation, and further processing. Milk is a highly perishable commodity because it is an excellent medium for the growth of microorganisms - particularly bacterial pathogens - that can cause spoilage as well as diseases in consumers. Milk processing allows the preservation of milk for days, weeks, or months and helps to reduce food-borne illness.
