Book Nucleon Form Factors from Generalized Parton Distributions

Download or read book Nucleon Form Factors from Generalized Parton Distributions written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We discuss the links between Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) and elastic nucleon form factors. These links, in the form of sum rules, represent powerful constraints on parameterizations of GPDs. A Regge parameterization for GPDs at small momentum transfer, is extended to the large momentum transfer region and it is found to describe the basic features of proton and neutron electromagnetic form factor data. This parameterization is used to estimate the quark contribution to the nucleon spin.

Book Deeply Exclusive Processes and Generalized Parton Distributions

Download or read book Deeply Exclusive Processes and Generalized Parton Distributions written by Marc Vanderhaegen and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We discuss how generalized parton distributions (GPDs) enter into hard exclusive processes, and focuses on the links between GPDs and elastic nucleon form factors. These links, in the form of sum rules, represent powerful constraints on parameterizations of GPDs. A Regge parameterization for the GPDs at small momentum transfer -t is extended to the large-t region and it is found to catch the basic features of proton and neutron electromagnetic form factor data. This parameterization allows to estimate the quark contribution to the nucleon spin. It is furthermore discussed how these GPDs at large-t enter into two-photon exchange processes and resolve the discrepancy between Rosenbluth and polarization experiments of elastic electron nucleon scattering.

Book Generalized Parton Distributions in Terms of Light Cone Wave Functions

Download or read book Generalized Parton Distributions in Terms of Light Cone Wave Functions written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The matrix elements of local operators such as electromagnetic current, energy momentum tensor, angular momentum, and generalized parton distributions have exact representations in terms of light-cone Fock state wavefunctions of bound states such as hadrons. We present formulae which express the form factors and the generalized parton distributions in terms of the light-cone wavefunctions.

Book Exploring Proton Structure Using Lattice QCD

Download or read book Exploring Proton Structure Using Lattice QCD written by Dru Bryant Renner and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We calculate moments of the generalized parton distributions of the nucleon using lattice QCD. The generalized parton distributions determine the angular momentum decomposition of the nucleon and the transverse distributions of partons within the nucleon. Additionally, the generalized parton distributions reduce to the elastic form factors and ordinary parton distributions in particular kinematic limits. Thus by calculating moments of the generalized parton distributions in lattice QCD we can explore many facets of the structure of the nucleon. In this effort, we have developed the building block method to determine all the lattice correlation functions which con- tribute to the off forward matrix elements of the twist two operators. These matrix elements determine the generalized form factors of the nucleon which in turn give the moments of the generalized parton distributions. Thus we use our building block method to calculate all the matrix elements of the lowest twist two operators. Fur- thermore, we use our method to construct an overdetermined set of matrix elements allowing a more accurate calculation of the generalized form factors.

Book Generalized Parton Distributions

Download or read book Generalized Parton Distributions written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applications of perturbative QCD to deeply virtual Compton scattering and hard exclusive electroproduction processes require a generalization of the usual parton distributions for the case when long-distance information is accumulated in non-diagonal matrix elements of quark and gluon light-cone operators. I describe two types of nonperturbative functions parametrizing such matrix elements: double distributions and skewed parton distributions, discuss their general properties, relation to the usual parton densities and form factors, evolution equations for both types of generalized parton distributions (GPD), models for GPDs and their applications in virtual and real Compton scattering.

Book Transversity 2005

  • Pages : 354 pages

Download or read book Transversity 2005 written by Dr. Vincenzo Barone and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of transversity in hadronic physics has been with us for over 25 years. Intriguing though it might have been, for much of that time transversity remained an intangible and remote object, of interest principally to a few theoreticians. In recent years transversity and transverse-spin effects in general have grown as both theoretical and experimental areas of active research. This increasing attention has now matured into a thriving field with a driving force of its own. The ever-growing bulk of data on asymmetries in collisions involving transversely polarised hadrons demands a more solid and coherent theoretical basis for its description. Indeed, it now appears rather clear that transversity and other closely related properties play a significant role in such phenomena. As part of a Ministry-funded inter-university Research Project, this workshop was organised to gather together experimentalists and theoreticians engaged in investigating the nature of transverse spin in hadronic physics, with the intent of favouring the exchange of up-to-date theoretical and experimental ideas and news on the subject. Over 70 physicists took part and very nearly all the major experiments involved in transverse-spin studies were officially represented, as too were the main theory groups working in the field. New results and new analyses sparked many interesting and lively discussions.

Book First Moments of Nucleon Generalized Parton Distributions

Download or read book First Moments of Nucleon Generalized Parton Distributions written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We extrapolate the first moments of the generalized parton distributions using heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory. The calculation is based on the one loop level with the finite range regularization. The description of the lattice data is satisfactory, and the extrapolated moments at physical pion mass are consistent with the results obtained with dimensional regularization, although the extrapolation in the momentum transfer to t=0 does show sensitivity to form factor effects, which lie outside the realm of chiral perturbation theory. We discuss the significance of the results in the light of modern experiments as well as QCD inspired models.

Book Generalized Parton Distributions from Deep Virtual Compton Scattering at CLAS

Download or read book Generalized Parton Distributions from Deep Virtual Compton Scattering at CLAS written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here, we have analyzed the beam spin asymmetry and the longitudinally polarized target spin asymmetry of the Deep Virtual Compton Scattering process, recently measured by the Jefferson Lab CLAS collaboration. Our aim is to extract information about the Generalized Parton Distributions of the proton. By fitting these data, in a largely model-independent procedure, we are able to extract numerical values for the two Compton Form Factors $H_{Im}$ and $\tilde{H}_{Im}$ with uncertainties, in average, of the order of 30%.

Book At The Frontier Of Particle Physics Handbook Of Qcd In 3 Vols

Download or read book At The Frontier Of Particle Physics Handbook Of Qcd In 3 Vols written by Misha Shifman and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001-04-10 with total page 2196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consists of reviews covering all aspects of quantum chromodynamics as we know it today. The articles have been written by recognized experts in this field, in honor of the 75th birthday of Professor Boris Ioffe. Combining features of a handbook and a textbook, this is the most comprehensive source of information on the present status of QCD. It is intended for students as well as physicists — both theorists and experimentalists. Each review is self-contained and pedagogically structured, providing the general formulation of the problem, telling where it stands with respect to other issues and why it is interesting and important, presenting the history of the subject, qualitative insights, and so on. The first part of the book is historical in nature. It includes, among other articles, Boris Ioffe's and Yuri Orlov's memoirs on high energy physics in the 1950's, a note by B V Geshkenbein on Ioffe's career in particle physics, and an essay on the discovery of asymptotic freedom written by David Gross.
