Download or read book The Soils of Mexico written by Pavel Krasilnikov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-02-12 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mexico is an extensive country with an extremely complex mosaic of landscapes. The soils of Mexico have still not been completely studied, and there are few publications available on this subject. This book provides a state-of-the-art view on Mexican soils, their geographical distribution, their use and degradation. This is a first attempt to give a systematized characteristic of the soil resources of Mexico. Land resources of the second-biggest economy in Latin America are critical for its sustainable development, and a demand for adequate soil information is high. The information contained within can be used for any soil-related research done in Mexico and in neighboring countries. The book includes detailed characteristics of soils of all the physiographic regions of Mexico with maps, photos and explanatory schemes. The book is based on the experiences of the authors in research and soil survey, as well as on the existent, mainly ‘grey’ literature on Mexican soils. The book is recommended for researchers and university readers, students of all levels and decision-makers, working in the area of soil science, environmental issues, Earth sciences, land management and nature conservation.

Download or read book La Cordillera Occidental colombiana transecto Tatam written by Thomas van der Hammen and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 1002 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume 6 of the series Studies on Tropical Andean Ecosystems, contains the results of the Colombian Western Cordillera around latitude 5° N. The fieldwork was realized in 1983. The transect consists of two parts, the first between 500 m and 2150 m altitude located slightly South of 5° N, at the latitude of San José del Palmar, and the other slightly North of 5° N, at the latitude of Santuario and the Tatamá massif, between 2150 and 4200 m altitude. The total transect was therefore named: "The Tatamá transect". P.S. In this volume we included some chapters that contain studies of several colleagues in other paramos of the Western Cordillera: Frontino, Farallones de Cali and El Duende. We consider these an important contribution to the knowledge of the area.

This book was released on 2019-01-10 with total page 685 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The long-awaited second edition of this classic textbook expands on the first edition to include advances made in the last four decades, bringing the topic completely up to date. The book addresses critical issues such as whether humanity can feed itself, and whether it can do so in environmentally sound and sustainable ways. Written from agronomic, environmental, and ecological standpoints, the textbook employs a multidisciplinary approach, including policymaking and plant genetic improvements, as well as ecosystem services, climate change, biodiversity, sustainability and resilience. New chapters in this second edition focus on organic carbon in soil, soil biology, soils in relation to livestock production and forestry, and agroforestry. The new edition will again be the go-to textbook for courses on tropical soils, and a reference textbook for soil and agricultural scientists and development professionals working in the tropics.
