La littérature sur l'acquisition du langage de l'enfant singleton a suscité des interrogations quant au développement gémellaire. Les jumeaux naissent et grandissent dans un contexte qui leur est spécifique. Notre mémoire a pour objectif de présenter les particularités de cette situation d'apprentissage et de décrire les caractéristiques communicationnelles et langagières des Jumeaux. Notre étude s'articule autour de différents moyens d'investigation. Dans un premier temps, des observations filmées sur quinze paires de jumeaux, âgés de 0 à 3 ans, ont été réalisées afin de déterminer leurs spécificités langagières et communicationnelles dans diverses situations d'échanges. Puis, pour compléter et confirmer nos résultats, les témoignages de cent parents de jumeaux ont été recueillis à l'aide d'un questionnaire.Nos analyses nous ont permis de mieux appréhender le mode de développement du langage et de la communication des jumeaux. Tous ces travaux nous ont conduites à la création d'outils d'information et de prévention (DVD et livret). Ces outils sont à destination des parents, afin de les accompagner dans la particularité de la situation gémellaire de leurs enfants. Ces supports s'adressent également aux orthophonistes et à l'ensemble des professionnels de la santé. Ils visent à optimiser leurs connaissances sur les jumeaux et à les renseigner sur les modalités actuelles d'accompagnement parental et de prise en charge des Jumeaux.
