Book From Smart Grids to Smart Cities

Download or read book From Smart Grids to Smart Cities written by Massimo La Scala and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-04-27 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses different algorithms and applications based on the theory of multiobjective goal attainment optimization. In detail the authors show as the optimal asset of the energy hubs network which (i) meets the loads, (ii) minimizes the energy costs and (iii) assures a robust and reliable operation of the multicarrier energy network can be formalized by a nonlinear constrained multiobjective optimization problem. Since these design objectives conflict with each other, the solution of such the optimal energy flow problem hasn’t got a unique solution and a suitable trade off between the objectives should be identified. A further contribution of the book consists in presenting real-world applications and results of the proposed methodologies developed by the authors in three research projects recently completed and characterized by actual implementation under an overall budget of about 23 million €.

Book Trillion dollar Stake Of Carbon Neutrality The Energy Infrastructures In Hong Kong And The Greater Bay Area

Download or read book Trillion dollar Stake Of Carbon Neutrality The Energy Infrastructures In Hong Kong And The Greater Bay Area written by Sam Liao Cooke and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2024-06-18 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world has been witnessing an accelerating momentum toward carbon neutrality, with almost all major countries onboard. The stakes are extremely high with over US$100 trillion in investments needed to achieve net zero emissions. This book delves into this intricate multi-trillion-dollar landscape of opportunities and challenges. The detailed, project-level examination in this book will provide direct insights for interested parties to position themselves.Focusing on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), home to 86 million people and a $1.7 trillion economy, the narrative unfolds against the backdrop of China's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2060, as well as their respective positions next to the rest of the world in the race to carbon neutrality. For the GBA and Hong Kong, carbon neutrality corresponds to nearly a US$1 trillion stake in energy infrastructures. This book meticulously dissects the trillion-dollar stake from the bottom-up.The energy sector is destined to experience fundamental changes in the coming decades; demand for a vast number of new infrastructures will only grow, while many existing, fossil-fuel infrastructures may become obsolete. Jobs, money, and regions are expected to shift dramatically with winners and losers. This book documents and analyzes individual projects, covering fossil-fuel, electric, and CO2 infrastructures. The impacts on existing infrastructures and the demand of future ones will be quantitatively examined to diagnose the stake in detail. Gaps will be evaluated and the necessary pace of changes in the next three decades will be sketched. The trillion-dollar stake will be discussed about its associated significant challenges and opportunities.Tailored for policy-makers, businesses, and decision-makers navigating the carbon-neutral landscape, this book is an invaluable resource for professionals, industry players, and academic courses addressing energy resources, climate change and CO2 mitigation.

Book excerpt: This study was to analyze the future role of natural gas in the energy mix of countries of South East Europe. The study further identifies regional, cross-border and country-specific gas infrastructure projects that are economically, financially and technically sound. The study also analyses, and makes proposals for, the institutional and policy issues relating to funding and implementing gas infrastructure projects. The study examines sources of gas supply from Russia, the Caspian region and other current and prospective producer countries through Turkey and other transit routes (including LNG) and assesses costs of supply and gasification prospects in nine gas markets in the South East Europe region: Albania Bosnia and Herzegovina Bulgaria Croatia Kosovo Macedonia Montenegro Romania Serbia These markets are all signatories of the Athens Memoranda of 2002 and 2003, which commit the participants to regional cooperation in electricity and gas.

Book Compulsory Purchase and Compensation

Download or read book Compulsory Purchase and Compensation written by Barry Denyer-Green and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-11-20 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compulsory Purchase and Compensation remains the essential guide to this complex and increasingly relevant area of the law. Now in its 12th edition, no other book presents the same level of information on the law relating to compulsory purchase and compensation in England and Wales in such an accessible way. The book is also especially suited to those coming to this complex subject without a specific background in the law and is ideal reading for those students taking planning and built environment modules. Surveyors in particular will find this book invaluable. Whilst this new edition picks up the very many decisions of the Upper Tribunal and the higher courts since the 11th edition, the principal piece of new legislation is the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023. One of the controversial provisions in the 2023 Act is the power to include in a compulsory purchase order a direction, the effect of which is that in relation to certain limited purposes, compensation shall be assessed on the basis that no planning permission would be granted for development on the relevant land; in effect, no hope value and only existing use values would be paid.
