Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gage, Yale theorist, architect, and pioneer of the digital avant-garde in architecture and design, presents here a phantasmagoria of ideas and built work in his first monograph. Architect to Lady Gaga and Nicola Formichetti, Mark Foster Gage has spent 20 years leading the digital architectural avant-garde, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in architecture and design and exploding expectations. This volume features built and unbuilt work from around the globe, from a penthouse in downtown Manhattan to retail stores in Hong Kong. The work shown goes beyond traditional architecture to the realm of fashion and fine art, and includes Gage’s celebrated Valentine’s Sculpture for Times Square, a 3-D-printed outfit for Lady Gaga, as well as designs for Google Glass, Solar Flowers, and robotic tulips. Mark Foster Gage, whose work Harper’s Bazaar has called “effortlessly chic” and who has been labeled a “boundary breaker,” is a visionary for today. Filled with surprises and creations of wonder, such as a tower for New York’s 57th Street with mouthlike balconies on giant wings or a retail space bedecked with a hundred-faceted mirror, Gage’s work at once challenges expectations of what architecture might be and, as well, frequently fills one with a sense of excitement. Gage’s work is further elucidated in the book by the critical musings of eminent architects and cultural touchstones Peter Eisenman and Robert A.M. Stern.

Book Design and Analysis of Gauge R R Studies

Download or read book Design and Analysis of Gauge R R Studies written by Richard K. Burdick and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a protocol for conducting gauge repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) experiments. Such an experiment is required whenever a new test system is developed to monitor a manufacturing process. The protocol presented here is used to determine if the testing system is capable of monitoring the manufacturing process with the desired level of accuracy and precision. This protocol is not currently available in other books or technical reports. In addition to providing a protocol for testing a measurement system, the book presents an up-to-date summary of methods used to construct confidence intervals in normal-based random and mixed analysis of variance (ANOVA) models. Thus, this comprehensive book will be useful to scientists in all fields of application who wish to construct interval estimates for ANOVA model parameters. It includes approaches that can be applied to any ANOVA model, and because it contains detailed examples of all computations, practitioners will be able to easily apply the methods. The book describes methods for constructing two types of confidence intervals: modified large-sample (MLS) and generalized confidence intervals. Computer codes written in SAS and Excel are provided to perform the computations. Appendices are included for readers who are unfamiliar with confidence intervals or lack a basic understanding of random and mixed ANOVA models.

Book Evaluation of the Crack Growth Gage Concept as an Individual Aircraft Tracking Device

Download or read book Evaluation of the Crack Growth Gage Concept as an Individual Aircraft Tracking Device written by F. J. Giessler and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical and experimental program was conducted to evaluate the crack growth gage concept for application as an individual aircraft tracking device. Three gage designs were evaluated. Volume I discusses the evaluation of two versions of a stepped thickness gage and a stepped width gage. Volume II discusses the evaluation of a side-grooved constant thickness gage. An analytical evaluation of the change in transfer function corresponding to gage design parameter changes was performed to determine the configuration of the gages to be tested. Initial spectrum tests were conducted on the first stepped gage design to determine the ranking ability of the gage. Then constant amplitude tests were conducted on the second stepped gage design. A modification of the gage was made to improve spectrum test response. The modified gage was subjected to both constant amplitude testing and spectrum testing. The analytically derived crack growth rates were compared to the test data. In general, the analysis predicted slightly higher growth rates than observed.
