Book excerpt: The rapid development of economic globalisation has caused enterprises to have a higher demand for high-quality employees in order to achieve competitive advantages. This has brought a significant challenge to human resource management. As employees are the imperative group in enterprises for gaining profit and maintaining regular operation, it is critical to raise their enthusiasm for work. Their creativity and subjective initiative could be fully activated, and the profit determination would increase if the appropriate motivating methods were utilised. As such, this collection offers detailed insights into these issues. It scrutinises how motivation, leadership, corporate values, and organisational identity have an affirmative and significant consequence on organisational citizenship behaviour and corporate human resource management, and how organisational identity plays an intermediary role in an organisation.

Download or read book Organizational Traps written by Chris Argyris and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2010-04-29 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anyone who has spent time in an organization knows that dysfunctional behavior abounds. Conflict is frequently avoided or pushed underground rather than dealt with openly. At the same time, the same arguments often burst out again and again, almost verbatim. Turf battles continue for extended periods without resolution. People nod their heads in agreement in meetings, and then rush out of the room to voice complaints to sympathetic ears in private. Worst of all, when people are asked if things will ever change, they throw up their hands in despair. They feel like victims trapped in an asylum. And people often are trapped. But they are not trapped by some oppressive regime or organizational structure that has been imposed on them. They are not victims. In fact, people themselves are responsible for making the status quo so resistant to change. We are trapped by our own behavior. Researchers and practitioners have often reflected on these things, but there is a puzzle. On the one hand, there is substantial agreement that these traps are counterproductive to effective performance. On the other hand, there is almost no focus on how organizational traps can be prevented or reduced. This book argues that whatever theory is used to describe and understand such organizational traps should be used to design and implement interventions that reduce and prevent them. Argyris is one of the world's leading management scholars whose work has consistently shed light on orgainzational problems. This book is essential reading for MBAs, managers, and consultants.

Download or read book Rethinking Hybrid and Remote Work in Higher Education written by Roy Y. Chan and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-01 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely volume explores the current and future state of hybrid and remote work in higher education from national, regional, and global perspectives. Today, colleges and universities worldwide must ensure that they have adequate information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, equipment, and systems to adapt to the “new normal” post-COVID-19. Hybrid and remote work can be a source of boosting productivity and advancing institutional change in higher education. Common within the management and leadership literature, hybrid and remote work is an understudied phenomenon in higher education administration. This book investigates the rapid rise of remote and hybrid work during and after the global pandemic and what it means for the future of higher education in the United States and abroad. By developing a comprehensive, research-based knowledge and framework this book seeks to equip and empower teacher-scholars and practitioners to operate safely, securely, and efficiently in a remote or hybrid environment.
