It is hoped that the consolidated knowledge described by this handbook will inspire more innovative ideas to bring the field forward. The size of the particles may range from nanometer scale, as in pigments or aerosols, to that of mined or quarried materials. The handbook will cover the topics ranging from the formation and synthesis, packing and flow, and application of these particles. Each part is explored in great details in different sections and chapters, it is written by a pool of international well known scholars, as well as industrial experts. The handbook fully reflects the state of the art in Particle Science and Technology

Book Particles in Flows

    Book Details:
  • Author : Tomáš Bodnár
  • Publisher : Birkhäuser
  • Release : 2017-09-30
  • ISBN : 3319602829
  • Pages : 526 pages

Download or read book Particles in Flows written by Tomáš Bodnár and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2017-09-30 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to face particles in flows from many different, but essentially interconnected sides and points of view. Thus the selection of authors and topics represented in the chapters, ranges from deep mathematical analysis of the associated models, through the techniques of their numerical solution, towards real applications and physical implications. The scope and structure of the book as well as the selection of authors was motivated by the very successful summer course and workshop "Particles in Flows'' that was held in Prague in the August of 2014. This meeting revealed the need for a book dealing with this specific and challenging multidisciplinary subject, i.e. particles in industrial, environmental and biomedical flows and the combination of fluid mechanics, solid body mechanics with various aspects of specific applications.

Book Fast Fluidization

Download or read book Fast Fluidization written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1994-12-23 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last decade, circulating fluidization or fast fluidization has developed rapidly, superseding standard bubbling fluidization in many applications; for example, fast fluidization provides a better means forcontrolling emissions from the combustion of high-sulfur fuels and excels when used in boilers in steam plant and power stations. China initiated the study of fast fluidization in the early 1970s. Focusing on the substantial research cultivated in that country, with Kwauk at the leading edge, this latest volume in the Advances in Chemical Engineering Series is written in the context of the international state of the art and addresses some of the most vital issues surrounding this fluidization method."

Book The Hydrocyclone

Download or read book The Hydrocyclone written by D. Bradley and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hydrocyclone reviews data on the theoretical, design, and performance aspects of the liquid cyclone, hydraulic cyclone, or hydrocyclone. The book aims to be a source of reference to those who are in industries employing the use and application of the hydrocyclone. The text covers the historical development of the cyclone; flow pattern and distribution of velocities within the cyclone body; operational characteristics and areas of application in different phase separations; and the operating and design variables affecting the performance of the hydrocyclone. Categories of cyclone; commercially available cyclone equipment; and the specific industrial applications of the hydrocyclone are also surveyed. The text will be of practical use to industrial engineers, mechanical engineers, plant operators, miners, and researchers.

Book Predictive Modelling of Particle laden Turbulent Flows Quarterly Progress Report No 2 January 1 1993 March 31 1993

Download or read book Predictive Modelling of Particle laden Turbulent Flows Quarterly Progress Report No 2 January 1 1993 March 31 1993 written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The excellent comparison between the data of Bader et al (1988) and the predictions using the fully-developed flow model of Sinclair and Jackson (1989) have not yet been repeated with any other experimental data set for riser flow. This may be due to the fact that the data sets investigated thus far have reflected gas-solid flow in a developing state (low L/D ratios). In addition, the model of Sinclair and Jackson (1989) neglected gas phase turbulence which should have an effect on the solid concentration distribution. Hence, a dilute, particle-laden, turbulent flow model is developed here. Model predictions highlight the importance of an independent measurement of the specularity factor, an appropriate representation of the kinetic contribution to the total particle phase stress for very low solid loadings in confined flows, and a correct representation of the interaction between the fluctuating velocity components for the two phases.

Book Modern Drying Technology Volume 5

Download or read book Modern Drying Technology Volume 5 written by Evangelos Tsotsas and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This five-volume series provides a comprehensive overview of all important aspects of modern drying technology, concentrating on the transfer of cutting-edge research results to industrial use. Volume 5 is dedicated to process intensification by hybrid processes that combine convective or contact heat transfer with microwaves, ultrasound or radiation. Process intensification by more efficient choice, distribution, and flow of the drying medium - such as impinging jet drying, pulse combustion drying, superheated steam drying, drying in specially designed spouted beds - are thoroughly discussed. Moreover, methods that favorably affect the process by changing the structure of the drying product, e.g. foaming, electroporation, are treated. Emphasis is placed on drying, including freeze-drying, of sensitive materials such as foods, biomaterials and pharmaceuticals.
