Book excerpt: Generosity: The Righteous Path to Divine Blessing answers the question of why so many Christians cheat themselves out of God's blessing on their lives by being so stingy with their money? Why is it that the average Christian gives less than 3% of his income to religious and humanitarian causes? Why is it that the average Jewish person gives more than twice as much of his financial increase to charity as the average Christian does? The answers will probably surprise--and may well shock--you! God has set out a righteous path to divine blessing that anyone can walk. This is the narrow way of generosity, the gift of giving that every Christian should manifest continually. It's really quite simple when you choose to do what Jesus said, "Give and you shall receive." Here are some of the challenging and inspiring truths that Generosity: The Righteous Path to Divine Blessing will confirm for you: The Motive for Generosity, The Medium of Generosity, Treasure in the Bank of Heaven, Wealth and the Kingdom of God, Poverty Gospel/Prosperity Gospel, The Blessing of Health and Prosperity. As you read this volume, you will be reconnected with the Hebraic foundations of the Christian faith as they relate to the subjects of money, giving, health, and prosperity. You will be amazed as you discover the secure, balanced positions that God's Word has always taught on these important subjects. Then you will have the freedom to give joyfully and to receive abundantly God's promised provisions of health and prosperity. Get ready for a revolution in your life--and an amazing blessing when you learn to do God's thing God's way.

Book excerpt: John Wesley said we should earn all we can, save all we can, and give all we can. This is great advice, but the reality for many Christians today is more like, "Earn all you can, can all you get, and sit on the lid!" Generosity does not come naturally for most of us, yet it is the first economic principle in God's kingdom. Time after time, God's Word instructs us to be generous with what God gives us. This is how we honor God, impact others, and receive a blessing in the process. In Give to Live, veteran pastor Stan Toler inspires and equips Christians to live generously and to trust God with their finances and lives. This timely and practical book includes a full study guide with small-group discussion questions for each chapter. Embrace the abundant life today!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Giving - a Doorway to Blessings" is a book that takes readers to a new and deeper level of giving itself, revealing what it really is. I am sure every individual, whether Christian or not, is encouraged to be generous, helpful, and to be a giver in some way. As long as we live in a community, we are bound to come across words of encouragement and knowledge about giving. But after hearing and doing that, what's next? It is true that everyone wants a reward for the work they do, whether indirect or direct. Deep down, we need a reward. The Bible itself says in Galatians 6:7, "Whatever one sows, he/she shall reap," meaning that whatever good or bad thing you do, you will have to reap the consequences/reward of it. But have you ever come to a point in life where you do your best, you give to the best of your ability, but do not seem to get results? I once came to a point in my life where I didn't want to hear anything about giving. I reached a point where I thought this "giving" thing was a scam, where I actually preferred not to go to church because if I heard preachings about giving, I would just think, "These people just want our money, nothing else." With time, God gave me the grace to understand what giving really is. Once I had this understanding, I started to see results because I was now doing it with an understanding of what it truly is and the knowledge of how it works. That is why I have decided to share this knowledge and understanding with my fellow Christians. Even if you are not yet a believer in Christ Jesus, I would encourage you to read this book, and I pray that God himself gives you the grace to understand and open your heart to accept Him as Lord and Savior. I have come to realize that when the Bible says, "My people perish because of lack of knowledge," at times it is not that we are failing to do what we have been told, nor is it that we are disobeying what we are always being encouraged to do. The matter lies not only in the doing, but in the knowledge and understanding of what we are doing. Do you have the know-how of what you are doing? We do not just give for the sake of giving, nor do we give merely because we were told that is a good way to live. Giving goes much deeper than the word itself, which is why it is very important for an individual to have a deeper understanding of it. Yes, we are being generous, but do we really have the understanding of what we are doing? Proverbs 4:7 states, "And in all your getting, get understanding." Let's take the example of a farmer. If I am new to farming and an experienced farmer just comes to me and says, "Plant this maize seed in the field and it will grow," out of my obedience I will go and plant. But you see, this farmer hasn't explained to me what it takes for the maize seed to grow. He hasn't told me the type of soil to plant the maize seed in, he hasn't told me when to apply fertilizer, how and when to water the seed, and what amount. All these factors determine whether the seed will grow or not. Out of obedience, I will just go and plant the seed, but the question is: Will the seed really sprout because I was just told to go and plant, and I did? Certainly not! That is why we need the knowledge and understanding of what we do. This book delves deeper into the concept of giving - why giving? It delves into the what, when, how, and why of giving. It is my prayer that as we read this book, the Holy Spirit himself gives us an understanding of what giving truly is, so that we do not just do it for the sake of doing it, nor do we do it merely because we have been told it is good. Giving has rewards, and when done according to God's principles, when done with knowledge, when done with understanding, I guarantee we will never go wrong!

Book The Treasure Principle Revised and Updated

Download or read book The Treasure Principle Revised and Updated written by Randy Alcorn and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2012-04-11 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover how the joy of giving can make your life richer, starting today. Bestselling author Randy Alcorn introduced readers to a revolution in material freedom and radical generosity with the release of the original The Treasure Principle in 2001. Now the revision to the compact, perennial bestseller includes a provocative new concluding chapter depicting God asking a believer questions about his stewardship over material resources. Jesus spent more time talking about money and possessions than about heaven and hell combined. But too often we’ve overlooked or misunderstood his most profound teaching on this topic, from his words in Matthew 6. Jesus offers us life-changing investment advice. He actually wants us to store up treasures for ourselves—just not here on earth. Instead, he urges us to store our treasure in heaven, where they will await us, and last forever. We can’t take it with us—but we can send it on ahead! Readers are moved from the realms of thoughtful Bible exposition into the highly personal arena of everyday life. Because when Jesus told His followers to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,” He intended that they discover an astounding secret: how joyful giving brings God maximum glory and His children maximum pleasure. In The Treasure Principle, you’ll unearth a radical teaching of Jesus—a secret wrapped up in giving. Once you discover this secret, life will never look the same. And you won’t want it to be. “Supercharged with stunning, divine truth! Lightning struck over and over as I read it.” - John Piper, Senior Pastor, Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis

Download or read book Double Blessing written by Mark Batterson and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2019-10-15 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God doesn't bless us to raise our standard of living. God blesses us to raise our standard of giving, and that's where true joy is found. The New York Times bestselling author of Chase the Lion challenges us not to settle for half of what God offers when it comes to blessings—we are BLESSED to BLESS. His discovery started with a simple experiment. Whenever Batterson received a blessing, he would give a similar blessing away. If someone paid him a compliment or gave him a gift or went out of their way to help him, he would return the favor by doing something similar for someone else. We flip the blessing by blessing others in the way God has blessed us. That’s how the blessing becomes a double blessing. It turns giving into a game—one we can’t win because God will always outgive us! It’s an ancient truth found within the Abrahamic covenant: “I will bless you . . . and you will be a blessing.” In other words, we are blessed to bless. The first blessing is receiving, but it doesn’t end there. The second blessing is giving it away! That’s the double blessing. And that’s where double joy is found. In a day and age where the idea of blessing has been reduced to a hashtag (#blessed), Batterson challenges readers to pursue true, God-glorifying blessing and experience an exponential impact by participating in the double blessing. Don’t settle for half of what God offers. Discover how you can both get it and give it . . . in Double Blessing.
