Download or read book Rural Women and Agricultural Production in Imo State South Eastern Nigeria written by Edward Omeire and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discourse on women in agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa has shifted in recent times from call for recognition to a quest for pragmatic action that will help the resource poor rural women improve their productive capacity. Given their enormous involvement in farming over the years, one would expect that by now African rural areas would have achieved optimum productivity and food security. But they are underperforming in part due to multiple institutional and cultural impediments which limit their access to productive resources and reduce their productivity. Viewed against this background, this work is an exploratory research which seeks to examine the roles, problems and prospects of rural women in agricultural production in Imo State South-eastern Nigeria. The author opines that in order to improve agricultural production among rural women in Imo state urgent actions should be taken by government and policy makers to make and implement women centric policies in the area of education, land use, rural banking, extension services and health care.

Book ICT and Food Security in Africa

Download or read book ICT and Food Security in Africa written by Adebusuyi Isaac Adeniran and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-02-24 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides apt and timely insights into how a globalizing African society could use the array of opportunities that various applications of ICT offer to supply much-needed food sustainability for the people of Africa. Looking at the entire agricultural value chain, the book presents a viable empirical framework for engaging with ICT in processes of food production and distribution, especially for rural low-scale agriculturists. It also depicts how the platform of ICT could play a central role in making the larger continental-goal of sustainable food security a realistic projection. In addition, the text considers how different regional dynamics could either enable or disable the efficient deployment of ICTs in the process of agricultural production in Africa, and highlights the relative progress that has been recorded in some parts of Africa in respect to the use of various ICT platforms in processes of agricultural production and distribution. The book will be particularly useful for students, researchers, teachers and policy makers working in the intersection between technology and food security.

The Göttingen International Health Network is corresponding to a variety of different geographic regions and programs to improve global health perspective and health of the most vulnerable: mothers and their children.

Book Towards Africa s Renewal

Download or read book Towards Africa s Renewal written by Jeggan C. Senghor and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 507 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Africa still finds itself in the clutches of poverty and underdevelopment. The expected benefits from economic restructuring have not been realized and the debt burden continues to weigh heavily on African economies, constraining the possibilities of growth. Problems that have existed since the 1960s remain and links with the global economy continue to increase but fall short of requirements. Against this background it is not surprising that the vast majority of African states will not meet the Millennium Development Goals. The search for political systems that can deliver development have been categorized by cynics as old wine in old bottles with new stickers. As the dividends from globalization elude Africa in the 21st century, it becomes clear that it is a series of failed states, rogue states and even stateless states. This volume brings together leading researchers and analysts to examine issues and identify policy options which can lead to renewal in Africa. It provides an opportunity to reflect and offers a critical multidisciplinary appraisal of the future challenges facing Africa.
